The bottom line is the AP and Coaches Poll screwed ASU that year, to make sure that Florida/FSU would have a rematch in the Sugar Bowl(SEC Country). Not as much money would be made if its FSU/ASU, which it should've been.
Five years later, Meatchicken fans are still whining? Holy shit. You guys got your asses handed to you by Southern Cal and you somehow think you still should have played the Suckeyes again?
@browpatrick Florida went to the Sugar Bowl in 1996 because of a bowl tie in as the SEC champion. There was no "voting" until 1998 when the BCS formed chief. We ended up playing FSU and walloped them.
Don't think just beacsue the OSU and Michigan game had so many points in it that they were simply the top two. They each got their nuts blown off in their bowl games.
@MultiGogators No the AP & Coaches poll voted you guys No. 2 after losing to FSU in the regular season. SO all yall had to do was win the SEC Championship to get a rematch, which is one of the main reasons the BCS is here today. Florida should've dropped out of the Top 5 after that loss, but for whatever reason, the AP and Coaches poll didn't drop you guys as far as they should have.
@browpatrick We dropped to #4 not #2. Where do you get these made up numbers kid? I love the "all we had to do" was win the SEC title game, because that's easy. We lost by 3 points on the road and dropped 3 spots to #4 and then rose one spot to #3 after we beat Bama. ASU (#2) then lost to OSU (#4) in the Rose Bowl. We went to the Sugar Bowl and played FSU do to bowl tie ins and blew them out. It's not hard to understand, well for most.
@MultiGogators It's much harder to win a rematch game when the team you beat can re-adjust and do all the things they didn't do in the first matchup. Thats why Bobby Bowden was so against the rematch and even questioned the motives behind the AP and Coaches Poll for ranking you guys No. 2 after the loss.
@browpatrick WE WENT TO #4 YOU RETARD! Where do see #2 ?!?!?!?!? By the way, we played Bama in a rematch after getting beat at home and lost the rematch in 1999. We beat Auburn in the regular season and then beat them in the 2000 SEC title game. We tied FSU and then lost to them in the 1994 Sugar Bowl. You're not making any sense. This "re-adjustment" you speak of seems to be overrated. We had no issues beating Auburn twice, Bama no issues beating us twice, and FSU tied and beat us.
@MultiGogators No yall went to No. 2. Your number are wrong. ASU was No.3 before yall lost to FSU and stayed No. 3 after yall lost to FSU. Ohio St. wasn't No. 4 because they lost the last game of the season to Michigan, but still won the Big 10, which is the reason for their trip to the Rose Bowl.
It is harder to beat a team in a rematch. So what Florida has had good results with their rematches, the fact is, if you ask any coach, they'll tell you it's much harder to beat a team in a rematch than it is to beat them the first time.
@MultiGogators No you guys dropped to No. 2. ASU started at No. 3 and stayed at No.3. OSU wasn't No. 4. They won the Big 10 title, but they lost to Michigan the last game of the season, which at that time, the Pac 10/Big 10 winners automatically got spots in the Rose Bowl. You need to recheck your numbers. The Voters voted you guys No. 2 to see a rematch.
I thought i'd heard somewhere that had we (Michigan) played and won just one more game (even against a very lowly team) that we would have been in instead of Florida. People can toss the Rose Bowl loss to USC around all they want. End of the day, I believe USC had the best team that year but were prone to not showing up at would-be easy games. (In fact, I believe it was their upset loss vs UCLA that opened the door for FL or UM to become #2) UM-OSU and Flroida-USC would've been fun to watch.
Should have been Michigan. Michigan would have made it closer of a game. Its cause you fucktards didn't want a rematch of the best rivalry in the USA.
@x20michigan Wait a minute. Are you telling me it would have been close because OSU would have scored more points than it did against Florida? Dude... lmao! Win your conference next time ass clown.
I know the argument that is made by Michigan fans for that year is that Michigan's only loss came against #1 Ohio State and the game also took place in Columbus.
If you look at the other side Florida's only loss came against Auburn (#10) in Auburn.
At the end of the day for that particular year it is had to argue that Michigan deserved to be in the game because of how the bowl's ended up. Michigan loosing in the Rose Bowl, and Florida beating Ohio State in the National Championship game
That means nothing. One game does not automatically characterize a team. By the way, it's "losing", not "loosing". If any thing, UM vs UF probably would have been much, much better than watching UF stomp OSU into the ground.
@ausablesteelhead Well we are only left to speculate how the game vs Michigan and Florida would have gone for that particulay year since they did not play. I was simply making the point that for that year when you look at who deserved to play Ohio State that Florida had more wins against top twenty five teams and they won a BCS conference. When it comes down to it the team with the more difficult schedule and more big time wins gets the thumbs up. For the year in question that team was Florida.
People say Michigan worked florida in the capital one bowl.....first of all.......that's retarded. You guys forget so fast that Adrian Arrington made the catch of his career in that game and without it Florida wins that game. The heisman winner wasn't on his back most of that....the FL Defense was on the field most of that game. Tebow had 3 passing touchies and a rushing TD against that...stout...michigan defense. Coach Lloyd gets a ton of credit for this win, and should. But Defense won it
Funny how Herbie is so anti-BCS here butearlier this year he was saying the BCS is great and the reg season=post season horse shit. Oh what the ESECPN can do.
@westonsz maybe but look at how OSU always plays against the SEC if Michigan wouldve played florida in that game they wouldve killed florida. and they wouldve probably won against OSU. i can see why they lost against USC that year they were pissed cuz they got shafted out of a Nat'l title game. im a die hard wolverine and always will be. that was bullshit that was our year
@blitzboy30 The Florida defense Michigan faced in 08 was nothing close to the defense Florida had in 07. There were a few freshmen starters in the secondary that allowed Chad Henne to burn them big time. Troy Smith was the perfect answer for the Michigan defense along with the way JT spread the field against the speed. Had Lloyd got creative the way JT did against us and as he did against Florida Michigan may have won. In the end the conservative play calling just killed us.
