@NitePr0wler I own an accord also, but that 91 accord vtech(With intake+ exhaust)Unless you swapped the engine or have had the engine babied it's whole life you may be pushing 140-150hp.Thats the next generation stock(Also I am assuming your trim is EX).Had a 06 till it got totaled now driving a 94 good estimate of 170hp still pretty slow.But comparing a v8 to L4 is like comparing a baby to an adult.L4's got their good parts and v8's just have power.Plus the accord in here was auto not manual.
I have a 90 mustang 5.0 soon to have a 408w but also have an 89 sho and its a rocket down the highway plus it red lines at 7200rpm and that little motor makes 220hp stock I know it can take care of a 4 pot accord great sleeper car

@Angarsk1991 lol, hes in a V6 SHO (its 2nd gen) looks like 90 or 91. hes pulling around 210-220 HP in that car, bogged at the start and the Accord had a clean launch, and still caught up. i grew up in a 1994 SHO and that was an absolutely incredible car. Honda doesn't suck, Toyata sucks, anyway the Ford SHO uses a DOCH 3.0L 6 cylinder 24 valve with 140hp, the Honda only uses a DOCH 2.3L 4 cylinder 16 valve with 135 HP. Now the fact that the SHO bogged was bullshit, newer vehicles even with smaller engines seem to have better pickup, or acceleration than older ones. And if the Accord was equipped with the 2.3L 150 HP engine it would have been a tie, and if it was equipped with a 3.0L VTECH engine with 200 HP, the SHO would have been smoked
my SHO put down 190hp / 200ft.ibs. at the front wheels when it was stock. I used to eat "type s" 3.0L accords all day. Even with their "200"hp. The SHO pulls hard at the top and bottom end, and is more fun to drive than most v6 - I4 cars out there today. ill take my SHO over a honda any day of the week
You are a moron and need to look up your facts. The car in this video later on put down 192whp and 197ft lbs. I'm pretty sure that means it's over 230hp at the crank. After the 3.2l swap and Tweecer I gave and ls2 cars a run for their money on the highway. I'd like to see those beloved hondas keep up with a 5.7l GTO...

@modxz I think you mean the SHO has 220 stock (At least that's what Ford said back then.) The regular Taurus had 140 horse. Not to mention that a 3.0 v6 is going to out torque a 4 cylinder. @poptartsrdabest why the hell would u get rid of that SHO? SHO's are sleepers; cars that dont have incredible looks but have high performance engines. Kid, if you had put 800 -1000 dollars in that SHO's engine you'd be pulling 285-300 horsepower. Get a Mass Airflow sensor, racing chip (not high performance, RACING) and a new exhaust system. had mine at 290 with just those changed (and a K&N filter)

V10 isn't really a big deal over V8 in terms of performance. Ok wow so you got two more cylinders, its not really more cylinders that makes the difference its the compression inside those chambers that produces power. Higher compression. Well up to a point that is, you can only go so far, but still, a higher compression v8 would smoke a v10 anyday. Unless that v10 is twin turbocharged LOL
To Sealy1986, FYI, higher compression ratio creates more torque, because of longer stroke. If you want to have 4.8L V8 over 4.8L V10, you will have more torque than horse power. If your car is light enough, you may prefer having more HP than Torque. Horse power is related to RPM you create from engine(that's the reason why RX-8's rotary or crotch rockets(short stroke) engines have higher HP but less torque). You should've learned this in your Physics class.
Ya just can't mess with the SHO. I've had 93 MTX and ATX's, MT's are way faster, and way more fun. Only car that ever beat me was a Chrysler 300M. Oh the shame! but he had about 20 horses on me. But I smoked SC'd Pontiac GTPs (100% American) all day long, some 305 Camaros and 302 Mustangs, and BMW's and Hondas and just about everyone else. he wasn't. didn't you hear the short shift into third? the top of second is 60mph, that shift was not at 60. the 1-2 shift seemed to be at 5k and the 2-3 around 4 4.5k. just my guess from driving one around every day.
yeah i heard it all right. I sold my '93 ATX a couple weeks ago, so it's been awhile since i've heard the engine at redline, but i'll NEVER forget the wonderful sound it makes.
hahaha, I wasn't running it either. In the time I had that car I wound it out one time racing a juiced CRX with a b16, we ran up to about 150. Good times. Mastabeef10 has it right, I shifted about 1,500rpm short of the red line every gear.
Well, I'll tell ya. I was doing 45 in 4th gear, around a long sweeping uphill left, and too late I noticed the 300M behind me punch it and dive into the left lane. I foolishly dropped it to 3rd and punched it, but the RPMs were too low for the cams to kick in. It was just enough for the 300 to get about 8 inches in front of me before I hit 4000 RPM and from that point he couldn't pull away. The Lesson is: I should've dropped into 2nd!!!
This is undoubtedly true. I had smoked every GTP that came along in my MTX SHO (when I still had it), but it's a game of Who Gets On The Throttle First, and that time, that guy......god it burns me up! I'll find that SOB and when I do....SHO-Time!!
Get your PCM re-tuned so you wont have to manually shift in the GTP, and it'll remove your speed limiter at the same time, you'll get better shift points and power.
hey man the sho has been known to have a kawasaki engines. now im not honda/toyota import guy but overall impoer cars are lighter and faster than sho only thing is that shos are safer than a puny civic. american cars are not made in america anyway. most of the manufaturing of parts comes from other places in the world. so saying american cars are the best is pointless

