I disagree. He's ok and his guitar playing is not bad, but please - listen to some Simon&Garfunkel here on youtube and see if he's similar. S&G blow him away with their lyrics and melodies. Not to mention the most notable thing about S&G were their incredible harmonies. How can he be "the next" if he's just a one-man band? Duh. Those "critics" probably just hear acoustic guitar and lump all folk artists together. Booo.

Nonetheless, let's see if he can write an "American Tune" or "Sounds of Silence." Then I'll be willing to compare. Such a brilliant musician. Unlike many artists these days (whose lyrics are shallow and meaningless), Radin's lyrics are poetic and 'honest'. He doesn't write to impress, but he writes to convey an emotion.  I have a lot of respect for him

I got 6 thumbs down on my last comment -.- But i still think The first Version of Today is SO much better.. all the songs he remade he just made them worse.. but BEFORE he remade then, the untouched versions were purely amazing and i love them, listen to them all the time but the remade ones are not so good.. weird singing + music.. like in this one the singing out of sync somehow.. doesnt "beatride" well :P cant explain it..

I actually get what you mean.

I found Joshua Radin when he had that four song EP out with that girl...I forget her name.

but it had winter closer and sky on it.

But since he put out 'simpler times' it seems the remakes of all of his songs use the same 3 chord fingerpicking pattern. And his singing voice is always unpredictable.

I still enjoy his music a lot...he is deffinately one of my influences musically. :]
