  • You can see the flag worker under the canopy ahead of the corner starting to move as the incident happens.

These things happen so fast and humans can only respond accordingly.

When racing this can and will occur, to blame anyone is pointless.

  • . ..Or the drivers, the cause of Dan Weldons fatal crash later in the year

  • first crash i was like really thats not big........

Then oh crap that is HUGE!

  • @DVDFerrari5 same!

  • he drives green...

  • braaaaaavo, las banderas amarillas las ponen DESPUES del cambio de rasante... no es mas logico poner banderas antes del punto ciego?

  • Both Philippe and Power were quite badly injured in that one...nasty wreck.

  • What stupid thinks to go of the track if you can hold the spin?

  • makes me question the location of the flag points, or the competency of the officials. As i can see a yellow flag out well before the second car makes contact, I'd say that the flag point is ineffective where it is currently. perhaps put it on the drivers left at the top of the crest so that the cars can see it from a long range, and the flag point can see a long way down the track... just my thoughts :)

  • Where were the yellow flags?

  • @flickerfreefilms there was actually a yellow flag out before power hit him, look at the left of the screen. Apparently Will just didn't see it

  • Look at Will Power now....

  • @ToroRosso20 i think that crash made him a better racer

  • wonders* why there are yellow flags* hm pushes

hey theres more yellow flags**must be a slow car somewhere-NO WAY somebody spinned and parked behind that blind hill* pushes comes over the hill whoaa *bang

  • that second car that came around the corner must have crapped bricks

  • Anyone know what ever happened to Philippe? I watched him come through Champcar and it seems like since the end of CHampcar e's disappeared. I guess he was in Indycar briefly, given the video, lol.

  • thats one of the coolest indy crashes ive seen.

  • and that happens if you dont want see the yellow flags !!!!!

  • 0:40 watch the beautiful chemtrails on the sky

  • @trancowy89

I think you mean contrails. Chemtrails are a myth with as much truth as god or big foot.

  • There's absolutely nothing 3 of them can do... Nelson was already in a bad position and EJ and Will just have no view whatsoever as it was blind on the exit of the corner.

  • What happens when an american makes a right turn :/

  • will power is the best hands down

  • will power is the best

  • One year later, Will Power won the Sonoma Grand Prix. Great!

  • reminds me of the paul dana crash. rip paul

  • @SuperAwesomeSexness~ INDY is much better than F1!

  • @marek0086 Of course, everybody loves to see cars going in oval circuits, it is so exciting to see them turning left, then left again, then left, ...

  • @gilbertoagostinho~ I wasnt talking about OVAL track!..... I hate Oval track.

Champ car racing is way more exciting and REAL than F1.

  • @SuperAwesomeSexness No, this is IndyCar. You know, the ones that are way better than F1.

  • @monster271 f1 cars are way quicker

  • @oscarpink Doesn't matter which is quicker, if the racing sucks.

  • @monster271 i do like the indy car racing too, especially the ovals i was just pointing out that the cars are better

  • nice quality

  • If this crash was on the oval someone would have died....100% sure on that

  • Yeah agreed at a much faster speed but it most likely not happen because the visibility at an oval track would be much greater 1/2 mile+ compared to a road course coming over a blind hill with less than 100 yards reaction time going over 100 mph +

  • Hello, yellow flag? Why is there no yellow flag?

  • @Kranbone pause it at around 0:14 theres someone waving it at the corner, but because the part of the track itself is so blind, the driver backs off, but cant see where the car is until its too late

  • some people must be real little fish in there lifes.

  • what kind of degree do you need to post on this vid?

  • yea otissor thats nascar indycars are more of a sport that what u say

  • Comment removed

  • @Otissor LOL will power is a white australian and nelson phillip is a white frenchman. Your an idiot

  • @thelizardfolk

He was using niggas as a general term, not specifically referring to black people. Now who feels like the idiot?

  • nobody knows what the fuck your saying. Use your periods and comas. :D

  • Comment removed

  • he speaks asshole?

  • U NEED TO STFU

  • haha grow up kiddo

  • @2StepMurder and maybe you could try using the correct "You're" LOL

    I LOVE IRONY!!

  • @CrzyCanuk13

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, you still know what I am saying.

    Ifitalklikethisitskindofannoying

  • @2StepMurder

Doesnt matter. You were railing on someones post about punctuation while using incorrect grammar.

Its called being a hypocrite ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • @2StepMurder And yet AGAIN he fails to see the irony. Bottom line was you were pointing out someone else flaws while making some of your OWN Dumbass. Pretty sad when the basics have to be explained to you TWICE.

