When you say this malware doesn't work on a mac, does that mean that windows malware won't do anything bad to your computer or steal information when run on a mac?
Malicious programs for Windows are often loaded through executable binary (.exe) files. Mac cannot recognize this file extention. The extention .exe indicates that the program is written for Windows. I hope that answers your question.
This really isn't accurate. Mac can recognize .exe files - the difference is that .exe files are written to run under Windows, while Macs uses totally different commands and file system structure. Even if the Mac runs the program under emulation it would not produce the same result. For example, viruses often hide amongst legitimate system files in c:\windows\system32; Macs, however, does not contain this folder (or even a C: drive for that matter), so the code would do nothing even if it runs.
@v9vREBORN Then you would have a completely separate virus. The two systems are structurally different. Also, the Mac does not merely rely on "obscurity" for security. There is a permissions model in place such that you would have to enter your password & allow the installer to continue most of the time, as well as a built-in firewall and several available anti-virus suites as well. In spite of that, some users will still wreck their computers - but they are by no means all Mac users
jesus apparently u have to downloads this to get rid of intervalhehehe but it just attacks you?thats just sick who would do a thing like that they must be low lifes
It's harder for macs because the hacks/viruses/trojans/whichever. All bad things for your computer. it's harder because they have to be made for only that computer and not a spread out thing. For pc's it can go to any one of them. I have the cnn virus. I did not know about this and it woulnd't even let me update my anti viruses. This is a very bad virus and very annoying it wont even let me system restore. Any Help Please?
The best thing you can do is contact the vendor of the anti-virus product you use. They should have disinfection instructions on their website, or contact details whereby you can contact their tech support team.
Hi tsukasa06. The piece of malware described in this video does not work on Apple Macs, but you are incorrect to say that Macs are immune from viruses, malware and Trojan horses.
Although there is a lot less malware for Mac than there is for Windows, it still exists.
Don't care if it was 3 years ago, you're still retarded.
Macintosh machines hold ~5% of the market share whereas Windows holds in excess of 90% of the market share. If you were a virus writer, would you write more viruses for Windows, where it will hit more people, or Mac, where it would hit hardly anyone?

The OS X equivalent would be a .dmg file given my experience (regrettedly) with OS X.

@willowhaus
Yes, but what if they had a seperate installer for the mac? O_0
The uneducated men and women who choose macs over PCs have a pretty damn thin layer of security when they choose security through obscurity!

@InsaneComedy No windows ONLY RUNS ON EXE FILES and when you download this in a mac it won't work when you click on the Windows .exe on a Mac.