Honda doesn't suck, Toyata sucks, anyway the Ford SHO uses a DOCH 3.0L 6 cylinder 24 valve with 140hp, the Honda only uses a DOCH 2.3L 4 cylinder 16 valve with 135 HP. Now the fact that the SHO bogged was bullshit, newer vehicles even with smaller engines seem to have better pickup, or acceleration than older ones. And if the Accord was equipped with the 2.3L 150 HP engine it would have been a tie, and if it was equipped with a 3.0L VTECH engine with 200 HP, the SHO would have been smoked

my SHO put down 190hp / 200ft.ibs. at the front wheels when it was stock. I used to eat "type s" 3.0L accords all day. Even with their "200"hp. The SHO pulls hard at the top and bottom end, and is more fun to drive than most v6 - I4 cars out there today. ill take my SHO over a honda any day of the week

You are a moron and need to look up your facts. The car in this video later on put down 192whp and 197ft lbs. I'm pretty sure that means it's over 230hp at the crank. After the 3.2l swap and Tweecer I gave and ls2 cars a run for their money on the highway. I'd like to see those beloved hondas keep up with a 5.7l GTO...

AYour POS 4 cylinder Honda stands no chance. I owned 95' SHO before and ran head to head with 2005 CIvic Si until 45-50 and then I pulled away.

@modxz I think you mean the SHO has 220 stock (At least that's what Ford said back then.) The regular Taurus had 140 horse. Not to mention that a 3.0 v6 is going to out torque a 4 cylinder. The bog at the start was just a mistake from the driver, anybody that drives a standard can mess up like that.

@poptartsrdabest why the hell would u get rid of that SHO? SHO's are sleepers; cars that dont have incredible looks but have high performance engines. Kid, if you had put 800 -1000 dollars in that SHO's engine you'd be pulling 285-300 horsepower. Get a Mass Airflow sensor, racing chip (not high performance, RACING) and a new exhaust system. had mine at 290 with just those changed (and a K&N filter)

V10 isn't really a big deal over V8 in terms of performance. Ok wow so you got two more cylinders, its not really more cylinders that makes the difference its the compression inside those chambers that produces power. Higher compression. Well up to a point that is, you can only go so far, but still, a higher compression v8 would smoke a v10 anyday. Unless that v10 is twin turbocharged LOL

To Sealy1986, FYI, higher compression ratio creates more torque, because of longer stroke. If you want to have 4.8L V8 over 4.8L V10, you will have more torque than horse power. If your car is light enough, you may prefer having more HP than Torque. Horse power is related to RPM you create from engine(that's the reason why RX-8's rotary or crotch rockets(short stroke) engines have higher HP but less torque). You should've learned this in your Physics class.

Ya just can't mess with the SHO. I've had 93 MTX and ATX's, MT's are way faster, and way more fun. Only car that ever beat me was a Chrysler 300M. Oh the shame! but he had about 20 horses on me. But I smoked SC'd Pontiac GTPs (100% American) all day long, some 305 Camaros and 302 Mustangs, and BMW's and Hondas and just about everyone else. he wasn't. didn't you hear the short shift into third? the top of second is 60mph, that shift was not at 60. the 1-2 shift seemed to be at 5k and the 2-3 around 4 4.5k. just my guess from driving one around every day.

hahaha, I wasn't running it either. In the time I had that car I wound it out one time racing a juiced CRX with a b16, we ran up to about 150. Good times. Mastabeef10 has it right, I shifted about 1,500rpm short of the red line every gear.

Well, I'll tell ya. I was doing 45 in 4th gear, around a long sweeping uphill left, and too late I noticed the 300M behind me punch it and dive into the left lane. I foolishly dropped it to 3rd and punched it, but the RPMs were too low for the cams to kick in. It was just enough for the 300 to get about 8 inches in front of me before I hit 4000 RPM and from that point he couldn't pull away. The Lesson is: I should've dropped into 2nd!!!

Get your PCM re-tuned so you wont have to manually shift in the GTP, and it'll remove your speed limiter at the same time, you'll get better shift points and power.