@blitzboy30 Lloyds playcalliing aginst the gators was the finest I ever saw out of him. No telling how many losses would have been wins over his career if he trusted Deboard more often and allowed him to open it up that way. The conservative playcalling of Lloyds career was the biggest reason many talented Michigan teams came up short in bowls and never lived up to expectations. The USC defense knew what was coming on every play so the Michigan offense had no chance.
@westonsz I completely agree. Michigan had some stacked team during the Carr Era, yet they always seemed to underachieve. Lots of talent, but often unfulfilled. GO BLUE!
lmoa and florida smashed in that game, and usc smashed us (um), they should have straight gave the rematch and let florida play usc, even if it was suppossed to be a big 10 team......the bowls are all screwy anyways...honestly we need a playoff systems get funds for the schools and add 2 more reg. season games before a tourn. i dont know im dealerious
Save face?Im giving facts, michigan was a better team those 2 years.Im not denying that.In 2002 michigan was clearly the better team. And 2007 they were clearly better by the end of the year. They had more motivation, they wanted it more.Simple as that.Michigan SHOULD have won both years,i wasn't surprised.
Okay, Michigan plays #1 OSU and loses in a close one. Does that make them #2 and earn them the right to a rematch? No, they lost. Florida wins their conference and the right to play OSU. Florida embarrasses, yes embarrasses OSU 41-14.
@baerdog2003 but admittedly that year there is no room to say either michigan or ohio state was deserving, tho i think they were both better teams than they showed in their bowl games
Right, Florida was the right decision. Then Mich beats Florida soundly in the next year's bowl game. SEC whatever. There is a strive to win in the Big 10 that is unrivaled by other conferences. It would have been the best college football game in history.
@sodoesplastic your a dumbass they already played and michigan lost. Then Florida won the National Championship. Also the Florida team michigan beat was not the same Florida team. They lost half their team the year before
I can agree with that, but if Michigan would've the Rose Bowl, their case for being in the national championship would've been much stronger. I know that this video was before the bowl game. However, I think it is clear that Florida deserved to be in the national championship, and even if it were Michigan vs Florida, it's hard to not pick Florida after their performance against Ohio State. If it were Michigan vs Ohio State in a championship, I would've picked Michigan.
The best team rarely wins the NC. Texas almost won this year with a back up QB. How the hell can you leave out an undeafeated team and a team who only lost to the lone undeafeated team. I think it just shows how bad the BCS is. I am one of the biggest haters of the BCS there is.
I agree that the BCS is not the best system to determine a national champion. I'm just saying that Florida proved their worth in the national championship. Hopefully a playoff will take place in college football
@DevilDogSGT07 yea michigan beat Florida the next year after florida won the BCS championship and lost most of their players and were starting freshman and sophomores.
this is how much the Big !0 sucks. Their top 2 teams that year, OSU and Michigan both ot their asses whooped in their bowl games and to think we almost saw a rematch.
uh well.... florida does nt wait 2 months b4 they play in the national championship. they wait a couple of weeks with more game experience because the sec championship over laps the bowl season.. conclusion ohio state has an unfair advantage
kawblondie..alabama got waxed last year against the gators without percy harvin..shits coming again soon..and i would love to lose to michigan every day, then lose to utah..suck a dick faggot..
I hate herbstreit that faggot leaking the Les Miles story before the championship game. that fucker. I hate him.
Mich woulda got les instead of being buying out Gay Rod and we woulda still had Ryan Mallett and the quarterback coach. And our bowl streak would still be intact.
dude if florida would have played osu in the regular season that year we would have destroyed them ohio state was just to full of themselfs going into that game so they got it handed to them plus we didnt hadnt played a game in like a month going into that game
get that finger out of your butt. shouldnt a whole month be great to prepare for that game? its how you look at it and you guys praise your coach for beating up on the big ten. thats why you guys cant beat the best, sec. you guys scored on the kickoff! you guys thought you were going to roll but you forget that we are the sec! we dont roll over that easy thats why its hard for us to get undefeated. you guys are old news and have been so for a while. there is a reason why sec is 5-0 in BCSTG
I still think Michigan and OSU were the 2best teams in the regular season. Big 10 teams need to start scheduling games in december. Especially, if you have a highly competitive game in December that gives you an edge.
michigan may be back this year, but they will have to prove it and run the table to be in a bcs game, maybe championship against a tough big ten conference
Michigan has neither won the championship nor the Rose Bowl in over 10 years. Neither have you guys beat your arch rivals in the last five years. Also you guys are coming off a 3 win season......ummmmm so my question is.....what happen to your football program??????
ummm lets c if u looked at our roster 58% freshman new spread offense that no1 has ever played before new coach all the makings of a crappy year and we had no QB
new coach, new offense, new staff, lost our entire offense thus we are forced to start 18 and 19 year old freshmans, you put that scenario in any team and i guarantee you the same outcome would happen. michigan will be a team here in the future once rodriguez is able to establish his own team and build more experience.
We are back- One thing for sure The SEC and Florida are not shit to Michigan- Cant beat them- 1999-Michigan beat Ark-2000 Orange Bowl Michigan beat Alabama SEC Champs- 2001- Michigan beat Auburn 2002- Lost to TN. 2003 beat the Gators in FL. Outback Bowl. 2008 Beat the Gators in FL with the Heisman Winner on his ass most of the game in FL. Michigans record against the SEC 23-5-1. We have 11 National Championships. We still are the most winning football team in the nation.
