  • I love your vids because it helps stop people buying more junk when they haven,t used up the last lot. lol

    PS: Great Vids

  • @WakkieRob1 haha thank you, flattery might make your batteries last longer lol I hope you subscribed :)P

  • It's alright there are completely safe apart from if you swallow!

When they leak they've had it I think!

I think I'm gonna get a plug timer, it's not that I'm ASMF but I forget very easy because I had a accident and got slightly brain damaged!

  • @WakkieRob1 Its OK you have to be really careful with them def. don't swallow lol. Some batteries produce better results than others just depends on the battery manufacturer :P thanks for commenting.

  • I tried this and left them forgetting they were in there for about 3 hrs then on check I looked inside the charger and low and behold they had leaked inside charger.

I looked very close to the others when one burst spraying into my eye. Are alkalines safe to spray in your eyes! :( help!!!

  • @WakkieRob1 Dude there is an audible warning in the video and a written warning at the end of the video. I said do not leave them unattended and for long periods of time or they might leak or explode... there are even words to that affect on most batteries!! They are designed to leak. All scientific experiments that might be hazardous require due diligence, safety equipment and above all COMMON SENSE. Maybe you should take notice of the warnings and in future you will be able to see further.

  • @MattBlytheTheOne Oh no, just a standard radio shack recharger. The typical one's you can get in any shop for AA's ore AAA's

  • @6x10x23 Of course it is... doesn't matter what charger you use as long as it doesn't overcharge (too high voltage and amps). Oh yes !

  • They will leak eventually... They are made to leak. When I was a kid you could do it and they wouldn't leak, now they do. It's a conspiracy I tell you.

  • Torch = Flashlight....Are you Australian or English?

  • @BleedingxxxLithium I'm English dude!

  • i was doing this at age 4

  • @kingbleah charging batteries or making videos? lol.

  • a fit pot noodle. i might get 1 after lol

  • i do charge my remote control batterries by a car charger

  • Can someone tell me do you charge the batteries with a NiMH charger, or with NaCd or however you say it charger?

  • @psuroviec you can use any charger you might try to experiment a bit? Just make sure the voltage rating is not too high and do not leave the batteries on charge or unattended as they might leak or even explode (apparently) and damaged your equipment. Some batteries seem to have more integrity than others.

  • this prooves nothing! lol

  • @M29NT I wasn't trying to prove anything! Just demonstrating a FACT that disposable alkaline batteries can be recharged with varying degrees of success. lol try it for yourself.

  • POT NOODLE!!!!!!!!

  • @M40A3Phoenix haha most of my plants are in pot noodle pots!!

  • so...i just put the baterries standing up?

  • @codwawben well yes as long as you stand them up in a charger (for short periods at a time!) :)

  • can you do the same with a lemon battery

  • @100000000years har har I have never tried!

  • How long should I charge them on A quick 15 Minute charger?!? I think One Hour will definately cause the to Explode!!

  • @amajlesi never tried a quick charger, try like five minutes! Let me know how you get on... :)

  • @amajlesi I tried five minutes and when I checked the batteries were almost too hot to touch, lol maybe its a bad idea to use a 15 min charger on Alkaline! the batteries did work after but can you please advise me to try this again or not? Thanks in advance :)

  • @amajlesi ...if the batteries are too hot to touch they are drawing a lot of current, heat is the resistance to the energy. I agree with you, a 15 minute charger is probably not a good idea! If you continue they might even explode or catch fire. NOT A GOOD IDEA!!

  • Funny how an accent can be taken seriously.

  • @bjhennessey how is that funny lol ?

  • Thanks I am using your advice right now but to recharge an Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery (I hope that's not specifically unsafe for some reason or other.. lol).

  • @CrisVangel cool, let us know your results I havn't specifically tested lithium, I did my research on alkaline batteries :)

  • hahah he called a flash light a torch

  • haha I love Americans too :)

  • When non rechargeable batteries get hot they leak ....we all know that hot things expand...so the chemicals inside expand and the casing expands and comes apart.

The explosion risk is if you get a battery that gets hot and does NOT leak , pressure builds up inside.

The only way to do this (whichever charger you use) is you MUST keep checking the batteries temperature by feel ..keep switching them off when they feel hot, keep looking to see if they are leaking

Keep 'em cool and you will be ok.

  • @pedalman someone told me that rechargeable batteries have hidden vent holes in the casing! It is not just the heat, the alkaline solution 'fizzes' during the electrolysis process.

  • If you used a slow 16 hour trickle charger and also maybe aimed a fan at the charger to help cool the cells it must be possible to recharge these things ....after all they are charged at the factory ! electricity does not magically appear in these cells as they leave the factory it has to be put in.

Maybe we pay more for rechargeable batteries cos they are a better casing and sealed better so they dont leak .

  • @pedalman great comment, it is true but in the factory the batteries are "aligned" and then packed and sealed in situ. they are designed NOT to be recharged mainly bcos of their packaging like you say. Watch the video response to this one of a more detailed explaination : /watch?v=UDwMxISYojM&feature=response_watch

  • So what I need to do?

  • @luisalberto43 Charge your batteries in a standard battery charger but only for short periods like one hour at a time. Don't leave them for longer or they might leak or explode haha you need to watch the video !

