  • cant wait for this to come out im going to deffinatley get it

  • Whats the response of Google and Apple to this ?

  • Samsung will surpass HP and DELL soon .

They will make big money with Windows 8.

  • I've been an apple fan for a few years now, but this looks really cool. I'm waiting to see how all these bells and whistles will impact the hardware, though, but if hardware manufacturers can come up with solid tablets at reasonable prices, I think the iPad will finally have truly worthy competition, and both OSs will benefit as a result.

  • I want a tablet with windows 8 now. That's awesome!

  • Metro seems like it would be more of a "feature" on a desktop...but looks amazing on tablets :)

  • Uhhhh, aren't all these features things Apple has been doing for years?

  • @88desantis No. The IPad is just toy by comparison. Entirely useless as a business tool. Kiss your Apple toys goodbye business professionals. Unfortunately Apple will probably never be on the ropes like they were before MS bailed them out in the 90's (darn!), but hopefully their user base will be reduced to the tiny band of pretentious Jeep, VW, and now Prius driving hippies they were prior to the success of the IPod, IPhone and the Asian developed, Apple purchased IPad.

  • Linux 4 Ever!

  • @JattThe159 Very interested in the Spark and other Linux tablets.

  • That task switching looks ridiculously bad. Do I really have to switch through my 15 open windows to get back to the last one?

  • When would be released?

  • I installed Windows 8 prerelease last night on my tablet (MSI Windpad 110W). It kicks so much ass and is a lot more user friendly than Windows 7 for tablets. I'm not sure if Windows 8 will be good for desktops though unless they make some changes between desktops and tablets.

  • Wow! It's really brilliant, I'll buy it

  • Can we install Photoshop and other Major software's??

  • @mitchellsheehan Yes. It won't be optimized with Windows 8 touch interface, but you can run any program that 7 can.

  • @mitchellsheehan Yes of course. It's a Windows OS and as such will be compatible with your software.

  • I'm Gonna Buy this Tablet for sure. .This is brilliant. . :)

  • @UFOProductionsNL No the IOS is not what the IPad should be running on and having the same software for tablets and computers is a great Idea obviously they have to make some changes for touch, but they should definetly not do it like the iPad and just use there iPhone software.

  • Ipad better but how much cost

  • What people do not realize is this is no different to the transition from MSDOS to Windows. Don't you remember we used to type "win" from DOS prompt to run Windows? It's not different. Microsoft knows there's no place for desktop computing in the future, the same way we don't use command lines anymore.

  • Microsoft need to know the difference between a tablet os and a Desktop/ Notebook os. They should make two. One for a tablet (Like ios) And one for the Desktop/ notebook (Like Osx).

I'm sure Windows 8 for tablets is going to do really well... But for de Pc..... C'mon Microsoft think clever! Don't change the Os too much on the pc, people who are used to the normal Windows will go for Osx if there will be tiles and other main differences!

  • 4:42...I SAID IT TO

  • after wp7, aindows is working hard for windows plateform

atleast windows phone 7.5 and 8 are very smooth in comparison to android

  • The possiblities are endless... just imagine....

    the viruses on this thing!

  • haha, like if youve got 2 windows open on your pc while at 5:05

  • Im a apple guy 

  • Shut up and take my money!!!!! I can't believe I was thinking of getting an iPad... I really can't wait for it!

  • how can anybody dislike this? iDisliking?

  • we want to see the piano app!

  • i think i kinda like it

  • Sales* fucking auto correct.

  • @standman007 Apple will still get more sled though :(

  • Ios kick ass

  • Windows 8 OS and hardware that's like Asus Transformer Prime (with 3g/4g) and I'm off to get a tablet.

  • I guess Microsoft will be able to stand up to Android not Apple!

  • wow! Love it but its too big! Lol

  • im definately gonna change to Mac :)

  • OMG this tablet looks amazing. I'm definitely gonna get one. First thing I'll do with it you ask? Download a Firefox app. Never been a big fan of Internet Explorer...much prefer firefox.

  • @TemperatureIndicator Current predictions estimated much of the internet will be in html 5 and internet explor to get out being "slow" is speeding up it making it much faster and will take over flash and now ie 10 will be much faster than any internet making it much like an ios browsing experience.

