Not sure why you guys are getting around 23MPG, I'm currently getting around 26MPG in mine with mixed driving. And have even topped the claimed 36/37MPG on the highway once as well lol. 2011 EX w/ 6SPD option.

well the Hyundai elantra 2011 is much better choice .but i got this one full option expect leather,finger print & sun roof for 13900$ so it is much better deal than Hyundai elantra 2011

For about the same price, the 2011 Elantra is MUCH better choice. Svelte styling compared to Forte's sorta boxy, bland look, 4mpg highway better, MUCH nicer interior, newer technology. Since Hyundai is the parent company of Kia, I'm so dumbfounded why they didn't use the new Elantra's underpinnings for the Forte. If they don't with the next generation Forte, they're a bunch of boobs. Forte isn't a bad car by any means, but I'd only consider one if I could get a stellar deal on one.

Kias and Hyundais,(and anything from Japan) is simply a MUCH better quality product than anything coming out of Detroit!...Sorry, but those are the sad facts! They don't have corrupt, greedy auto worker unions like the UAW over there in those countries.... and the work ethic and attention to detail is simply much better too! In fact, Chrysler/Dodge and GM would not even exist anymore if it weren't for the US goverment bailing them out with our hard earned tax money! Screw the domestics.....

Well the Forte is ALOT LESS "forgettable" than a Civic,(cringe), or a Corrolla for goodness sakes! Besides, you're testing the base model/engine here. The Forte SX model has been getting rather good reviews. Kia/Hyundai have come a long way! These so-called car enthusiasts who work for these Auto magazines need to find real jobs or something, none of them seem to have a clue!

@Kaola It's funny now that happened, but makes sense if you think about it. It was a pretty nice little car when it first came out in 2010. Since then, better performing, more stylish small cars have come out, like the '11 Elantra for instance.

@Kaola Sadly, after only 2 years, it is due for a refresh in my opinion. The styling needs to be more distinctive and expressive. The interior needs a fit/finish boost. There's just too much hard, black plastic. Dropping the silver interior trim from the EX was a huge mistake. Fuel economy is at the lower end compared to the competition, but in exchange you're getting larger and more powerful engines.

Its supposed to be a cheap knock off of the Civic but alot of their supporting parts are made with low quality iron ore and don't last as long such as manifolds and exhaust systems. The article didn't include anything about the engine block so they may still be good even though they don't quite pack the punch of a civic nor have the fuel mileage.
