I really dont understand the popularity of Rodarte, to me their collections always look like high-school art projects more than high fashion. The fake tattoos look awful too.
In Rodarte's case it is a really good question. How do they make money? The clothes are amazingly beautiful and directional but the chances of running into these garments on the streets are slim to none.
The issue is that Rodarte don't make fragrances, sunglasses or handbags, the usual cash cows which keep giants such as Dior on their feet. Personally I just hope that they don't succumb to some idiotic commercial crap and just continue to emphasize their amazing line of RTW. Just, how?
alot of celebs wear rodarte; natalie portman, emma watson, rihanna, kirsten dunst, keira knightley...their stuff is also used in endless amounts of editorials
Yes but I suppose most of those celebs just get to borrow those dresses for red-carpet events. Or are they actually bought? Now please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't most editorial pieces only borrowed for photos as well?
yeah but the celebs are photographed which generates free publicity which = money and no the stylists for photoshoots do a pull and buy what they want for the shoots & return what they don't want. Frankly i think everyone should dress is rodarte, rick owens, gareth pugh, the world would be so fucking amazing.
nyc, paris, london, school, parties, fashion shows, wear whatever u want, when u want...theres no rule that says you cant wear that red rodarte shredded dress to dinner.... fuck that
I agree with you too. But I also think that beauty is subjective. I think that for some people it would have been nice for this collection to have some obvious beauty in it, but for others there is no challenge in that. I think it's easy to appreciate something aesthetically pleasing; yet personally I want to embrace the grotesque. I want to find the beauty in something that may be horrifying because it's there. You just have to look deeper, and when you find it you have a new understanding.
the primitive nature that is still in every human being but is constantly suppressed due to what is deemed right and wrong. It's a beautiful collection because it's truth.
People where are your imaginations?! Fashion isn't about pretty dresses. I like the Rodarte vision. It's a certain exploration. They aren't looking to make women chic, they're exploring the nature of human beings through clothing. Think about it. If you lived in a post apocalyptic world you would have to scrounge for clothing and the norms of society no longer applied. You would look like this! You would have protective elements like spikes and tattoos to ward people off. This is about exploring
so! just cuz they are sis doesnt mean they can do that. how do you feel if your sister cut you while you were still talking or your daughter is doing that to you? it 's called being rude!
I love the fact that all the designers are taking their RTW to the edge of couture during this time in the economy. It really makes a difference, and you see people falling in love with fashion all over again
Love Rodarte! I love how the woman in this collection. She's of the post apocalypse, a primitive woman who is able to stand on her own. Just beautiful.
Two ugly American girls imitating Galliano and Alexander McQueen techniques .... PFFFT!

Not one of my favs but we might have to be at the show to appreciate its aesthetic, sometimes it's too hard to judge by youtubing :)

Totally agree with you pattNY, I am like mehhhh but again, watching it on a 17" screen may not do justice to their Artcraft!

Obnoxious designers, obv actors who want to be seen as 'cool' will love it. Overrated.
Fabouluz0999 2 years ago
I know, the designers looked like posers.
I don't see the hype in all this, all the clothing looked as if they came off the wardrobe from a T.V. program.

one of the designer was so rude...the other one was talking and she just butt in...