  • @CHILLxBROKAMP It isn't so much the speedyness of it, I've just gotten used to firefox now and it hasn't changed the UI that much in the past 5 years whereas IE always seems to change. I used to have a really old computer and IE was always slow and always crashed whereas firefox worked. On my current computer, IE is faster to load up but I do prefer firefox as I am accustomed to it and I don't really like the UI of IE. Personal preference honestly.

  • @TemperatureIndicator

only firefox don't stop you from dowlading viruses google chrome stops and ie

  • @luki199799 sometimes firefox

  • @luki199799 I've never really liked IE, found it too buggy and takes ages to load stuff up. I use a virus checker that checks your internet browser at the same time so Chrome is pointless for me, I just prefer firefox. Some prefer Chrome, people like IE less and less. I just choose to like firefox. I used have a slow computer and firefox was the most reliable one for me and the fastest then for me.

  • @TemperatureIndicator firefox is good :)

  • @luki199799 indeed it is, and more flexible to use and less chaotic in its layout.

  • Oh god i cant wait for this. I would really like a tablet, but with the way they're currently presented, it's embarrassing. The productivity is incomparable to a PC. It's like Google and Apple took a 20 year step back in user experience. Menus? Tapping? Only one app on a screen? Seriously?

We need swiping, combined gestures and multiple views.

On a PC i can have 2-3 windows open and operate on them all without using my pointer device: no selecting, no going back and forth in menus. Just working.

  • @batukhan but this is tablet version !!!!

  • @mightynaing If you're talking about windows that is amazing, it's not on the Prime.

  • I have to admit that this is freaking AMAZING .. I am abt to buy transformer prime quad core. That video just stunned me.

  • Went out to buy an ipad yesterday, had it in my hands and talked myself out of it. After seeing this I'm glad I did. I backed down simply because of the poor compatibility with my laptop. I couldn't even find a simple way to password protect my docs. This will work seamlessly with lap/desktops and windows phone. Might even have Xbox access.

  • but I must say this is WIN :)

  • since when HTML & CSS became a programming languages?

  • @mirkin78 Well, i guess one could say, that they're part of the HTML+CSS+JS package. Yes, JS is really the programming language, but it's so much weaker without the other two. Other software development tools are heading in this direction as well. I'm sure you know, Android software has it's code written in Java, while the UI portion is defined in an XML form. I think it's a much more efficient and concise way to develop software, than with the traditional line-by-line coding.

  • This is Microsoft, bringing back innovation.

  • I feel lame watching this with my windows 7 laptop....

  • this is going to kick the ipads ass. I have one now and it drives me nuts that that they dont support flash or java. fuck IPad.

with this tablet, i can download real apps and games because it has a operating system with a drive system.

I cant wait to get my hands on this.

Microsoft is back baby. fuck apple.

  • i am sure and convinced that Microsoft knows how to make OS

  • @standman007 Dude they have always made a great OS. It's just it was built for power and running heavy stuff. WIndows was made for the experienced computers techs and extreme software editing and making. Apple was built for speed and mobility. It is made for people with little knowledge about computers. Who just want a fast machine and don't do much on it. Any computer nerd like me can tell you apple is a waste of money.

  • Apple going down this time.

I love it when he said (We design Windows 8 from the ground up) NOT like fucking Apple got the same look almost every fucking time.

  • FUCKING W O W !! lol

  • microsoft rules!!!! sorry

  • Wait! , so I can run wow on a tablet :D?

  • Comment removed

  • From a long time ago... I always though that THERE IS NO WAY Apple could ever be better than Microsoft...

  • finally microsoft brings some hurricane to the techs

  • Let me get this straight. I have a windows 7 labtop. Will this new tablet do everything my labtop can? So...... i will finaly have a handheld game system which i can play dune 2 on the go?

    Cant wait to get 1.

  • outside of the side-by-side/multitask (which is really neat)... its just like android with widgets and panels.. nothing that unique.

feels like microsoft just combined android, ios and webos. yawn.

