  • The Global oven is good, but home-made units can work equally well or better. Check out my vids at "hipofalcon". I have hit temps of over 360F in mine, even in freezing temps. Ken

  • That bread sure looks good. I use my Global Sun oven to quickly reheat steel cut oats and baked potatoes that I made in it the day before. Then I usually cook more oats and potatoes, then beans and rice. I buy a red bean that might be a small kidney bean...not sure. Anyway, kidney beans and others have some toxin and it takes 10 min of boiling temp. to kill of the toxin. This is no problem with the Sun Oven, but I wouldn't try it with a homemade one where the temp often doesn't excede 212F.

  • I just built a sun oven from plans on the net. It should work out well it is sealed well which is paramount in reaching 300 deg.f or so. 325 yours reaches in 15 mins is quite well.

  • Thanks! I just had a solar cooked lunch j lunch. I am baking whole wheat bread at this very moment. It is close to 90d. F here in Florida and when I was making a pot of Whole wheat rice this afternoon the water was boiling as it was cooking on the electric stove! The temp in the oven was close to 175D F.