    Sanctimonious ass LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @2StepMurder Youre RIGHT dumbass, NO ONE said ANYTHING about spelling....... I was referring to the incorrect usage of the word "your" - NOTHING to do with spelling LMFAO

And once again the IRONY of your post is that you were pointing out someones failings while FAILING yourself. Irony; "an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected. "

Simple enough for you? LOL (I highly doubt it since this is the THIRD time Ive had to explain it)

    Moron

  • @CrzyCanuk13

LOL MENZ U TALK FUNNY. WHERE U FROM!? LMFAO YOU SUCH A GOOD POINT LOLOLOLOLOLOL CRYZCANUK. LOLOLOLMFAO

  • @CrzyCanuk13

btw i noticed your channel shows all your old posts. Get a life niggy niggy nig nig.

  • @2StepMurder your clearly a cunt

  • comma*

  • thats cool you like watching cars go around in circles. good for you, exciting sport

  • @PaNiCzToGoOd yeah better than watching football players run around the field without actually going anywhere as well....exciting sport

  • coooiooooool

  • did they die?

  • No, two cracked vertebra for Will Power, and a broken leg for Philippe.

  • lol wow..

  • That was a really hard hit. I've crashed in a Skip Barber car and it sucks. Carbon fiber needs to be in passenger cars.

  • Passenger cars need a lot more than that, more like stronger cages and four-point seatbelts.

  • who would wear that shit

  • You would if you've seen some of the results from "modern" traffic accidents.

  • are you sure? im pretty sure they would be in cars if they thought people wouldn't mind them. and i am not talking about the cages they should just do that shit

  • They don't because the Govt only tests for 35mph crashes, for comparison you'd going about 95 over the hill in the video.

If they raise the minimum test speed then they'd have to build the cages in to pass the nw test.

  • by the way...a 2 broken vertebrae and a broken foot isnt funny......

  • i cant believe the amount of idiots who post on things like this... honestly..... really... under 12s shouldnt have access to keyboards...some of the comments are shocking and obviously made by people who have no clue of what they are talking about...furthermore, this week, an international motorsport weekly magazine lambasted the lot of you!!!! stupid people....

    get better soon will.......

  • after seeing this video... i have without a doubt, indy cars have no durability what so ever, even the axls break after rolling over another cars "cow pusher" (*reference to trains*)

  • お大事に。ブラインドコーナーだから仕方ない。でもウィル・パワーは元々、もてぎに出場予定がないので・・。

  • pussy shit iv seen worse

  • I've been in worse, doesn't make it any less potentially bad. Title says "Big Crash" not "Worst Crash". What makes this suck is one spin where maybe the driver could have handled it differently takes out more cars...

  • I've spun similarly -you need to assess your runoff and let the car go before you put both feet in, get off the line if you can. No way to tell for certain, looks like the brakes are on here by the way the front stops moving...

  • I race on dirt, and Ive spun right in the middle of traffic. If you break the rear loose, you just slide and half the field t-bones into you...its awful

  • wow i hope they are all allright

  • so...all americans drive around in circles? does that sound as clever as you initially thought it would?

  • Clearly you're not familiar with Infineon Raceway, formerly Sears Point, a 12-turn 2.5 mile Road Course with both LEFT and RIGHT turns. Sears Point was and is a premier West Coast ROAD Course, no "Circles".

  • i think u replied to the wrong person

  • Who is "u"? WHO replied to the wrong person?

Aren't you the guy who posted about driving around in circles? It's a great ROAD course, not an OVAL. If you knew anything about racing here in the USA you would not make such a stupid, ignorant comment. Do I have the right person now?

  • no, YOU still dont have the right person. mc5philly was the one who made the comment about americans only driving in circles. i was being a smartass towards him and saying that he made a stupid joke. because clearly, only nascar is a drive around in circle (oval) sport, and in this video it is a lot more interesting. but he grouped this type of racing with nascar.

  • if you turn at the corner to fast to much air can go under yer car and it will like flip over

  • @mc5philly i'm super-duperty late in responding to your comment, but i learned how to race on F1-like tracks in AMERICA and this is a road course in sonoma, california which is in AMERICA. just saying.

  • Bam! Lmao XD

  • i hope u get aids and die that is a horable thing to say

  • why

  • When your pro, you shouldn't make the mistake of braking, and leaving your car on the track. It's a tough quick decision, I know. You're a pro, let the damn car roll off the track.

  • scary

  • pow!!!

  • yea but they have better braking then regular cars

  • Obviously the person couldn't stop. Look at those tires, they don't got grip.

  • you do realize that "slick" tires such as the ones in the video are suuuuper sticky and have more grip than you could possibly imagine...right?