  • @cwwr7 true, but difference is that this works on all platforms! Meaning you can run normal pc programs on your tablet!

Cant wait to have microsoft office and other pc apps on my tablet!

Android, IOS and webos cant do this...

  • @manmad91 - Which is good. I think Microsoft is too far behind in the mobile marketplace if they were to only support mobile apps.

Question though... Most tablets coming out are 1 GeeBee of ram. Do you think MS tablets will support more if they're going to support a cross-platform OS?

  • @cwwr7 1 gb ram is the minimum system req. , my guess is that they are optimizing it so it works fine on 1 gb devices. Windows 7 should work on 1gb ram devices (havent tested it though), so i guess windows 8 will also work.

Lets hope windows 8 uses less ram and space than windows 7

  • @manmad91 - Yea. We'll see. I personally love Android. Stokes for Asus Transformer Prime and ICS.

  • @cwwr7 Ya, i also love android, and i think android will remain the nr 1 smartphone OS and will hold himself nicely in the tablet market. But personally, i would get windows 8 instead of android on my tablet because it can run windows programs. Which is usefull for my work. And notting can compete with microsoft office atm

  • @manmad91 Sorry to break it but you prolly won't be able to run most windows applications on a tablet due to some internal stuff, so you can't say play wow on the tablet.

  • @syltman As far as I'm concerned you can't play WOW on any tablet !

  • @gazoothebassplayer Err perhaps the x86 tablets, they're quite expensive though

  • @cwwr7 true. but you could also remote in pretty easily.

  • This is what a tablet should be

  • i am just thinking that this is a REAL copy of ipad!! (windows store, the way that you scroll......)

  • I like it.

  • Hey guys I have this new windows 8 tablet from qualcomm, but I do not know if it works because I do not have a charger for it. I am selling it AS-IS, it looks new from the outside it has its plastic on the camera lens, but I have no idea if it works. Check out my listing and offer me a price. This is a one of kind since it hasnt been released yet so please understand that.

The item number on ebay is 170723580490

  • I'm pretty damn impressed actually.

Looking forward to getting a W8 tablet next year!

  • Yeah.XD

  • i have a windows phone and it had titles i love it this looks good too

  • If they can get this on a tablet for under $400 IFAD is D-E-A-D!

  • this demo is awesome, but the problem is that the release date is far away (1 year from now from what I've heard), meanwhile iOS and Android will have some enhancements that Windows 8 won't eventually, I hope they hurry with the release of this...

  • can windows media player on windows 8 directly plays FLV or MP4 videos? or do we still have to download and install a codec pack?

  • I'm returning the A500 I just purchase.

    i'll wait for this one.

  • one ugly piece of plastic. not even mentioning it is like four years late.

  • I love Android but i cant do everything i do on PC.

Android for phone! Windows 8 For Tablet :D!

  • @germaanv

yeah. i want to the same thing like on pc. so I can easily take the tablet at school or work.

  • Most applications, games are made for Windows XP and 7, if you let those applications work properly in Windows 8, its gonna be a huge success. I would definitely buy one.

Yes Ipad Applications are cool, but Windows has way too many applications and games that if implemented in the windows 8 tablet, nothing would stop him.

btw, Very Fast touch screen, smooth.

  • Gotta give 'em praise for open standards like HTML5, Javascript and CSS. Can't see why everyone is hating this. To compete with Android and iOS this is the move they need to make. And I actually think this will be rather good, and I'm writing this on a Macbook Pro :O

  • i keep Windows XP thak you, 7 gave alot of problems and 8 comes with a UEFI function which makes sure that the files put on a usb device can only be accesed by w8 and blocks linux from being installed as an os.

  • sure you'll still need a laptop

just because windows 8 can run fast with only like a 1ghz cpu and 512MB of ram, doesn't mean everything else you'd want to run a normal pc will run with those low specs

so you're not exactly going to be playing pc games or using programs like itunes on a windows 8 tablet unless they make them with still 3GB or more of ram and like 2ghz core duo cps

the whole point of windows 8 on a tablet is to use the new metro ui, but otherwise the desktop is mostly usless

  • Looks pretty good if you ask me.

