  • This movie reminded me of tales from the crypt .. it was OK.. wasnt great but it was fun to watch for a bit

  • the best Halloween themed movie ever EVER made . seriously .

  • this movie definitely captured the feel of the Halloween spirit for me

  • i love trick r treat and wouldv'e loved to have seen it in theaters! it's by far one of my fave movies ever!

  • i loved trick r trick its needs to be on the big screen not just on dvd

  • This is the best Halloween movie ever, no other movie has made me cheer and cackle as much as this movie did. it is beautifully written and shot, and is amazingly true to legend. I LOVE IT, and ALWAYS will.

  • Without a doubt one of the best Halloween anthology movie I've ever seen. The visuals in this movie were pretty good to say the least.

I just bought this movie cause I loved it soo much. No matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old. :D

    I hope there's a sequel.

  • I personally LOVE this movie its the type of move tht never gets old the basic plot of this move is u have to follow these 4 halloween rules or else ....... The whole time i was watching this movie i was like why wasnt this movie in theatres? Over all this is a great movie with lots of great twists i HIGHLY recommend this movie

  • This is the kind of movie that you want to watch every Halloween. I'd like to see a sequel of some kind as long as Dougherty does it.

  • With all the praise and interest that was going behind the film back in 2007, why the hell did it take Warner Bros two fucking years to finally release it???

  • @persianking44 Cause it was not a remake. They we're concerned that a original horror film could not make any real money at the box office so they needed to keep that space open for the latest remake.

  • I'll have to say even for a low budget movie I'm impressed. And as for the upcoming sequel to Trick r' Treat, it's best if Micheal Dougherty stuck with animatronics considering that they appear more "true-to-life" compared to the CG used in the horror movies nowadays. Nothing personal guys, CG is good but has been done to death with all these Syfy animal attack movies and such.

  • One of the best and coolest films I've seen in years! It was too bad it never went to the big screen D: I still tell everyone and anyone that hasn't seen it to borrow it from me or buy it themselves.

  • I love this movie. The fact it didn't use big budget CGI is probably the reason it was so good. It relied upon suspense and storyline rather than phony looking special effects.

  • This movie was amazing, and the fact that it was a low budget film seems to make it that much more amazing. They didn't use all the effects that most movies nowadays use, but it was still great. I'm surprised and sad to know that this movie never got it's chance on the big scream, when movies that are crap did.

  • Anyone know if there is going to be a sequel?

  • @momentofsciencetx Mike said before the first movie was even released on DVD that he had planned out a few ideas for a sequel, and that he hopes to make a TRT for at least every other Halloween. It's not yet in production, though. I think that if he and his colleagues pay attention to what people are saying on forums, they can edit the next movies so they'll be better (one example of a mistake in my opinion was revealing Sam's face. It wasn't interesting and took away some mystery...

  • Sam is one of the greatest horror movie creatures EVER in my opinion! Gotta love halloween demons :P

  • Just saw this movie and this movie is one of my top favorites now. It is amazing, every little bit of each story is awesome.

Sam, the girls, the kids, the school bus, everything is just amazing, why wasn't this main stream?!?!?!

Yet the new elm street movie was good enough? BAH!

  • Thank the Gods it got released. It could have spent a lifetime unseen. One of the best films I've ever seen, balancing horror and comedy perfectly.

  • A feature length film made for under $5000

The Greatest Movie Of All Time!

Check out my youtube channel, for several trailers :)

  • Actually, i'm glad it didn't hit theatre's.

A lot of these kids today wouldn't even understand this film.

I can easily picture a bunch of "Saw"-obsessed teenager's saying..."This sucks. It doesn't even make sense & it's not even gory."

I love this movie. It constantly keeps you guessing & makes you use your head a little. Unlike most horror movies of today.

  • Mike Dougherty is fuckin sexy

  • sam is so adorable

  • Phenomenal horror flick!

  • This movie is actually ok. Good cast. I give like a 6.

  • Loved this movie, I usually hate CGI, so when they take the time to create monsters with just makeup and costumes it looks great. Go see it if you haven't seen it, also buy it if you like it! We need to get directors to keep making great horrors like this!

  • This film seems like the shit

  • I havnt seen this movie yet

but im really going to buy

    it looks brilliant

  • i def. think this is one of the rare halloween movies you can watch every year, very awesome.this is a movie you probably should watch 2 or 3 times because you may miss some very vital elements of it the 1st time through, one of the best tru halloween films in quite some time.

  • My 7yr old daughter picked this out from the vid store on fri before Halloween because the cover looked scary and then she fell asleep before we had a chance to watch it. I put it on just to check out a few mins before I went to bed cause I was pretty freaking tired myself and I ended up watching the whole damn thing TWICE! Not a slasher movie(which is what I thought it was gonna be) and its not real scary but it has everything Halloween-y that it should! Sam should be the new Mascot of Hween!