  • wait who said slick tires aren't better than normal tires. well i know you know but slick tires provide a larger contact patch with the pavement. go look at the tires on your street car, those are all weather and because of the treading, only about 50% of the potential rubber is touching the road. while driving on wet roads, the treading is perferred because it separates and spreads the water to the sides of the tire so the contact patch can always be in contact with the road

  • huh? i didnt say that at all. your making the same point that i made

  • oh i was just adding to your statement and trying to educate these noobs, my bad

  • oh haha thanks then

  • @rjattack19 enough to rip the skin off your body haha

  • Noma!

  • Interlagos is one of the most favorite tracks by the pilots as it has curves up and down like Spa.

  • goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

  • watch elzie bibbs on youtube

  • Don't they have brakes

  • That are going around the blind corner at over 100 mph... It takes a while to stop...

  • Oh my god, marioc!!!! :O

    this is horrible: /watch?v=5V-QszdvebA

  • He's dead now!

    /watch?v=5V-QszdvebA

  • WRONG!

  • Will Power?

  • This just proves that Indycar drivers are dumb as hell!

  • the commentator is making it sound like its nelsons fault. what a friggin idiot. you dont thinks about that kinda thing when your spinning out at 100 mph

  • A normal person, no. A race car driver, yes.

A guy driving a car that races around curves at over 100 mph should be able to think quick enough to let the car roll backward off the track. Even I know that and I don't race cars!

  • my channel is billy78748788

  • oh no

  • I've seen bigger crashes in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

  • LOL

  • well hope u be in one next time

  • yeah, what an idiot. blind corners can make a track what it is, i think you should get with the times buddy.

    great quality for the vid.

    Get well soon Will

  • Mate, Will Power is from Australia and in case you didn't notice it was a blind spot.

  • You're an idiot. Will Power is Australian, Nelson Phillippe is French, and EJ Viso is Venezulean. None of these guys are stupid, by the way, and you need to get your facts straight.

  • @ammakichutt the people involved in the crash were australian and french...you feel smart now dumbass?

  • @ammakichutt super-duper late with this but 1. the three guys in this crash aren't american and 2. i'm american and in the few weeks that i've been in 11th grade my lowest grade has been a 95, and many kids in my grade get straight 100s on their report cards. so, no, we aren't all stupid.

  • bad crash, great quality

  • That's a bad crash. Side impacts are always worse. I'm impressed with the video quality of this clip though! Just about the best I've ever seen on YouTube!

  • What a fucked up track...and then they go and blame the driver for not getting his car out of the way. How about fixing the fucking track so folks can see what is in front of them as they're going 150mph

  • What a stupid thing to say, most tracks have blind corners. In fact, many of the greatest race tracks in the world have blind corners. See Spa Francorchamps, Laguna Seca, Brands Hatch.

    Idiot.

  • Still, I don't have funny seeing someone in a situation like that.

And having a blind spot still isn't a good thing. I don't care if others tracks have. I'm from Brazil, and Interlagos is full of them. Racing is already dangerous, why increase the danger?

  • It's not increasing the danger, you talk as if this is a new track....

  • That's why I don't like some old tracks. I'm from Brazil, but I think Interlagos not good.

But at least they change the levels every year to flat it more and more.

  • and this was a practice lol

  • fun

  • i would have gotten away on my 360

  • lol

  • That was not massive.

  • I live around sonoma..

  • is the guy in the green go cart ok??

  • umm...go cart??

  • It's a bad and awful year in racing.

  • that shit is better quality than my plasma tv watching in HD..and question.why did he just sit there? is there no reverse? he didnt want to pull out ? CPU fail? wats up

  • i dont think indy cars have reverse but if they do, i dont think his engine was still running, and if it was, he is just a horrible driver.

  • Indycars have no reverse and no on-board starters, and usually after an incident like that they stall. Crappy design, but everyone's known that for years.

  • dont worry we wont

  • Like a Demolition Derby ..lol

  • whats with all the fighting on here????? The track is safe enough and it was a just a simple racing crash no one to blaim. Now take a brake people!!

  • Take a brake? He shouldn't use his brakes and stand still on the runway.

  • auch :(

  • La vie en blue Prescott - Lotus T98 2008

  • jeepers, I guess it comes with the turf though.

  • "Will Power"... wtf were his parents thinking??

  • Power suffered a concusion, and 2 broken vertibrea. and Phillipe had an open fracture on his left foot and a minor concusion.

  • Do they not use radios to tell other drivers about track hazards in practice runs?

  • were is yellow flags??

  • LOL Americans.. switch to basketball!! XD

  • LOL nepal

  • Fuck, as the announcer said...he should have gotten off of the racetrack.

I hope everyone lived because that was brutal.

  • Hope the pilot is good!!!
