  • the queen is dead the smiths morissey my teen age in patras greece shy is it nice dj pipis

  • mesmerizing

  • When I listen to this, my mind goes places... really awesome places.

  • omg! i love this song, i like this one, more than the original... :D

  • Isn't this from his DJ kicks mix CD. Is the song by Royksopp? What song is it?

  • @billiesrus - this is a Erlend himself covering the Smiths song "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out," which he has layered over the Silicon Soul remix of Royksopp's "Poor Leno." (Which he also did the vocals for originally, as it happens, although the Silicon Soul remix removed almost all the singing.) It is indeed from his DJ Kicks album.

  • There's nothing like the original by The Smiths, but it is not too bad :)

  • ._. -_____-

    WTF?

  • PERFECTION

  • Nice version !! 'There is a light' is according to me one of the best songs ever... and I admit I have also committed the 'sin' to cover it just now :)... but we (erroV and reef) did it with all the respect and love we feel towards the original masterpiece.... but yes... its a dance version.. (with video)

  • legend song

  • (not 2 copy but be inspired) Windows down and engine loose Green smoke floating out my nose On the way home from my party Sly girl in the passenger seat I know she wants me to love her And I want to love her And its so easy The air is warm but the wind is cool And we are young And she wants to make love No consequences, no consequences All smiles, for miles, and miles
  • ehm. wow!

  • dobrej song

  • @michaelctanner So strange,I had this idea when I first listened to this treasure.I have to drive from Weiden in Bayern all the way to landstuhl and I plan on doing just that....live deep.

  • This is an excerpts from Erlend Oye's awesome "DJ-Kicks" session. The music is straight away Royksopp - Poor Leno (Silicone Soul's Hypno House Dub), with Erlend singing on top.

He does this a number of times in the record: sings classics over a number of remixed tracks. At the end of this video you can hear the next track start where he sings "Always on my mind" (Metal Chix / Always on My Mind (A Capella) (Brenda Lee cover) - Skatebård)

    Just awesome.

  • ALE WIXA!!!!!!!!!!11111111111

  • @zorpnic Exactly.

  • this is from the kicks right? is it his mash up? I would love to have a clean mp3 of this one :)

  • I am sure Eric pryds did this song.

  • @21stcenturyromantic your retarded. the orignal is Royksopps and the lyrics are from The Smiths

  • take me out.....tonigh

  • the Original is not half as good :)

  • He makes it sound so easy a cave man can do it.

  • but you dont have the same talent!! :)

  • I don't have 10000th the talent this guy has.

  • @chodaboy51500 Who? Erlend Oye, or Morrissey?

  • @jaymsatoms1 Erlend Oye.

    Morrissey sucks my balls.

  • i got that joke! haha

  • estabamas mejor con las .... pastillas

  • the music belongs from Madame Hollywood - Felix da Housecat and miss kittin

  • that's exactly what i thought...

  • Not really, it's Poor Leno (Silicone Soul's Hypno House Dub) / There Is a Light That Never Goes Out (A Capella) (The Smiths cover) - Röyksopp

From the Dj kicks! he done.

  • Erlend is a fuckin genious !!!

  • where can i get this track???

  • It's from de cd: Dj Kicks mixed by Erlend Oye. Now look in google, you may find it easy uploaded in megaupload ;]

BTW, its a superb compilation, really really cool one.

  • oh ouiiiiiii ^^

  • Poor Leno mix over this is pretty dirt tits.

  • I disagree, I prefer this remix than the Schneider TM

  • This is ok... but Schneider TM version "The Light 3000" blows this sideways

  • Wow :) and that's so very different from the original version by The Smiths!

  • oh my god. It's so fucking good !

  • Cool. Where was this shot? What city?

  • Great =,]

  • i love it!!!!

  • el cover perfecto

  • Sounds like poor leno to me

  • erlend did the vocals for that.

  • it is "poor leno", but erlend sing on the song... :P

  • Erlend actually sings Poor Leno for Röyksopp:)

  • Wow. Just ... wow.

  • I do love the original from the Smiths, however i think this is a great cover!!:)original!:)

  • not so much a cover, just lyrics thrown into arandom song which happens to be great

  • D'you call poor leno random?

  • that still falls under 'cover'.

  • Silicone Soul need to get some props for the remix, it's one of their best IMO

  • this version is much better.

    end of discussion.

  • As I said this version is better because the music and the voice and also the melody fits better to the lyrics, than the Smiths version which is in my opinion not so "dark&deep" as this one okay?

I have an impression that the part when it says 'If a ten tone truck kills the both of us and so on...' the Smiths sing somehow cheerfully and it just don't match to me...it's supposed to be sad and Erlend made it to sound sad..

I just like this version better and thats all..

  • I always thought that the lyric "if a ten ton truck kills the both of us" was a sort of positive thing, since he's saying that he would die happy being by the person's side. I love this version though, with the constant background beats. It's the best cover of a Smiths song I've ever heard.

  • now this is a good remake but... how can you say this is better then the smiths version???

    what are you smoking

  • BEAUTIFUL !! finally :D

  • Finally, someone uploaded this!

  • I don't like the original that much...this version is more hmm let's say darker and somehow deeper and fits better to the lyrics then the "happy-singing" Smiths version...

  • i'm so agree with u

  • Really? Happy sing-y Morrissey? That's a new one.

  • what is the address?

  • link ?

  • ??? happy singing?

    You must be crazy!!

No version is better than the original from the smiths !

  • its not really a cover to be honest. And besides, thats what you think

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • ekanel I think that there is no last song that it is part of the song

  • Let's dance the night away...uh huh

  • beautiful...

