  • at the end did you also put the rice cake with bean paste in the microwave, bakeit or what???

  • @4everbhdez

the batter .. rice cake is already cooked in the microwave.. so you don't have to cook again later..

  • where can i get the red bean paste other than going to a chinese store?

  • @4everbhdez

    korean grocery store

  • ok, so I tried to make this. Everything turned out great, but my cakes won't hold it's form. .how do you make it so that they stay in the ball shape??????

  • @fobzndorkz

You have to seal the top tight..by pinching as I did in my video..once it's sealed well..then round it with your hands a little .. to make it ball shape..

  • you can eat raw corn starch?

  • @SunflowerTech

    yes..it's not much..

  • What is the song playing in the background?

  • @MissGrellSutcliff

    Song Title: Friends

    Artist: Cool

  • How high do you put your microwave?

Awsome video btw! Gonna make it!

  • @Poldey89

It will be various depending on the microwave model.. anyway..mine was power 10 ..

  • can I substitute corn starch to all purpose flour ?

  • @takajo21

    not really... ^^:;

  • @aeriskitchen Can I use plain rice flour instead of sweet rice flour? thanks:)

  • @isolde749 Sort of defeats the purpose as these are sweet cakes.

  • how do you cook it?

  • @ObrecSabrec They don't need to be cooked after the beans are wrapped in the flour- thats it finished! :)

  • what does this taste like?

  • @kokolocomotion1

the red bean paste is.. nutty and sweet.. the rice cake tastes like.. rice.. (not much flavor.. )

  • Thank you for this video. I thought the rice flour would harden after a while, but it worked!! I tried making the cakes according to another video on youtube but the rice dough was too hot to handle and I made a huge mess!! In the video, she spooned the hot dough right out of the bowl and immediately rolled it onto the red bean paste.Your description was much easier :)

  • NOOOOOO!!!!!! I don't use microwaves... can I cook it on the stove instead???

  • @ExileTherin

Yes, you can cook it in the stove.. with a nonstick pan... but you might have to stir continuously..

  • @aeriskitchen

    Hello!

I don't understand how that should work?

Do you mean steam-cooked on the stove?

    On a pan I can't cook dough!

  • @nelagora

Pour your batter in a nonstick pan ( not frying pan..but pot type pan.. ) ..and boil.. keep stir it.. so the bottom will not burn.. the batter will be thicken...

  • your hands are beautiful!

  • this is just like chinese mochi..ours is with peanuts inside ^^

  • @Hamsterlina1512 It looks good. What does it taste like? :)

  • are you single? please don't break my heart!

  • @aeriskitchen oh and can you tell me the ingredients in korean so i can find it easily? n_n

  • @jerseygurll15033

찹쌀가루 (sweet rice flour).. 팥 앙금 (red bean paste) .. 전분 가루 (corn starch)

  • @aeriskitchen you must be a great mom and wife with ur great cooking skills ! XD :D

  • @jvboy88 shes wearing a ring... lol

  • can i use glutinous rice flour ???? :D

  • @hercules98cynthia

    that's what i used.. ^^

  • @aeriskitchen i used glutinous rice flour and it came out sticky and gowing? should i use mochiko next time?

  • @seeuther2012

glutinous rice flour is same thing with mochiko.. I think..

  • Oh, how i wish i were asian!

  • I followed the recipe exactly but my mochi came out gooey and not chewy... It was bad... what did I do wrong? :(

  • @carrieb1986

I guess... maybe you got wrong type of rice flour ?? Did you use sweet rice flour ?

  • @carrieb1986 Did you buy 'Mochiko' from the Mochiko brand? That is your best bet - it's made for making this stuff. Or else you get involved with two different types of sweet rice flour and it just gets really confusing...

  • @jadelylith

what you say.."mochiko" is japanese name for sweet rice flour that I used.. Korean people also use it.. so you can try that brand..

  • can anyone tell me where i can find sweet rice flour, because there are no Asian supermarket near me. Please Help!!!!!!

  • @Princess1027Panda

where do you live in ? sometimes walmart sells sweet rice flour.. called "mochi powder"

  • @aeriskitchen oh ok thanks !!! :)

  • @aeris kitchen i made the selweet rice cake but i was wondering do we store it in the fridge after we're done?

  • @hyperazndork4ever

yes.. you keep it in the refrigerator..

  • can i use regular rice flour instead of sweet rice flour?

  • @Princess1027Panda

    sorry but not..

  • Could you cook this by adding boiling water instead of microwaving? I don't own a microwave. :(

  • @CubicSymmetry originally, rice flower should be boiled on steamer. microwave is very useful but Dango will be fixed easily. then i recommend you to use Seiro 蒸籠; Chinese bamboo steamer. the perfume is good!! grated yam should be mixed in,the surface is softly!! not mixed will fix only for 2 or 3 hours. the different making way is using home bakery, five minutes mixing with steamed sticky rice, its very delicious. rolling bean paste and raw strawberry is delicious. try to cook!!