  • 4:42 applause for ability to tile the screen... ? people are easily impressed apparently

  • i like the tiles, and the idea of same OS on desktop+tablet. however I would prefer a Linux to do that over windows. I think you could easily adapt a Linux tiling window manager & customize apps to do whats needed.

  • My dad thinks I'm a nerd and it makes me cry at night. :'(

  • wow... now i'm starting to think that a laptop is "old school"... anyway, tablets are mostly for entertainment!

  • @sqrdcube mostly yes =) but i for example would use them in my job: website designer and print media designer. it must be pretty cool to be able and go to your customer and show stuff. and with windows 8, if they can make it happen, i would love to be able and change things right there.

thats what i call usefull technology =)

altough i couldn't imagine to work all the time on a tablet: i have 3 screens on my computer because i use various programms at one time =) (power is also an issue tough)

  • I have to admit, I am pretty impressed by the fluidity of the multithreading between apps. Being able to share your screen space with multiple apps is genius too, something neither android or iOS has as of yet. Nice going Microsoft! Can't wait to see the finished project. This is definitely going to raise the bar on the tablet OS front.

  • If it's good as a PC will it run BF3 when it comes out?

  • @555Starscream Does your PC can run BF3?

  • @OneGoodCompany Innovation begets future innovation. Steve Jobs is a visionary and a pioneer and now it looks like Microsoft is finally coming up with a relevant response to iOS. I love competition ;-)

  • @tom9730 are you honestly trying to claim that ipads or androids can be used for work? This actually has a pc home screen

  • Why does he keeps using the word "App" D:?

  • I just installed this on the Acer Iconia tablet. It runs just fine. Quite interesting but will be hard to get used to. But 95 was hard to get used to from 3.1 as well.

  • shit man. If I can't install this on my Motorola Xoom I'd be all for buying another device.

  • And thats why bill gates is the man

  • @icebird109

Bill gates had nothing to do with Win 8, hell he didnt even do anything to design Windows 1, he bought it of someone else.

gates is simply a rich kid who had enough money to buy whatever he wanted

  • @icebird109 Bill gates is the new Steve Jobs.

  • i have to admit.. i hate microsoft but this actually looks pretty good

  • 6 new features.

    and..?

  • THIS IS NOT

Its a pc with a thouch screen

    probably has a porweful i7

not a tegra or another tablet processor

    fake

  • @andresantanacont of course this is a prototype of the tablet, but i've heard that the released tablets will have a tegra 3 quad core processor, so i think it will run fast as well

  • I'm impressed, might be rethinking that iPad purchase

  • WoW this definitely tops the iPads OS and it's not as fragmented as Android

This might be a tablet I like......

Now it's Microsofts job to make the Xbox 360s better and not outdated like they seem

  • Responsive yea.. Easy to use.. No.. Looks kinda complicated UI.. Also I thought that Balmer said they have no interest in tablets?? So what happened baldy?

  • Amazing!! I Cant wait!! :)

  • Microsoft is really doing their research. Nice work.

  • Nice, so I can hide the porn with a flick of a thumb.

  • @cuplajsu but the oh uh ~~ oh oh ~~~ uh `~~ sound will run in background

  • @throxnet shit!

  • I love Android, but Windows 8 in a tablets is ten times better to do the same we do in the pc =)

  • Thumbs up if you wasted 9:21 minutes of your life waiting that guy open the Piano app.

  • I don't like windows no more because bill gates is going to control population growth with vaccines whatever that's supposed to mean :S

  • Oh come on this is hardly moving the tablet market forward. What is this bringing to the table that we don't already have? By this time next year they will have caught up to where Apple is now. Meanwhile, Apple will have pressed on ahead.

  • @DaSquirrelsNuts What, a big Zune to match Apple's big iPod Touch?

  • @NotTart5 I don't think Apple done too bad with the iPad...

  • Mosaic UI is good, but if new windows visual style will be the same as Win7 it will be most epic fail of Microsoft!!! New visual style must be Metro UI or Zune style. Say NO to rounded corners and raised buttons!

  • Manchester United Rooney and chicharito @ 5:71

    Windows 8 Tablet rocks

as the prophecy to level the force said:

Steve Jobs: We're better than you are! We have better stuff.

