Thank you for posting this. I also saw them many times in competition. Their band and color-guard were practically unbeatable at that time. Wonderful memories!!!!
I am pretty sure the guard instructor was Tom Brownlee. I went to college with him. They didn't have to have a tarp or an existential "theme". They just came out with class and performed.
Hmm, Wally, Paul, Denise, All familar names. I wonder what contest that was. Clarkston? Clio? I'm sure I was there, with Durand. That was the last year Durand ever did Winterguard.
Love this! Do you have any other Flushing band or guard videos from the late 70's / early 80's? I've been forwarding this link to a lot of the girls that were in this group and everyone is so excited to see it! Thanks
I have an old vhs tape full of stuff that Wally had given me. I havent watched all of it...I just pulled this off it and posted it. I know there are some field shows on it. I'll have to check.
Hi, this is such a great piece of history. Being from that 1970's era, and a member of the first corps style FHS colorguard, I thought all videos were lost! Please anyone, post ANY "Blackford Years" videos you may have...it would be much appreciated!!! Denise 1976
Enjoyed seeing this video. Does anyone have video of the Bottle Dance that Flushing did around '75 or '76? I still get chills when I think about that program.
After 6 weeks of painstaking restoration work, I've reconstructed the prior year's show from fragments of two separate performances. Check it out on my channel.

This video is not from 1984. It is the winter of 1978 in Feb or Mar.