  • @CubicSymmetry its similar with japanese kashiwamochi

    /watch?v=-Cv5LsqKUXc

  • and you please make sweat potato hobbang?

  • @IamHashtagswag

I will add it to my list.

  • I really appreciate this video. Red Bean Cake is possibly my favourite Korean dessert there is! Thank you!

  • Can you use glutinous rice flour instead of sweet rice flour? Or are they the same thing?

  • @TiffanyTongg They are the same thing. You can check on wikipedia

  • which store i can buy sweet rice flour?

  • @aeriskitchen I'm not sure what went wrong, but when I added all the water my mixture seemed a lot more watery than yours. Is it still alright?

  • @aeriskitchen I wonder if I could also add powdered green tea with the sweet rice flour dough?

  • @maxtull21

    sure ^^ sounds good..

  • is this sort of like japanese red bean mochi?

  • @MegaSd6

    I think so.

  • @aeriskitchen thanks!

  • @PandaDaniBear

yes..the dough is already cooked in the microwave.. so you can just it. ^^

  • aeri, how do you write "sweet rice flour" in korean?

  • @FATUGLYPRICK

we say "찹쌀 가루 = ChapSsal GaRu" in Korean. ^^

  • @aeriskitchen

    Thank you.

  • I buy sweet rice cake every week from my local asian store. I have to try to make it myself at home from now on. Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • looks so easy ... . did you make ur own red bean paste ? or is it available on store ?

  • @tokoetin

  • @aeriskitchen Hey Dear, can i use Rice flour instead of sweet rice flour?... Please reply soon, i wanna make this tonight.. thanks love :)

  • @Narciss99

sorry but you need sweet rice flour for this food...

  • @aeriskitchen Also, is there anyone to avoid using the Microwave, coz i try avoid using it ..

  • @Narciss99

you can use double boiler... or use stove pan.. (nonstick pan..) you have to keep stir it so it will not burn to bottom...

  • @MrMcshane70

    I have a whisk. :)

  • OMG I made this and it was so good :)

I made this for my art teacher since shes having a baby soon and she told me she wanted something from korean bakery lol :)

thank you soo sooooo much !

  • Is sweet rice flour the same as glutinous rice flour? and do i have to cool down the dough before i wrap it? :))

  • @k3nt1989 yes sweet rice flour and glutinous rice flour are the same. If you don't cool down the dough, it will be too sticky and gooey to handle. Cooling it down will make it stiff enough to work with it.

  • no need steam it?

  • @NazeeraSHINee94 you steam or microwave just the dough before you fill it with bean paste. You don't steam it after because the rice flour is already cooked. Steaming it is more traditional and flavorful. I never use the microwave because nothing ever tastes good out of a microwave. If you steam the dough, stir the rice and water until chunky large pieces form and steam in a cheesecloth lined steamer. Then roll the dough in a ball to knead at least 5 to 10 minutes to develop the gluten.

  • i tried them for the first time BEST THING EVER :p

  • I love how you respond to the comments on your videos. Most channels with lots of viewers don't respond. That's one of the reasons why I love this channel so much. The other ones are good too, but I think they should respond to their viewers' questions like you do. Keep up th good work!

  • how about the ho-bbang? please :)

  • I tried making this and my dough turned out really strange... it was kind of "soupy" and I couldn't make it roll into a log like you did. What do you think I did wrong? =[

  • @whirledpeas13

So you did everything exactly what I did? and you used right ingredient.. sweet rice flour?? please let me know.. if you changed anything or you did same thing with what I did.. so I can guess what was wrong.. thanks

  • @aeriskitchen I used sweet rice flour and corn starch.. I think where something went wrong with how long I microwaved it, or maybe I didn't stir it enough? It seemed undercooked and really sticky. Should I have tried cooking it longer?

  • @whirledpeas13

Yes.. microwave power will be various .. so mine can be different from yours..that's why I showed how the texture should be.. after your batter done cooking in the microwave.. and they are sticky... just check if your batter is cooked..and stir enough also.. try it again..thanks

  • can u pls make a video on how to steam the rice flour please? :)

  • @koolilaura

You mean.. korean rice cake.. tteok?? okay I will add to my list.. thanks

  • @aeriskitchen u no... i mean... how can i make this sweet rice cake without microwave... or is this rice the same as making tteok? i dun no... :(

  • @koolilaura

You can use double boiler on your stove also.. each tteok has different way of making it.. so.. it's different..

  • Awesome! Quick and easy to follow! Thank u!

  • can i put it into the oven? if so how long do i put? :) thank you!!

  • @koolilaura

you mean.. to make the dough ?? I don't think.. oven works..because.. you need to cook the dough in high temperature for short time..and knead the dough by stirring several times..

  • Pretty hands, food looks tasty too.

  • can you use normal rice flour instead of sweet rice flour

  • @MultiIovekpop

for this specific food.. you need sweet rice flour.. sorry..

