That was a nice mix of the studio and live versions- you have a brilliant grasp of Howe's style... you may not play exactly like him, but you definitely have the same spirit, and in my humble opinion, that's equally important, if not more... thanks for the tune, I look forward to hearing more...
Complaining that Steve has bad technique is like complaining that Dylan has a bad voice. Many artists don't know how they can do what they do,they just do it.Steve has a connection with his guitar that all of us who have spent countless hours in a classroom being told to sit up straight and correct the angle of our picking hand will never understand. If you want perfection there are plenty of players that will provide it without improv, creativity & uniqueness.Steve appears flawed because he is.
Chris, very very nice. I'm using your video to fine tune my playing these Howe pieces. I appreciate your attention to detail. Looking forward to seeing you do "Valley of rocks" soon, I think it's about as much fun as one can have on a guitar.
Tales T-Shirt...should have worn it on your rendition of "The Ancient" :-)
Are you self-taught or did you have training? I am learning just now and find your videos very instructional, plus a joy to listen to. Youtube is bandwidth-limited, so this must sound fantastic in real life.
Wow. Hey, I'm learning this song. But I'm doing it on an Ibanez electric.
And instead of fingerpicking, I'm using a pick and my MA fingers...basically chicken picking. Which do you think is more effective? Should I play this song with fingerpicking or chickenpicking?
All that aside. Great work!!!! Work a little bit more on the phrasing. And remember the 14h15h14 grace notes!
How is it possible this video was only 3549 views???? People are musically stupid????

I'm not familiar with 'chickenpicking'. I only do what I know how to do. I guess for me regular fingerpicking is easier. Thanks for watching!
