i have a diamond compound bow, and i do not use a stabalizer, and i dont know much about them. why do these guys have like 3ft stablizers on there bow? i have used one before and i cannot tell a diffrence. well the one i use was about 4 or 5 inches long. i have been shooting for 4 years

@blootoons no its not. the only thing you can do is to unstring the bow when you are not shooting it to keep it from loosing draw weight. if you leave the string on it, it gets used to the bend. like if there is a tree growing crooked and u use a steak and rope to help hold it up, u can take the rope off after awhile and it will adjust and grow strait after it has been held by the rope in a strait position long enough
I would like to see all of the haters try and shoot compounds at this distance. They probably would even be able to draw the bow much less even hit the target. At this distance you have to have perfect technique because if your off by a centimeter you will probably miss the target.

i own a wood bow i use aluminum arrows and i can hit about a 5 inch wide target from about 100 yards across my backyard. compound bows are fun and all, but after 6 months of practice everyday for an hour with a simple curved wood bow, anybody can do it.
this is no fun these huge mechanical bows made with scopes and metals. I wanna actually build a bow, with a long strip of wood n what not. I mean can we bring some authenticity back into it??
What I want to see is an obstacle course that they have to run through and hit moving targets that hide behind cover. They have limited ammo so they must make their shots count but the course is timed so they need to aim and fire fast.

You call this archery? All they're doing is looking down a sight and aiming, they even have counter weights to help them balance the bow. Give these people wood and string and watch them fail!
They may shoot quite well with the traditional gear. It more likely that they would shoot better than any hunter with the same equipment. Sport archers loose 25 times more arrows than a hunter in a given amount of time. It's hard to catch up with that experience.

i went to camp and did archery for the first time and i was ther best archer of there hole 50 years of camp i only got one red and the rest yellow and the pad was really far away!!!
The distance is 70m. The ten ring is about the size of a softball. It is incredibly difficult to be accurate at that range with any bow, though I will admit it is harder with a recurve than a modern compound. Still, even with the compound, if your breathing isn't just right, you won't find the 10 ring.
The arechers allow their bow to rotate after the shot as part of their follow through. If the bow rotates in the manner that it does in the video, it means the bow arm didn't move.

I get to shoot in Competitions also later on next year! I decided to join the archery team and I'm loving it! Archery is a very skillful sport reather your shooting compound or recurve. Don't say recurve is better just because you can't shoot a compound.

the stablizer on the front of the bow is a weight and when there is no tintion on the bow the weight pulls the bow downward.

The distance is 70m. The ten ring is about the size of a softball. It is incredibly difficult to be accurate at that range with any bow, though I will admit it is harder with a recurve than a modern compound. Still, even with the compound, if your breathing isn't just right, you won't find the 10 ring.
The arechers allow their bow to rotate after the shot as part of their follow through. If the bow rotates in the manner that it does in the video, it means the bow arm didn't move.

i love how people cry about all the gadgets on the bow. its like saying nascar drivers shouldn't get better updated engines because its cheating. Theyre gonna make it as accurate as they can, just as basketball players wear good shoes, swimmers wear skins, and every other sport uses the best equipment...

I get to shoot in Competitions also later on next year! I decided to join the archery team and I'm loving it! Archery is a very skillful sport reather your shooting compound or recurve. Don't say recurve is better just because you can't shoot a compound.

is technique even a prerequisite? 2:03 u can see her moving her head in from the side casually, why bother to start out straight?? between the mechanical release, the lack of having to actually hold the weight of the bow and having your drawback snapped into correct distance automatically id say compound target shooting is quite lame.. they should shoot only 3D targets and make them moving - it would be more appropriate

Those bows are more complex than my car! With that kind of mechanical technology they had better be hitting 9's and 10's!! Shoot, that fat chick adjusted her sighting system twice in the first round so that she didn't have to make any 'eye' adjustments and she could just let the bow do it. That's weaksauce to a whole new level.

Everything on that bow is meant to take the human variable out of archery. 7 year old kids can learn to shoot a compound bow accurately at 20 yards in a day.
