sorry greenday, and I'm not stoned. Point blank is the range a projectile strikes exactly where it's aimed. No adjusting for range or drop. Point blank for a pellet gun is hugely different than point blank for a 50 cal M2. You're close but it's not the peak of the arc but the point where the arc and the true aim or the barrel meet. I'm nitpicking but don't say look it up if it ain't so. Some of the old pistols we've fired what you call point blank would be way different from where they hit

I just recently took my 5-6 year old pellet rifle apart and streched the spring significantly (double), and bored out the hole between the breach and the cylinder.I dont have a chrone but i would say im hittin 750+ fps, because now with a .177 i can go right through 3/8 O.S.B (Condensed glued wood chip sheet) From about 40-45 ft away.I just wanted too let someone know that it is possible to significantly increase your FPS.I also achieve this with a design that is not meant to be put

@Scariestkiller Ek=1/2mv^2 is the equation for kinetic energy, simply meaning that for 2 pellets of the same mass, if one has twice the velocity it would have 4x the kinetic energy. A typical .177 has just over half the mass of a .22, yet has 1.5x the velocity in the same weapon. Speaking very roughly, this equates to the .177 having 1.35x the kinetic energy of the .22. Sorry for the tl;dr, but I am an engineer.

This only works if they transfer all of their kinetic energy to the target.

@yomumisminging Well im not a einstein, but my 5.5mm has definently alot more punch to target than my peashooting 4.5mm, i like to shoot nails with it. Anyways, my favourite is Gamo Long Distance 5.5mm pellets, they are very long and heavier than other pellets, they also have basically none irregularities in their surface, at 1,4g weight it definently will kill rabbit when shot from a good rifle, and its accurate too, i think its because of its very aerodynamic shape, im using magtech AR750

@copsinmyhouse I know its a late but depending on what rifle you have eg spring pump or co2 gas capsules.But for rabbits you want a sharp point heavy headed pellets (Flat heads and most round heads tend to bounce off or just not do emough to put it down outside its hole). For squirrels they are easy to put down but again id rec sharp heads as the flat head dum dums i find just knock em out a tree and isnt very fair on them. Birds(if the barrel is rifled) hear the pellet coming and r harder 2 hit

you are right,. I just tested my pellets, found rws to be the best. I tested both the superpoind and the super H point. The superpoint h point, i was so suprised with as the bullet completely turned inside out whist going in about an inch, which makes it perfect for hunting. The superpoints just carried on going until it stopped a cople of inches in, great for long range hunting.

I have had the Gamo Whisper .22 caliber air rifle for a few months now. I would highly recommend this rifle, it shoots 750 ft per second with regular lead, and close to 900 with the pba ammo. With hollow point ammo it packs quite a punch and would be perfect for what your looking to hunt. I've had no problem taking out larger birds and squirrels.

@elliotmotoX With out any question, the .22 is better. It packs a much bigger punch, and has alot more kenetic energy to take down game. If you get a .22 it will also be less effected by the wind, and be more accurate. 800fps is by no means slow.
