Gosh I miss 70's music!! I was offered tickets to go see ABBA in Indianapolis. I don't remember now why I didn't go, but obviously it couldn't have been too important.
in the early 80,s I had a VHS concert of some live Abba concert versions of their best songs. A good friend of mine watched the concert with me. After it was finished he told me not to mention he had watched it to his wife. reason: the Abba girls are gorgeous and his wife was rather "huge". if we only had more stuff like this these days it would be more fun having a powerful stereo.
I just love that little thing Aggie does at 3:58 when Dancing Queen ends...what a great concert and a marvelous group ABBA was...the Wembley audience were great!!
i was really 17 that time it was a hit in Manila--1977; and truly i dance like a queen----i love this song so much and my favorite Agnetha and Anni-Frid; Now I got 2 cute daughters, Aggie, 19 and Monina Nuguid, turning 17 this Jan19th---a very good choreographer....HAPPY 2011 out there moms of music loving kidz....
Dancing queen! What a magic song: "You are the dancing queen, young and sweet,, only seventeen. (...) You can dance, you can jive, HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE"...Who could be young forever....
ABBA was one of my favorites growing up! I heard one of their songs once, and I was hooked! After that, I had to have every song they every song they ever put out
One other thing: How in the world is that guy able to keep the rythym going doing that part at about 7:20 onwards. I would have played myself to death!
when i hear this it reminds me of when fred sings it in his one video only his goes "he's a dancing king young and sweet only 6 years old oh yea" lol but i danced to this song when i was lil it was really cute i had a solo part
Abba will always rock! But the best thing about them is that they never ruined it by reforming, they made the right decisions and that made them perfect
I"m 49 and I wish like hell there were some way to turn the clock back 30 years. Sadly, all we have are these videos and memories of better times past.

Mighty ABBA !! It's 2009, I'm 49yrs old and you have always lifted my spirit. I crank up your GOLD album alot and let you roar.
You are still with us, stronger and wiser now, and I hope you all are basking in the warm love of this fan who adores you to the end. No matter the disappointments, the irritations, cherish each other, nourish each other, and be ABBA!
Anni-Frid,Benny,Bjorn,Agnetha may your swords always be sharp, and your campfire warm and friendly!! RoyBoy ;)
@primerib01 Well said. The nostalgic memories that emanate from every note and word of their music could never be replaced by any musical ensemble from the last 30 years. Call them what you will, whether it be 'teeny-bopper', 'disco', 'pop', or anything else, they personified the sounds and genre of those times. I miss them still and always will.
Hellacious yes..by now both marriages were done..DYMK? was the first single where the men sang the lead..I think they wrote the song to see if they could carry on without the girls..conclusion: they couldn't..their singing just wasn't as good; the song didn't chart well..the ladies sound tired here in DQ but their defiance in DYMK? is obvious..the dirty looks to Bjorn then they put major moves on the guitarist during his too-long solo.. the men became theater songwriters; Frida went solo after.
How I would love to get my hands on Agnetha's dress. I usually don't care for glitzy and sexy, but this dress is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. Reminiscent of a 1979 bathing suit / legging combo! Wonder if it's in a landfill now.
I'm a die hard rocker...Zep, Deep Purple...all that stuff...I'm a drummer...love the 'groove'...I would give my Left...uhhh, stick to play with this band...doing this tune...right by god now...I remember this from 30 years ago...I was soooo in love with Agnetha!!! Mien Kliene Schotzie!! My mom's name was Lise-Lotte...ich bin en Hamburger!
I LOVE Agnetha's facial expressions at 5:50. It is almost like she is screaming, BJORN.. i do not HAVE to sleep with you anymore.. GO AWAY! it is wonderful!
Oh Bjorn. Of all the ridiculous costumes, yours were the worst. Benny always seemed to escape the really bad ones, and the girls were so gorgeous that they transcended them. Poor Bjorn.
abba rocks ! remember meeting with Agnetha, we were talking almost 1 hour ! It was the most wonderful time in my live 1981 ;D i got her autograph ! :D
No, this was live, there was no playback on the '79 tour. But there were backing vocals and a backing band, so that may account for any discrepency in what you see and what you hear.
One thing's for sure, you really have a keen eye! That's hard to pick up but I see what you mean.
I can't imagine that it's playback though. All these songs are noticeably different from the studio versions.
What happens is he smiles at Frida and the line is, "take it nice and slow" as the camera loses sight of him. If you'll notice, your lips do not move if you smile like him (open mouth) and sing "take it nice". Try it yourself, then watch the clip again. Am I right? : )
Hi. Yes, you're right, there is a discrepency there, but this doesn't appear to be playback related. It seems that Bjorn stopped singing briefly as he smiled as Frida, and the missing line was later over-dubbed for the film. That's how it appears to me, it certainly seems to be a post-production issue rather than a playback issue, as they are certainly live vocals.
These guys are getting down!!Well, I wonder if their mother know that they're out?!!Huh, well, who knows! Just keep singing....we're all having fun out here/there or wherever. Thanks 7ABBA7.
...Dancing Queen is one of my all timme favourites, I loved it when I was 12 and I still love it!! All of their songs were great compositions and still are, great music and I love to see them singing together, one can see that they love their music and they love performing it, so sweet, amazing!!!!
I find it funny that in The Abba Movie the parents are all saying, "Well they're nice and CLEAN." Well that guitar solo wasn't perfectly clean, now was it? Heheheheh.
Funny. I'm watching all these vids and reading comments and thought to myself...all the comments about Agnetha and Frida how beautiful they are (and they are) but havent seen anything about Bjorn or Benny. Then I pull up this one and there it is from sadlookinmoon and lauri2007. bummer the song is cut short.
lol well no matter how beautiful Aggie or Frida looks they won't make me a vageterian. Björn was a real hottie back in the days, how can anyone resist that pretty face and fine ass??:))
I remember having seen this video at the time. I love it when Björn comes close to Agnetta and they look at each other - he has that "perversito" look - so sexy! Agnetta was so pretty! Eran grandiosos, what else can I say!
This version of Dancing queen sounds good with some flourishes here and there. Does your mother know is an awesome version shown here with guitar solos and the whole bit then top that off with the great back up singers and musicians and you have an expeirience
@michellestmarie I saw them live twice. No greater words of bull$hit were ever rumored. They absolutely rocked both times. I have seen HUNDREDS of performances! Theirs ranks high in the top ten!
The lip-sync'd ones are tv promotion appearances. It's just the same thing as every music video where the performers mime the whole song. The purpose was to get out there and sell the record. Neither the cheap tv stations nor many of the groups would want to pay for all the pro gear and players necessary for a proper live performance. Sometimes they'd sing live to a backing track. Just cheap marketing back then, that's all. As you can see, they reproduce their sound just fine live.
How did that guitar player keep his cool with two dolls like that holding onto his legs? At this point in their short career it looked like the whole group truly enjoyed their music and were in love with life. So much of their love of life comes through in their music.