  • what!? so all u do is let them stand up?? o.O

    im confused?

    what happened?

  • lol well you put them in a battery charger, but only for short periods at a time. I think I mentioned this in the video ;) watch the video response you can see the full version.

  • If you use a quick 4hr charger , yes charge them for short periods of 30 mins so the cells dont get hot, expand and leak.

I wouldnt use a rapid 30min charger for this.

If you use a trickle charger (16 hours) instead of a quick charger and use a fan blowing on them they wont get hot .

The rule is until you find out if any of this works you must keep a close watch and keep feeling the batteries for temperature....definitely dont leave them charging on the living room floor .

  • @pedalman perhaps you could try charging using a trickle charger and let us know how you get on?

  • good but the music killed it

  • hey thanks! you don't like Moby?

  • 2:15

  • yeah! take care...

  • hahaha i only need to charge 30 min and 4 are full

  • Really? That's good... what kind of batteries/charger are they?

  • HEY THAX THAT WAS REALLY HELPFUL

    :)

  • Wow! You sounds very familiar, em...I'm pretty sure it's Richard(the drummer from Keane), haha..you guys are voice twins, cool!

  • haha hey thanks!

  • You're welcome =) I'm glad you know who I'm talking about.

  • I know Keane! I havn't the drummer's voice tho... :)

  • Haha, yeah I thought so XD Tom do all the singing.

Well his voice is almost just like yours, I think because his voice is unique X)

  • hehe I bet he copied me ;)

  • yes it works but not all battery work! i know i charge some Duracells AA 4 of them 1hr them 7hrs them 2hr and it a trip the batterys all r working!!

  • that's great, thanks for commenting :)

  • MAttBlythe: you are RIGHT I got a RAYOVAC CHARGER & I charges 4 AA Duracell 4 time 1 time 1hr next time for 7 hrs 3rd time for 2hrs & last time 1 hr !! AND it works fine but i will not Charge them as long next time. but it works good.

  • so if you put them in for just an hour they will fully charge and not blow up

  • the will charge "some" and probably not leak or explode, correct :) some batteries seals are better than others...

  • see the comment below this one!

  • hi I just put them on a standard battery charger for about 1 hour at a time.

  • He never showed us that the battery was charging or not, so we never know whether he lied or not.

  • hi I was just illustrating a point of course I didn't lie why don't you conduct your own research at home and see for yourself? Or watch this other video /watch?v=lzunELDAD3w and smell the coffee!

  • can u do the same thing with triple a

  • u can try! Triple A alkaline batteries will take a chare but like the double A's it depends on the integrity of the battery manufacturer.

  • I don't understand well what you say, how did you recharge them ?

    Th.anks

  • hi, i put them on a standard battery charger for short periods like one hour at a time so they wouldn't leak.

  • when my batteries are low or dying, i just shove them in the microwave for 1 minute. which is dangerous, i know. also you can buy a recharger to recharge non rechargeable batteries

  • really? what happens when you shove them in the microwave? I imagine the microwaves agitate the alkaline solution, and microwaves carry A LOT of electrical energy... /watch?v=3_Ptrwzj10M

I also imagine there is quite a high chance of the battery exploding... /watch?v=_hNRX-UOozU

  • when i shove the batteries in the micro wave, they heat up but only slightly on the outside but get really hot on the inside, DO NOT do this on HIGH power and For more than 1 minute or else they will explode OK. this is just to squeeze some extra life out of the batteries. and when i used to work as a tech guy, we had a battery charger thats was for charging normal batteries, it has a processor built in that controls the flow so they don't leak or explode and you can recharge again & again.

  • i tried this an both leaked

my charger only holds 2 AA/AAA at a time

  • some makes of battery are more prone to leaking than others it depends on the quality of the seal...

  • they were energizer lithium so not the cheap crap

    put them in my charger (input 240volts - 50Hz, 20mA) (output 1.2v ****x2, 110mA)

couldnt do tht symbol but u probly know what it was

any standard store batterys tht work well with this method

  • the ones in the video worked quite well :)

  • never seen or even hered of then b4

i got sum panasonic on charge right il c what happens

  • I must say that this trick did work very well

    in my battery charger.

new AA batteries in one hour thanks for the tip.

  • Great! I would be interested to learn the battery manufacturer? I know some recharge better than others.

  • Sony eveready batteries iv had over two years now.

    the batteries were completly dead.

  • batteries do not die, they become unusable when the alkaline solution dries out and they will no longer sustain a charge... some batteries are so poorly packed that once they have spent their initial charge they become "disposable". See the full length video (in the video response), thanks :)

  • sounds like a alright idea, might test it

  • Thanks matt your full length videos are very

interesting to watch i learn somthing every day on youtube thanks for posting keep them coming:0)

  • hahaha you're awesome xD :D

  • lol I did recommend "short periods"! I had one leak on me but it only made a small fizzing noise and the charger was fine. I recommend you re-watch the video and conduct your own responsible research!

  • Thanks for that tip. What was that music that you used in the video?

  • hi, its called "James Bond Theme" by Moby

  • kind of

  • dude i just watched this from another guy and he used torch and the same accent

  • hi, did he have much success with recharging?
