  • Wow...certainly wasn't expecting to see something like this from Prius-maker Toyota.

Can't wait to see the Le Mans 24hrs. Wonder if Toyota could take the place of the late Peugeot 908s to give Audi some decent competition in the LMP1 category.

  • Motorsport porn!!

  • TOYOTA PRIUS and the hybrid technology of TS030 are created in a totally different concept.

PRIUS have a transaxle built-in motor generator, but a TS030 have front wheel built-in motor generator. This is a system suggested to upper part officer of Toyota before NIPPON DENSO announces the PRIUS. Therefore, the technique of the production model is not adopted for racing hybrid development.

  • Sounds slightly like a bike engine I reckon...

  • @TigerOfEchigo It's just the sound quality... it's 3.4L V8 and in reality sounds more grunty.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:22 WARP SPEED

  • I love seeing the car shake when the engine is engaged!

  • 1:27--1:35,the engine is pushing against the rev limmiter, gears not fit propperly for this track?

  • @MrBlindbird yeah i don't really like this car. it just doesn't seem right. but maybe its the first time its been driven.

  • @MrBlindbird

I'm thinking that because it's a cold lap he decided to "coast" for a bit, and that was just the electric motor going

  • @MrBlindbird Uhm, didn't he just change gear? I don't hear a rev limiter.

  • er ererere rere rere erer e er e r er rerererer er e re re rer re rer er er e rr erere

  • gher gher errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr er er er ere re r . hanoooooooooooooooooooooohannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn er er ere rer . :)

  • @abdo

it's also recaptures energy during braking and uses it to accelerate. this can't be the first time you've heard of hybrid technology

  • it used the electric engine for only few seconds ... what is the point of that? saved few drops of petrol

and it had to carry extra load for the rest of the race

  • @AbdoHad90 A few drops petrol might make a HUGE change

  • @lamdo23tech No they don't the weight would cost more than a few drops, this hybrid thing is ridiculous, on the road you see a few prius & volts and next to that there are a lot of gas guzzlers with big engines.

Why should we go hybrid? It's a fact that most emissions are from other things than cars, cows produce more methane gas than cars! This hybrid thing is notting more than marketing. If they want to have less emissions start looking at the factories first or reduce engine size.

  • @melangeken The hybrid engine, for race cars at least, Is designed to give the engine a boost in the straights while charging itself during the turns. So for racing at least, it has potential. We finally have a "boost" button in cars.

  • @xBl4ZnGunZx For racing it's a good thing then.

  • @melangeken What a "nice" excuse you have there to do nothing! You just don't get it do you? It's not about what others do, it's about what YOU do or don't do. Stop using other's behaviours as an excuse and start acting NOW. I own a Prius + a Vectrix electric bike. This year I'll swap the Prius for a PHV Prius, + a Renault Kangoo ZE for my company. I produce a lot more electricity on PV systems at home and at my company than I do spend total. I'm doing the best I can. How about you?

  • @jmmp00 Good for you , I drive a 1.3jtdm mito , a pretty economical car , but without the fancy hybrid system and I get 4.5 liter / 100km out of it exactly the same as a prius but without the gimmicks of electrical motors. If you even read my comment I'm not making up excuses , the fact is , your prius has a larger engine than my car , and as I said in my comments they should make smaller engines instead of hybrids.

  • @melangeken Problem with that though is that people don't want smaller engines. People want a large enough engine to be able to have ample power when necessary. People also want to be eco-friendly. So car manufacturers asked, "How can we do both?" Answer: Hybrid. I'm not saying I like hybrids any more than you, I'm just giving you the supply-and-demand break down of why they are here

  • @melangeken You should probably get a good reading and study the HSD system before making statements as ridiculous as you did about the engine displacement. The engine displacement in the 3rd generation Prius has REDUCED the overall consumption. Having a bigger engine sometimes is good to get better BSFC. If you do 4,5L then I can do at least 1 liter less than you doing the same course with a Prius. Anyway this is not a "mine is bigger" issue this is about caring for the environment.

  • @jmmp00 I can go deeper in this but why should I , you think what you think and I think what I think.

If it's for the environment let's think about this there's more lead in a prius than in a hummer and in 10 years when we all have solar panels on our car we would need to drive 20 years with our car before they become economical.(solar panels require very much energy to produce)

This going green thing is hilarious , it's like buying an apple , because it's hip and trendy. Stupid sheeple.

  • @melangeken "there's more lead in a prius than in a hummer"

plain and simple: you are a clueless moron.

  • @EVdriver8 Yes they are li-ion batteries I know , li-ion batteries don't even get recycled , they're thrown away on junkyards because they have low recycling value.

The fact is that they remain batteries , lead or not they are made of toxic materials that don't get recycled like they should.

Anything useful to reply except calling me a moron?