We had our chance and it was an epic game. So I aint mad at people who voted for Florida that year. Because it all worked out in the end.....Tressel got embarassed....and couldn't have happen to a better cOckSUcker.
As for Florida...we got our revenge the following year.
It should have been OSU v Michigan, but people got caught up in the no rematch hype. Obviously now in hindsight we know that's not the case, but at the time it should have been a rematch.
That means exactly what NOW and/or THEN in 06. Florida was better than OSU and Michigan in 06... and that was a young, inexperienced team in 07. 08 and 09 is a different story. Completely different team, TALENT, not player wise.
The FLA offense in 06 was not near what it was last year, they added a Running game and they scored a ton of points as opposed to that last title team. They were not blowing people out and it was hard earned, but they had a superior D and a ball control O game with Leak and go tthe job done no matter who you are so and so think was better that year. FLA and USC are the best teams in the leauge the last few years (Sides 07 FL team), it's about they meet.
that Michigan and Ohio State game that year was THE greatest game i have ever seen them play, im young though:) so i didnt get to see any of the classics, it was a great game even though OSU came out on top
Didnt Michigan and OSU get owned in their bowl games this year? OSU VS FL 41-10 and Michigan vs USC 32-18? So the two teams that got spanked should have played for the NC? I think it should have been USC vs FL. I also have no bias towards any of these teams. Proof is on the field.
Yeah, but the point of this video is that everyone at that time thought Michigan was better. It's another example of the BCS getting lucky rather than getting it right. The goal of the BCS is to get the two best teams in the national title game. 80% of college football analysts thought UM would beat UF on neutral field. That's not getting it right.
FLA and USC were the best teams on the field that year, as they were last year too!!! IT IS JUST A MATTER of time before they both meet, they could have that year if USC did not lose those b.s. games and last year too if USC did not lose that game, they are just meant to BE IT SEEMS! BRING IT ON ALREADY.
BWoody, Michigan was 3-9 in 2008, no bowl game for them last year, lol. You must be talking about the 2007 Michigan, but they beat UF in the bowl game.
I still think they should have picked Boise State :p THEY WERE UNDEFEATED......and it doesn't matter that they are in a "non BCS conference", they ended up beating Oklahoma
Well BLUE got crushed against USC and FLA stomped the team that beat MICH! Am I right? I mean thats all makes sense to me there. USC and FLA were the best teams that year, period.
Tedd Ginn was hurt. Michigan didnt show up against USC because of mising out on the title game. Florida barely beat Florida State that year. Do u really think Florida was 41 points better than every team in the country , yeah right Michigan beat them last year without their defense. cmon now.
Here we go with the Tedd Ginn was hurt thing again, like he would stop the penetration on the line of scrimmage from FLA;s D and give his QB time, thats what won the GAME THERE the line play. FLA barely beat FLA state? Once again that FLA D with Reggie Nelson etc. was alot better on D (Pass D) than the one Mich beat, it had a bunch of rooks back there in the secendary, they were not near as strong that year. THey did barely beat FL state, they played alot of close games that year, their O was
hahahaha, too bad 07 florida is the same exact team as 08 Florida. They have never beat Michigan in anything and they never will. Any body can beat Ohio State. Even Illinois beat them.
Totally and utterly incorrect. Florida has basically the same players but the talent on both sides of the ball is of the best in the country now. Again, a completely different team TALENT wise, not player wise.
Anyone can beat OSU? If you mean anyone in the SEC, then yes. LOL But when was the last time that Michigan beat OSU? Oh, that's right, 6 YEARS AGO, in 2003. Michigan is 1-7 against OSU since 2001. GTFO. You have no idea about sports or "your team".
michigan and florida have played eachother 2 times in history
michigan:2
florida:0
face the facts, quit tossing around shit like o$u's reign, it's over, and pspspspsps urban meyer=leaving for nd next year and you'll be back in the shitter wit no tebow and no meyer because thats the only reason your decent
I really don't care about past games. This video is about who should have played OSU and UF was the better team that year. Plain and simple. 07 was the only year Michigan could have beaten Florida since probably 05.
You're telling me to face facts but you say OSU's "reign" over UM is over? It's just begun.
Meyer won't leave until his 6 YEAR contract is over. You think that Florida is only good because of Tebow and Meyer? Go look at the Gators past success. Florida could beat UM without them.
The good fans of Michigan should really shut these idiots up and stop them from giving Michigan fans a bad name. I know a few good Michigan fans who were agreeing with me last night. LOL
How are the Gators the winningest team in college football since 1990, when they didn't have Tebow and Meyer until 2005??? How did UF win the NC in 1996 without Tebow and Meyer???? When was UF in the shitter........20+ years ago, idiotic comments mikerobinsonn. I guess Tebow plays defense also.....Gators defense were 5th in the country last year....you figure it out...
ha the gators have been crap for decades! these southern hicks don't know history. MIchigan the winnest football program in history. Michigan would have beat Florida that year! Buckeyes suck! MICH owns the SEC!
man that year wen ohio state played florida and michigan played usc and another big ten team i cant remember witch one had huge bowl game and if they would of all won big ten would had been the best cofference that years but nope they all lost. so now every one thinks the big ten sucks
cant expect michigan to kick ass after the first year with rich give rich rod sometime and things will change for the better look at rich rod first season with wvu almost the exact same now look what he did to that program so just shut the fuck up we beat tim tiebow and rex grossman cry some more assholes
Florida is scared to play Michigan. You beat us up pretty good. Hope we don't ever play them again. You are right, Tebow and Grossman were crying when Michigan beat them. All they have to console them now is a National Championship.
I'm not a Michigan fan, nor a UF fan, but I call it as I see it, and Michigan had a better recruiting class than Florida this year, and Utah only beat Michigan by 3 points, but we beat Bama by a larger margin than UF did, Michigan has always been good, even when they're bad they manage to beat the good teams.
