What sutcliffe62 is saying is that the 4th note (C#) of the riff is the C# of an A chord. Most people who play this riff fail to hear that it is actually D to E via a quick A chord.
So on that 4th C# note you need to be holding down an Amajor chord, not a Dma9
Thanks for the video. I was imagining all kinds of weird tunings for this one to sound right. What you are doing in standard sounds correct. The spirit of our instrument is to help others and you are sure doing that so thanks!
Could you tell me what exactly the modele of your guitar? I know that it's an Epiphone Reviera's one but which modele? Thanks for replying (sorry for my english, i'm french).
I dont have this song on CD or record to listen to or play with. I have just worked the song out from memory hearing of the song. This helped me a bunch, especially the Bm chord. Thanks.
Thank you so much for making this video. It was really clear, so helpful. You're great at explaining things. Although I only came across the video looking for Bowie how-tos, I'm going to subscribe, because I'm sure anything else you decide to breakdown will be interesting, too. Thanks! xx
thanks a lot mate ! I have tried to learn this song from tabs a long time now, and after 10 minutes watching you i was able to play the song :) thanks!
really great lesson--however you miss the three-note chord that actually makes the third and fourth note in the riff, just before strumming the e chord.
Ok now that ive had time to work on this i am getting it good.Great Lesson.I used a similar guitar,an Ibanez AS83 lefty with a bigsby and Filtertron p\u's with all pots.switch upgraded into a Laney solid state LV200 on drive2 channel with a little verb,no pedals.Quite suprised how close i got to your sound.More lessons please! That was great.Cheers from Canada-left coast
You know i'm quite dissapointed you only have one video.Your first video was really good and i look forward to anything else you put out.You sound like a mick Ronson fan.Kick out another lesson Bruvah!
The one in the video is a vintage Epiphone Riviera, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan. If you ever see one, buy it they are so neat but I haven't come across too many!

Great lesson, best one I've seen for this song on the interwed. Thanks.
For tone Mick Ronson used a Les Paul Custom with a Wah. He used to dial in the mid range bite with the pedal and leave it there.