  • @melangeken "Yes they are li-ion batteries I know"

Really, do you KNOW? Dude, current - and past - Prius generations doesn't have even a molecule li-ion battery, but they do have NiMh batteries. First lead, then li-ion. It's obvious you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

Yes, plain and simple, you are a clueless moron. LOL! :)

  • @EVdriver8 Go suck on my balls you faggot.

  • @EVdriver8 Actually they aren't batteries at all, but capacitors.

  • @melangeken About the Prius vs Hummer, and the infamous "Dust to dust" bull why don't you search the internet on that very same pseudo-study? See what NASA had to say about it. See what Carnegie Mellon University had to say about it, don't take my word for it. About the solar modules, I'm in the Solar business you know, I could prove you wrong so hard it would blow your socks out, but the "Stupid" part begs for me to leave you alone with your superior knowledge. Good luck with that.

  • @melangeken "The regulations for hybrid powertrains allow us to recover energy under braking and release this to improve acceleration out of a corner, delivering lap-time benefit." Because every youtube commenter knows more than racing technology engineers.

  • @snypesfw My comment was not about that , lambdo23tech was talking about saving a few drops of fuel , I never said something about laptimes or speed.

  • lets see how it handles up against the audis

  • co di suong nhi

  • Oddly enough, because of the sound change that happens at 0:10, I am SO looking forward to pit-stops at Le Mans and F1! whrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBRRRRRROOOOOM!

  • The sound is so fantastic, my computer even crashed when I watched this video (really) ! :D

  • What's the point if the electric engine is only active in the pit lane?

  • @Skooma714

My understanding is that the system recovers itself under braking and can be deployed for extra "HP" during a race...less fuel needed by the 3.4L V8 for better endurance

  • @frozenbutt34

Kinda like KERS in F1 then?

  • I do not want to disappoint anyone, but I see TS030 as a real winner !

  • dunno why people are argueing about the peugeots. Did you people not read they wont be racing at all this year?

  • toyota might suprise me at le mans but still audi are the most xp

  • what kind of enginge do you guys loose and how much kilos has this think...

  • I just felt like I'm in Forza 4 :o

  • Nice quiet humming electric power in the pits then ROAR! Way better than those candy ass diesels.

  • gear changes sound as quick as a formula 1 car

  • @wanganghost even the lmp2 cars are as fast as the f1 cars... the think is... the lmp cars survive le mans and the f1 cars would not...

  • @TirLol lolwut, a modern F1 car pole is 10-15s a lap faster than the top LMP1 cars but who knows how'll be when the the new regs are put in place.

  • @MikeBR92 F1 intends keep same performance level in 2014. LMPs probably get only slowed down, but new fuel/energy consumption based regs in 2014 might complicate things (qualifications for example).

Comparing lap times just for fun is interesting, but any race car is as fast as the regulations allow them to be.

  • @MikeBR92 guys... they fia is working on it year after year that the f1 will be the fastest raceway on motorsports... i told... THEY SWITCH GEARS IN THE SAME TIME... I DID NOT SAID THEY ARE AS FAST AS EACH OTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lmp cars have to have 1200 kg and a f1 car a max of some 100 ...

  • @TirLol LMP1/2 = 900 kg.

  • @deggis4 ok... thx! :)

  • @TirLol oh sorry haha, really dude, I never saw neither your original comment or discussion.

  • @TirLol You are retarded. F1 is much, much faster than LMP1 or LMP2.

  • @willski1221 dude... i did not told that the f1 is slower or as same as fast as the lmp1 or 2 classes from le mans.... le mans cars have nrly the double of KG and less horse powers... i just said they switch all in the same speed.... LMP - cars and F1- cars have nrly to 100% the same speed of shifting gears... dude ur retardet cause u cant read :) BUT OK :)

  • @willski1221 From all i know. The LMP1 is faster than F1 in long straight line.

The LMP1 top speed is much quicker than F1.

But if we see one lap of circuit. Yes F1 is faster than LMP1.

Because F1 is very agressive and faster when cornering. LMP1 is slow in corner.

So F1 is faster in one full lap. But i don't think so if we see in long straight.

  • @rmag1993 Only reason for LMP1 reaching higher top speed is the fact that they race on a circuit that has 2 km straights. On any other circuit than Le Mans, it isn't faster on the straights.

  • I really hope you guys can win...I'm tired of seeing Audi winning...lol

  • @TheCoolpat3 did you not see Peugeot destroy Audi last year?

  • @12maniac12 Uhm.... no.

  • @12maniac12 Not in the race that mattered...

  • @12maniac12 audi won last year dude :)

  • @TirLol Yeah but they were destroyed in every other race against the Peugeots last year.

  • @deadleg6 first of all they were not destroyed... peugeots cars had many problems in every race they even had no race without problems.... and i think le mans matters not the rest... its everything build around le mans not le mans about something... they just wanted to create a "little" tournament... but rly not much ppl care about the rest... we all care about le mans...

  • the hybrid synergy drive is just to perfect! while running electricity you spin a generator to charge the battery, genius.

  • Nice sound!! i hope TS030 can fight with Audi R18 in WEC and LM