You have the national championship, but weren't the best team this year, the BCS hardly ever gets it right, we should have gone, hence we shared it with you this year.
lol, I wouldn't count on Florida doing as good next year, even Meyer says UF is performing horribly at practice, the backup receivers not able to fill the shoes of ones that left, and he's being forced to use the I-Formation now, which when UF used it to a degree this year, they lost to Ole Miss.
I like Scout's and Rival's because they do things that ESPN doesn't, which is rate them by team need fulfillment.
Michigan filled a huge hole this year in their needs, UF just stocked up on mostly where they already had young talent, meaning they won't be using a lot of their recruits for awhile, take fullback, UF only focused on 1 good one, but he ended up going somewhere else, and that means not a very successful I-Formation which UF was planning on this year.
Florida's recruiting class is ranked 5th while Michigan's is ranked 10th(espn ranking) FYI. Florida was and is the best team, have some self respect and give the Gators some credit.
lol UF was not the best team this year, winning the BCS doesn't mean you're the best. They've only picked the right teams to play twice since they started, every other time it was either a blowout or just an average game. The National Championship should be a challenge.
There's a reason why nobody ever refers to ESPN when talking about recruiting unless their school is ranked high, ESPN takes whatever other sites have recruits ranked, (4, 5 stars etc.) and rates whoever has the most of what.
You don't go by ESPN's unless you're a total stranger to how things work in College football and ESPN recruiting.
UF recruited a lot of players you won't be seeing for 3-4 years, it works the same way in the NFL, it's like if the Colts drafted a QB or the Vikings drafted a RB.
UF got players they didn't need, that winds up being a bad recruiting class.
Michigan recruited players they needed, that winds up being a good one.
We all have opinions sucksbutyou. Sorry to inform you but the majority of the people in the US feel that the winner of the BCS game is the National Champion. YOu don't have to agree with it, but you have to live with it. As far as recruiting goes, I feel just fine with what UF is doing. If I were you I would be very embarassed and humbled by going 3-9. I mean 9 losses in 1 year is insane. YOu've got some balls buddy, talkin smack on a terrible team in a terrible conference.
Me = Utah fan, But Michigan is my favorite from the Big Ten. Nice try though. IF I were a Michigan fan I could say the same thing for UF who had a 0-9 season once.
I like the way we outplayed UF against Bama.
And the Fact the majority of people who think UF is the best team just sit by all year and watch the NC game, and that's all, not really looking at USC's Defense and that it was playing like an NFL team, which would completely destroy the spread, USC's linebackers = pro bowlers.
wow, talk about idiotic comments. My favorite is "we outplayed UF against Bama" well , since you never played UF you can't outplay them. Bama actually was playing for something when UF beat them, thats just dumb. BTW: Florida went 0-10-1 in 1979. Not sure what that record 29 years ago has to do with a 2008, 3-9 embarassment of Michigan, nice try though. I'm sorry I just don't think your opinion hold any water. NOw you are a USC guy, thats just crazy. Go Gators, Go Tebow!!!!
Dude, I know when a team is better than another, and USC was THE BEST team this year.
The thing is, UF doesn't even run the spread, they run the spread option, which would be even less successful against USC, because the Spread option has two weaknesses: Elite linebackers, and a slow working offense. USC has both.
Way to make yourself look worse, Michigan has never had a season with 9 losses, before this but UF has had a 10 loss one. Nice!!
You are funny sucksbut, with the loss thing. What does a 10 loss season 29/30 years ago have to do with a current 3-9 season. Were you born 30 years ago. You continually show your ignorance. You must be some kind of football nerd who never played the game and tries to be superior on youtube. Go to the gym, get a girlfriend, do something.
Michigan is a better team than Florida will ever be, teams like BYU, Utah and Boise are underrated which blows, but is true, the MWC has the highest bowl wining percentage the past 3 years.
Uh, LOL. you being, probably a shitty football coach doesn't matter, I played football for mount union, so now I'm a professional sports analyst! LMAO!!!!!
you douche half of the best sports analysts have never even played sports.
I'm a sports nerd? It's called sports center retard lmao! You're really bad.
You are completely classless. I think you are a punk. What kind of loser makes a statement like "Meyer sucks Tebow's dick". Thats just complete ignorance. If you are a sports analyst, then I'm the pope. Stop being such a loser. Nobody with any class would even call themselves, "Nobodysucksbutyou" its idiotic. Go back to Utah, that crap doesn't work in the real world.
I'm 22, sue me. And btw, saying "get a life" when you're on this site more than I am is pretty hypocritical.
Wow, you must have some serious bad genes.. or something, if you didn't realize I was being sarcastic about the me being a sports analyst thing, now would be the time for me to tell you wouldn't it?
Meyer is going to ruin your next season, using spread players in a pro style offense and a QB that has probably never taken snaps under center in his life will lead to horrible things.
I have a wonderful life so I can tell you to get one and mean it. I"m very well rounded. Job, wife, kids, church, coaching, golf, and I could go on. Sorry buddy your just plain wrong. I guess we'll see what those Gators do this year won't we. Time will tell. Go Gators.
wow touched a nerve did i ... 2 national championships in the lat 3 years ... well i'll tell you what when you finally beat us [UM] i'll take back what i said ... oh and when you guys finally win 11 NC's and you get more then 43 confrence titles then talk trash ... edee oht ...
h3brig, hate to tell you but Michigan has 2 National Titles, 1948, 1997. You can "claim" as many as you like but in the modern era, 1936-present, the NCAA recognizes Michigan with TWO, count em buddy.....2. It's amazing Michigan comes off a 3-9 season and you are still talking crap. It's Michigan fans like you that give the good ones a bad name.......just say congratulations GAtors and end it.
And now we look at this year... Unreal.