Bill Gates: You don't get it, Steve. That doesn't matter!

  • I have a feeling something like this will be the future of portable computers. Ok, laptops.....I have an extremely fast laptop with full upgrades and everything, but I barely even need to hit the potential that it has. Why carry such a large laptop with me all the time? Now, w/ win8, if I want to just screw around, I use the tablet version. If I want to type something, I just snap a keyboard and change it to normal version for productivity. Of course, I'm just talking about "normal" laptop use.

  • @asianoutcast87 Apple already has that >.<

  • @keenkennyny

The ipad? Nobody can do any type of productive work on it. I felt like pulling my hair out when the only thing I had was an ipad to do my homework. I know this guy in my class who loves to bring his ipad. When he needs to type, he brings out his keyboard. And then when he needs to do something else, he takes his macbook out.

  • in order to compete with ios they must launch a good appstore

  • I am going to be getting a Windows Phone 7 and a Windows 8 tablet for work when it is released. Why? Because while the iPad might be a fun toy, need something serious for work that will let me do what I need to do.

  • wtf u guys need to calm down srsly this i sonly in a WORK IN PROGRESS

  • @Agomongo1235 oh great so ms software works great while they are work in progress and like shit in actual life.... YAY....

(isn't it supposed to be the opposite?)

  • Honestly this is the only true competitor to the iPad. I wanna see how this evolves as we get closer to release, I just hope MSFT doesn't fuck it up

  • @Urmz Kids read these comments. Whatch your language!

  • I'm more of a netbook person, I really don't like virtual keyboards. I'll probably buy it for my desktop though

  • @eateroftheflame not evene asus eee pad transformer 2 ? will be on windows 8 and you have a keyboard with it, lol

  • 1,366x768 widescreen. Fine for now, but if iPad3 rumours are true and it gets a boost to retina display, that res won't be that impressive any more. And these will definitely be out long after iPad3. Still, good work Microsoft. Competition truly does benefit the users.

  • @mrbreaker101 retina display has lower resolution and this is os is frikin desktop for Christs sakes. The ipad software is just crap, just a hugeee iPhone. Only advantage it has over windows 8 are more apps n the stupid ppl who buy them

  • I am impressed, I am a Webos fan and this is like Webos on steriods!!! I've been watching this video over and over in astonishment that MS actually came up with an OS that will compete. I love what I see, I want it now... Don't fail to be quick to the market like Webos did. The gesturing, the synergy, andt the multitasking all amazingly fresh and innovative!

  • Tablets are useless. They are not a real notebook, not a real smartphone. Who needs it? That's what I thought about tablets until now.. this looks great. Now I want to have one too :D

  • Wow, all this running smoothly on one single tablet will sure prove to become a sure buy.

With all this I don't see the need for having a laptop anymore.

  • @93Berra Actually, Having a physical keyboard, something we've all grown to love is a bonus. If i could get used to thumbing it with that ergo thumboard, i agree..Going to be a tough one though

  • @93Berra

Yeah, that's exactly what Im looking for. I mean I don't want to have a tablet with android or ios, I just want to have a tablet with windows that looks like on my notebook. I want to surf in the internet to look for information. I want to be able to open and edit office documents with word, powerpoint, und excel.

And to install software like on my notebook. Because the notebook is big, and the tablet is just comfortable.

  • really cool, microsoft has this advantage to bind pc, tablet, smpartphone, xbox together seamlessly, i will definitely be interested to buy one

  • Superb man smooth real smooth junk android & ios WiN 8 All the way

  • ONE STEP WINDOWS 8 TRANSFORMATION: jafiles {DOT} net/0KCD6

  • I must say, this is quite good.

  • ear rape

  • on the multitasking, when you swipe from the left, be great if you're a shown a multitasking windows showing all apps that are open then click the app you want to switch to... just like on the smartphone...

  • alot negativity about this product when it has not even gotten past the milestone stages of development. i have to say i think this looks very beautiful and it will most likely have all the functionality and control that i need in a tablet that has not been offered in ios, webos and android. therefore i imagine that i will be a user from day one.