  • We watched this for Halloween and I honestly expected it to be the same kind of bargain bin cheap scare crap that so many horror movies fall error to. I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up watching an old-school story-driven movie that was incredibly fun and funny, probably the best Halloween-themed movie I've ever seen. I'll definitely end up owning it! It's such a shame it wasn't released theatrically.

  • loved this movie, bought it and watched it 7 times in a row

  • amazing movie!!!! sam is my favorite!!!!

i want to see more of sam!!!!!

  • I wish this was in theaters, it was a FABULOUS movie. It would have done great in the box office. They really messed up by not putting this in theaters. Trick r Treat would have been one of the top movies, definitely up there with paranormal activity.

  • hollywood is a joke.

this film would have looked great on the big screen.

    beautifully shot.

with all the crap that hits the screen, it's too bad.

  • Amen! I've seen WAY too many "horror flicks" come out in the last 5 years or so that were just...CRAP! So it pisses me off that this little beauty of a film gets passed over for a theatrical release! Everything about this film was excellent and it saddens me to think that the cast and crew busted their ass to make the best thing they could, only to have their peers tell them it's no good...but at least we still have the opportunity to see it!

  • @CabbageRollem when I watched the trailer the the way it was shot and the look was like nothing I seen. while this is a low budget movie its looks better than the big money ones.

  • by far the best halloween movie iv'e seen. the first 15mins of it i fell in love, Sam is the shit!

  • honestly trick 'r' treat is the best movie i've actually ever seen, everything else is crap. well most movies are seriously formed from shit. but this was written in blood and damn it was great.

  • i just wish they didnt show the guy feeding the little kids penis to the dog :l i was like. woah.

  • errr.... honestly I thought it was a finger, until just now.

  • i thought it was a finger too, think about it, he wants the dog to shut up and shut up quick, why would he take the time to cut off his penis? it has more fabric over it than the finger did

  • It looked like a penis to me. Take a better look at it.

  • Yeah, it's a finger...

  • It was a finger, not a penis.

  • good movie

  • This film goes straight to DVD but Transformers 2 gets to go to the big screen?

I don't understand movie studios one bit.

  • I work in the industry, and I don't get it.

  • Well then I guess everybody's crazy in Hollywood.

    : D

  • i have been waiting for this film to come out since 2007... thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I loved it sooo much!!

  • Such a great movie! I was pleasantly surprised! Just loved it. Sam was such an interesting character, and all the stories had their own little twists.

  • Michael Dougherty did such a great job with Trick r Treat, he set the tone and style perfectly, top man, really cant wait to see what he does next, id love to send him a few of my scripts.

  • Just saw it for the 1st time 2 nights ago. watched it over and over yesterday. today as well. got to say. they MUST make a trick r treat 2. just cant get enough of SAM. they must keep his legacy alive.

  • Great picture! Now I know where all Fox TV scheduling execs went after they killed Firefly, they got jobs at Warner Brothers, where they could complain that they "can't figure how to market this film". Sheesh! Saw gets god knows how many sequels and imitators, people keep paying Rob Zombie to crank out more of his one-trick pony schtick, and a great movie like this languishes on the shelves.

  • Just saw this on-demand, and as a die-hard horror fan, I'm going out tomorrow to buy this movie so I can show support and play it every October. (Like Christmas Story for x-mas!).

I agree with everyone, SAM's character was just amazingly well done... how a character so dark, powerful, and amoral could also seem so innocent, cute, and compelling! good contrast!

If you want more SAM, go and buy this movie to show our support! I promise, if the makes DVD money, more Sam will come! Cult of Sam!

  • this was by far the best horror flick in ages.sam rocked.the werewolves surprised the heck out of me.the ghost story was creepy.if your a horror fan pick this up asap.

  • Great movie best that I've seen this year i put it up w/ cult classics such as The Evil Dead, and Donnie Darko

  • I love this movie so much. SAM, And I'm so glad the monsters were'nt CG, that always pisses me off. That and CG blood

  • I just watched this and I think it was good! Its not close to a horror master piece, but its better than the horror garage and remakes coming out of Hollywood these days! Out of the four stories, the only two that I thought that were well done was the bus driver vs. Sam and the ghost story about the bus accident. The other two were lame! But gotta give props to the writer and director for bring something original to the table!

  • Well put!!! As I'm reading your comment I realized that this is EXACTLY the same thing I would have said! This totally embodies how I feel after just watching the movie! lol

  • Trick'r Treat 2 needs to happen with all new cast and stories for us to marvel at, also to keep SAM alive!

  • AMAZING film! Michael Dougherty has created a new classic. Bravo!

  • Awesome movie thanks for finally releasing it, it was too much of a long wait for a great movie!

  • good film cant believe it took 2 years to get it out there im gonna watch it agen soon