The bottom line is the AP and Coaches Poll screwed ASU that year, to make sure that Florida/FSU would have a rematch in the Sugar Bowl(SEC Country). Not as much money would be made if its FSU/ASU, which it should've been.

Get your rankings right dude. Don't give me the ranking after the bowl games, because that's where your confused.

Florida was the beneficiary of a rematch against FSU for the NC, then they vote against it when it's UM vs OSU.
browpatrick 6 months ago
@browpatrick Florida went to the Sugar Bowl in 1996 because of a bowl tie in as the SEC champion. There was no "voting" until 1998 when the BCS formed chief. We ended up playing FSU and walloped them.
Don't think just beacsue the OSU and Michigan game had so many points in it that they were simply the top two. They each got their nuts blown off in their bowl games.
MultiGogators 5 months ago
@MultiGogators No the AP & Coaches poll voted you guys No. 2 after losing to FSU in the regular season. SO all yall had to do was win the SEC Championship to get a rematch, which is one of the main reasons the BCS is here today. Florida should've dropped out of the Top 5 after that loss, but for whatever reason, the AP and Coaches poll didn't drop you guys as far as they should have.
browpatrick 5 months ago
@browpatrick We dropped to #4 not #2. Where do you get these made up numbers kid? I love the "all we had to do" was win the SEC title game, because that's easy. We lost by 3 points on the road and dropped 3 spots to #4 and then rose one spot to #3 after we beat Bama. ASU (#2) then lost to OSU (#4) in the Rose Bowl. We went to the Sugar Bowl and played FSU do to bowl tie ins and blew them out. It's not hard to understand, well for most.
MultiGogators 5 months ago
@MultiGogators It's much harder to win a rematch game when the team you beat can re-adjust and do all the things they didn't do in the first matchup. Thats why Bobby Bowden was so against the rematch and even questioned the motives behind the AP and Coaches Poll for ranking you guys No. 2 after the loss.
browpatrick 5 months ago
@browpatrick WE WENT TO #4 YOU RETARD! Where do see #2 ?!?!?!?!? By the way, we played Bama in a rematch after getting beat at home and lost the rematch in 1999. We beat Auburn in the regular season and then beat them in the 2000 SEC title game. We tied FSU and then lost to them in the 1994 Sugar Bowl. You're not making any sense. This "re-adjustment" you speak of seems to be overrated. We had no issues beating Auburn twice, Bama no issues beating us twice, and FSU tied and beat us.
MultiGogators 5 months ago
@MultiGogators No yall went to No. 2. Your number are wrong. ASU was No.3 before yall lost to FSU and stayed No. 3 after yall lost to FSU. Ohio St. wasn't No. 4 because they lost the last game of the season to Michigan, but still won the Big 10, which is the reason for their trip to the Rose Bowl.
browpatrick 5 months ago
@browpatrick ASU was #2 going into the Rose Bowl, we were #3 going into Sugar. Just go to the 1996 bowl game AP rankings. OSU was # 4.
MultiGogators 5 months ago
It is harder to beat a team in a rematch. So what Florida has had good results with their rematches, the fact is, if you ask any coach, they'll tell you it's much harder to beat a team in a rematch than it is to beat them the first time.
browpatrick 5 months ago
@browpatrick We won both in 2000, lost both in 1999 and tied and lost in 1993. The results lean towards the readjustment as BS.
MultiGogators 5 months ago

