Comrades, we have a great inharitance to accept, and our common cause is far from achieved, nor have we ever rallied again after 1938. These men and women had so much more in mind than repelling the fascists. After all, they had us in mind when they took up the guns. It was not Spain or Scottland or any other "given" country they fought for, it was the idea of a classfree society, of free individuals and associated collectives. This idea is alive, and that is remembrance at it's best. RIP James.

Beautiful song, it makes me cry everytime I hear it. We can have pride in the sacrifices our brothers and sisters have made in the fight for the freedom of our class.

It's a shame that today we have fascists on our streets again but when we fight against the Scottish, English or Welsh Defense Leagues and BNP we're standing on the shoulders of true giants like James Maley or Tom Clarke, the last surviving Brigader from Dundee.

James Maley was my father. There are two documentaries on STV on 13th and 20th of August called The Scots Who Fought Franco featuring interviews dating from 1990 with International Brigaders including my father.
