yes envy is related to ed and al. before their dad met their mom, hoenhime and dante had a son who died and they brought him back as the homunculs envy. hoenhime was ashamed and scared of bringing his son back and left envy and dante. does this help? sorry for long explaination.

Ed then tries to attack Envy with his automail, but Envy dodges the attack and Ed falls into the cake. Envy then grabs Ed and holds a knife up to his neck to keep Al from trying to rescue him. During this time, Envy begins licking off some of the frosting on Ed's face, and then starts kissing him. Tasty tasty! <333