MelancholicTides 7 months ago
I hate OSU but the one thing gets me is these sec fans think they have the biggest rivalry. Should had been a rematch.
grillz122 7 months ago
Should have been Michigan. Michigan would have made it closer of a game. Its cause you fucktards didn't want a rematch of the best rivalry in the USA.
x20michigan 8 months ago
@x20michigan Wait a minute. Are you telling me it would have been close because OSU would have scored more points than it did against Florida? Dude... lmao! Win your conference next time ass clown.
MultiGogators 5 months ago
I know the argument that is made by Michigan fans for that year is that Michigan's only loss came against #1 Ohio State and the game also took place in Columbus.
If you look at the other side Florida's only loss came against Auburn (#10) in Auburn.
At the end of the day for that particular year it is had to argue that Michigan deserved to be in the game because of how the bowl's ended up. Michigan loosing in the Rose Bowl, and Florida beating Ohio State in the National Championship game
YB71KV 10 months ago
@YB71KV
That means nothing. One game does not automatically characterize a team. By the way, it's "losing", not "loosing". If any thing, UM vs UF probably would have been much, much better than watching UF stomp OSU into the ground.
ausablesteelhead 7 months ago
@ausablesteelhead Well we are only left to speculate how the game vs Michigan and Florida would have gone for that particulay year since they did not play. I was simply making the point that for that year when you look at who deserved to play Ohio State that Florida had more wins against top twenty five teams and they won a BCS conference. When it comes down to it the team with the more difficult schedule and more big time wins gets the thumbs up. For the year in question that team was Florida.
YB71KV 7 months ago
Comment removed
YB71KV 10 months ago
All right lets just look at that year alone when it comes to why the BCS voted for Florida over Michigan to get into the BCS Championship Game.
Michigan had only two victories over top 25 opponents that year. Notre Dame (Home) and Iowa (Away).
Florida had four victories over top 25 opponents that year. Tenneessee (Away), LSU (Home), Georgia (Neutral), and Arkansas (Conference Championship).
At the end of the day Florida had the harder schedule and that is why they were chosen.