  • @aeriskitchen I'm hungry now! XD

  • wow u guys are pathetically racist. I have plenty of asian friends and guess what I am oh yeah puerto rican so stfu because I have been to their homes and it's just like mine except my friend's dad is always cooking something :P I LOVE ASIANS SO BOOYA!

  • @SailorPerson Puerto Rican? AMIGO!! :D

  • ...best idea ever. Exchange the red bean paste for cookie dough. //money

  • Since this is a traditional recipe and microwaves didn't come around until recently, how would you make this without a microwave? Could you steam it?

  • @SSthemagicviolin

Yes it was just easy way to make this rice cake. People steam the rice flour and knead the dough..

  • @aeriskitchen Thankss!!

  • How do you make red bean paste.

    Thanks

  • @WYCHIX5

I posted how to make red bean paste recently.. please check my recent video. ^^ thanks

  • Koreans used to eat dog...its an older dish however from what I can recall it's nowhere near as popular as it used to be....Anyhow, have to agree with what Sunshine here has been saying (seems like no one wants to face the facts here)

  • Chinese restaurants are dirty as all hell.. Many of them at least. That's why, here in Canada, the chinese restaurants that do the best are the ones that are proven to be clean for customers and especially clean in the kitchen - and without selling any mystery meat. However, for every clean chinese restaurant that would pass the health inspection I can easily find five or six that do not and somehow get past inspection or are closed down only to be reopened by a family member.

  • Chinese food is cleaner than Korean!

  • @Jchan743

    Koreans don't eat dogs.

  • Respond to this video...

And btw, a lot of food is necessary made using your hands. It doesn't mean it's dirty because you have to wash your hands of course. Why? does bakers use gloves to knead dough? you're a jerk.

  • @SunshineQueenable You are a jerk not me.Idiot!Eveyone knows Chinese food cleaner and better!

    Go to hell JERK!

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video...

Chinese food are the most dirty food anyone could think of and that's the fact! just look at your market. They sell dogs and whatever stuff they could think of. One day you might possibly eat human internal organs as well.

  • @SunshineQueenable Racist! FU!Thats what Koreans are like not Chinese!

  • @SunshineQueenable Koreans are the ugliest smelliest freaks in thew world! And no one like u!

  • what was the music in the background it sounded GREAT!

  • how long can the sweet stay soft for? Could I keep it for a few days?

  • @terri4sure

You can keep it in the refrigerator for 2 -3 days..but not longer than that.. ^^

  • i tried looking for mochi flour at walmart online there seems to be none.can u show me other local american stores where they sell it?

  • @bhernandez0955 CVS is another store location.

  • I'm going to make this! God willing of course :D

  • how will you cook this one? you can eat this raw?

  • @mscorinamaria

The sweet rice flour batter was cooked in the microwave.. so it's not raw anymore..the bean paste is also cooked and ready to eat.. ^^

  • @aeriskitchen i see , btw thank you so much for the information especially to your vids.. it really helps. :)

  • how long do these last for?

  • @smileyraw

    I will say 2 or 3 days...

  • They look yummy :D Thank you for such a educational video :)

  • How am i going to cook them in a non stick pan? OMG. I'm sorry. I'm just wondering how. :(

  • @seblue999

  • i like this recipe but i have a question is there a recipe for the pepper paste to make it at home?? thanks

  • @dododl3 Just thought Id answer :'D Its red bean paste and you can just buy it as it is. I think they come in cans. But I dont know about your country

  • @debb0r Thanks alot for you reply ... I live in Egypt and it is really hard to find Asian stores here so i thought i ask maybe there is a recipe fo it ,,i get most of my Korean stuff from Saudi Arabia but i didn't find the red bean paste there :-)

  • @dododl3

I posted the recipe to make red bean paste at home recently..please check it out.. ^^

  • can i use regular rice flour and add more sugar? i can't seem to find sweet rice flour :(

  • @nerd0724

oh.. sweet rice flour doesn't mean.. it has more sweet stuff in it than rice flour.. the texture and flavor is totally different.. so you need sweet rice flour but not regular rice flour.. sorry.. I don't know where you live in...but if you live in USA.. you can find "mochi flour" in wallmart too..

  • @aeriskitchen is that the same thing tho?

  • Could you roll it in sesame seeds and deep fry it?

  • @lyislooney

I will not deep fry if the rice cakes covered with sesame seeds...because they will be easily burn in hot oil.. why you ask that question ??

  • @aeriskitchen

i believe it's because he/she was inspired by sesame balls

  • if i don't want to cook them in a microwave how else could I cook them? stovetop?

  • @enigmaticfille

if you use stove top.. use nonstick pan or pot.. or.. double boiler.. since the batter will easily burn on the bottom..

  • @aeriskitchen thanks a lot.

  • can i cook them or are they intendet to be eaten "raw"?

  • @MSFladoodle

the batter is cooked in the microwave.. so it's not raw.. ^^

  • @aeriskitchen oh so its ready to eat?? i though you put it in the bamboo steamer...i love this cake and i always thought it finished by steaming process...

  • this is also chinese too......
