i guess it is because of the steady decline in viewers. i guess they figured there would be even less than 6 million viewers the next season. keep in mind that the office would have been cancelled had the character of michael scott not stared in the sucessful evan almighty. they had around 5 million viewers at the first season

I'm assuming "My Name is Earl" got cancelled because of the popularity was increasing so much that the original contracts were renegotiated and the staff plus producers couldn't agree on a good amount that still allowed the wealthy to make money and the staff to get more money.

I think "Testees" was cancelled because not enough money from advertisements was being generated to make a profit. I'm thinking a lot of the people that liked it watched "Testees" on hulu.