@westonsz maybe but look at how OSU always plays against the SEC if Michigan wouldve played florida in that game they wouldve killed florida. and they wouldve probably won against OSU. i can see why they lost against USC that year they were pissed cuz they got shafted out of a Nat'l title game. im a die hard wolverine and always will be. that was bullshit that was our year
blitzboy30 1 year ago
@blitzboy30 The Florida defense Michigan faced in 08 was nothing close to the defense Florida had in 07. There were a few freshmen starters in the secondary that allowed Chad Henne to burn them big time. Troy Smith was the perfect answer for the Michigan defense along with the way JT spread the field against the speed. Had Lloyd got creative the way JT did against us and as he did against Florida Michigan may have won. In the end the conservative play calling just killed us.
westonsz 1 year ago

GO BLUE!

RockSmithStudio 2 years ago
The best team rarely wins the NC. Texas almost won this year with a back up QB. How the hell can you leave out an undeafeated team and a team who only lost to the lone undeafeated team. I think it just shows how bad the BCS is. I am one of the biggest haters of the BCS there is.
InRichRodWeTrust 2 years ago
I agree that the BCS is not the best system to determine a national champion. I'm just saying that Florida proved their worth in the national championship. Hopefully a playoff will take place in college football

That means exactly what NOW and/or THEN in 06. Florida was better than OSU and Michigan in 06... and that was a young, inexperienced team in 07. 08 and 09 is a different story. Completely different team, TALENT, not player wise.
thechaser1985 2 years ago

Wayneequalsgod00 2 years ago 3
Didnt Michigan and OSU get owned in their bowl games this year? OSU VS FL 41-10 and Michigan vs USC 32-18? So the two teams that got spanked should have played for the NC? I think it should have been USC vs FL. I also have no bias towards any of these teams. Proof is on the field.
BWoody84 2 years ago
Yeah, but the point of this video is that everyone at that time thought Michigan was better. It's another example of the BCS getting lucky rather than getting it right. The goal of the BCS is to get the two best teams in the national title game. 80% of college football analysts thought UM would beat UF on neutral field. That's not getting it right.
cmrossier 2 years ago
FLA and USC were the best teams on the field that year, as they were last year too!!! IT IS JUST A MATTER of time before they both meet, they could have that year if USC did not lose those b.s. games and last year too if USC did not lose that game, they are just meant to BE IT SEEMS! BRING IT ON ALREADY.

Tedd Ginn was hurt. Michigan didnt show up against USC because of mising out on the title game. Florida barely beat Florida State that year. Do u really think Florida was 41 points better than every team in the country , yeah right Michigan beat them last year without their defense. cmon now.
citysquad 2 years ago
Here we go with the Tedd Ginn was hurt thing again, like he would stop the penetration on the line of scrimmage from FLA;s D and give his QB time, thats what won the GAME THERE the line play. FLA barely beat FLA state? Once again that FLA D with Reggie Nelson etc. was alot better on D (Pass D) than the one Mich beat, it had a bunch of rooks back there in the secendary, they were not near as strong that year. THey did barely beat FL state, they played alot of close games that year, their O was

Btw I'm a Utah fan ^^
Nobodysucksbutyou 2 years ago
We all have our opinions. Florida returns all 11 starters on defense(5th ranked), Loses only a couple on offense. We'll be preseason #1 bank on it.
knightguy11 2 years ago
lol, I wouldn't count on Florida doing as good next year, even Meyer says UF is performing horribly at practice, the backup receivers not able to fill the shoes of ones that left, and he's being forced to use the I-Formation now, which when UF used it to a degree this year, they lost to Ole Miss.
Just an Example.
Nobodysucksbutyou 2 years ago
You may be right. We will see. Thats why they play the game.
knightguy11 2 years ago
According the the ESPN recruiting ranking: Florida was 5th, Michigan 10th, just sayin.
knightguy11 2 years ago
I like Scout's and Rival's because they do things that ESPN doesn't, which is rate them by team need fulfillment.
Michigan filled a huge hole this year in their needs, UF just stocked up on mostly where they already had young talent, meaning they won't be using a lot of their recruits for awhile, take fullback, UF only focused on 1 good one, but he ended up going somewhere else, and that means not a very successful I-Formation which UF was planning on this year.
Anyways good luck next year.
Nobodysucksbutyou 2 years ago
Florida's recruiting class is ranked 5th while Michigan's is ranked 10th(espn ranking) FYI. Florida was and is the best team, have some self respect and give the Gators some credit.
knightguy11 2 years ago
lol UF was not the best team this year, winning the BCS doesn't mean you're the best.
Nobodysucksbutyou 2 years ago
You don't go by ESPN's unless you're a total stranger to how things work in College football and ESPN recruiting.
UF recruited a lot of players you won't be seeing for 3-4 years, it works the same way in the NFL, it's like if the Colts drafted a QB or the Vikings drafted a RB.
UF got players they didn't need, that winds up being a bad recruiting class.
Michigan recruited players they needed, that winds up being a good one.
Nobodysucksbutyou 2 years ago
We all have opinions sucksbutyou. Sorry to inform you but the majority of the people in the US feel that the winner of the BCS game is the National Champion. YOu don't have to agree with it, but you have to live with it. As far as recruiting goes, I feel just fine with what UF is doing. If I were you I would be very embarassed and humbled by going 3-9. I mean 9 losses in 1 year is insane. YOu've got some balls buddy, talkin smack on a terrible team in a terrible conference.
knightguy11 2 years ago

Nice!!
Lol@the future NFL fullback reference.

Oh and Btw, I have a wonderful life, a great wife, already have a kid, and I run a 10.9 100m Dash.
Get a clue about the person you're talking to the next time you try to "insult" them.

Meyer is going to ruin your next season, using spread players in a pro style offense and a QB that has probably never taken snaps under center in his life will lead to horrible things.

h3brig, hate to tell you but Michigan has 2 National Titles, 1948, 1997.