  • great song:)

  • ..to die by your side,is such a heavenly way to die... :)

I think there's no more to say, this is still the most beautiful song I've ever heard

  • You know though that this song is a "cover" although it's completely different from the original which the Morrissey sang. (The Smiths)

  • amazing

  • Mr Dynamite in action :-)

  • ye lol

  • what's the name of the song at the end?

  • allways on my mind, you can find it in the dj kicks from erlend oye

  • ....such a heaven way to die... Love it!

  • never gets old, great thrill everytime I hear it, such depth

  • Morrissey electrooo

  • silicone souls remix of poor leno by royksopp (for which erland did the vocals) plus an accapella of erland singing theres a light = this. justified and good remix of all songs mentioned if you ask me!

  • i agree that song is awsome

  • erlend oye makes a much better version than morrisey ,this song is the best

  • haha, dont make me laugh!

  • +1 agree also

  • awesome video for an awesome song! really catches the atmosphere of the song!

    "there's a light......"

    thanks for sharing

  • love this song

  • Hey!

Does somebody know in from which album is this song?

    Thanks

  • Dj Kicks : Erlend Oye

  • The Queen Is Dead.

    J/K ;)

  • The beat and the background-melody actually comes from a remix of Röyksopp - Poor Leno. Just notice the whispering of the Poor Leno-verses at 3:00!

  • realy nice!! I love him!

  • I like Erland Oye but I dont about this the smiths are pretty sacred to me :-(

  • Ok, The Smiths are sacred and this song in particular, but dont you think this makes justice to a milestone?

  • nope.

  • On reflection, there's plenty of room for both versions. Let us eagerly await his take on 'Necromantical Screams' by Celtic Frost, complete with the full Travolta treatment ;-) . . . .

  • A peerless song and a typically Erlend rendition, which can never be a bad thing. I would, however, suggest that Schneider TM's version 'The Light 3000' captures more of the pathos of the original. A thing of beauty nonetheless . . . .

  • I love this song from the Smiths and Morrisey, but Erlend is the best

Wish he came to Turkey again

  • Thanks for posting. Lost this CD and been hankering for it.

  • nobody asked you

  • M U S I C

  • I like the smiths & i like Erland Oye, no wonder i fucking love this tune so much!

  • when can i hear it live in berlin??!

  • Erlend Oye's DJ Kicks is bloody good. I can't stop playing it..still.

  • it's available on DJ Kicks-Erlend Oye - a must-have disk with a.o. Phoenix, JJ Johanson, The Rapture...

  • how can i come to own this music?? is this mix on any cd? and if so on which one?????? i'm desperately in love with erlend oye!!!

  • it's available on DJ Kicks-Erlend Oye - a must-have disk with a.o. Phoenix, JJ Johanson, The Rapture...

  • Yeah the smiths are freaking unbelievable and having Erlend Oye cover a tune by them, wow. Doesn't get much better here boys!

  • one of the best songs ever... what an ill mix

  • Great version!!!!!!!!!!

  • better than neil finn and almost as good as morrisey .

  • I just realised that this is a smiths cover,

  • i believe that if you hear something and it sounds good and moves you then it is a tune you should listen to again, and if it doesn't then don't. My music willy is bigger than your music willy id silly. Silly music willys

  • this is my favorite smiths song everrr! i love this cover :)

    Saludos!

  • Where did you get this audio track? I've been going nuts trying to find it; it's so good!

  • You can find it on the DJ Kicks - Erlend Oye CD.

  • cool

  • a heavenly way to die!

  • Orale este wey!!! cantando rolas del morrissey , no cabe duda que son rolas, de ley para cualquier banda.

    Vientos Erlend Oye!!!

  • Rabbit in the Moon has a great cover of this song...

  • Maybe, but for me this song become beautiful after this cover. I think it's better than The Smiths. The original maybe has great lyric, but also mediocre music. In this version music is great, you can feel a kind of anxiety when you listen to it. Yeah, for me it's really moving. And i can't say the same thing about original.

  • Everybody has his own tastes, my friend. But come on, how can you say taht the smiths' one has mediiocre music and this version has great music? This one has no music at all, IMHO. I'd rather call it noise. And by the way, I think that in 99% cases, the original is better than any cover.

  • it's discordant for me. music is joyful and unconcerned, but lyric is sad. It's one reason why i used a word "mediocre" to describe the music of this song - i rather like sad music. I used "mediocre" also because it's really nothing special about it, there are tons of tunes like that, i heard a thousands of similar bands on myspace or lastfm. But, to be honest, i haven't heard even a one artist who would sing and play similar to Erlend Oye.

  • of course i meant the smiths original.

  • Thousands of bands that sound like that on myspace??? This doens't make no sense at all. This song is from 1985, that bands you're referring to were born 20 years later. The original one is performed with real instruments, this one is electronic crap!

  • what do you mean when you say "real instruments"? Synthesizer or computer is not real because it's electronic? I tell you one thing, i'm musician, i have a few synths in my house. When you say that they aren't real instruments, you also suggest they doesn't exist in reality, and (maybe) it's all just my illusion. I don't understand this kind of thinking, something is electronic, so it's not real?

  • Aha, and don't forget that every single album is mastered and mixed JUST on computer, which is an electronic device!

And about the smiths - if original was recorded 20 years ago, i can only say that the kind of music they play is not timeless, on the contrary, to for example Chopin. Their music is just out-of-date and crappy for me. Salut!

  • Being a guitarist, I can proudly say I'm a musician, too. I didn't mean that what's electronic ain't real. But music is noy about mastering and mixing o computers: before that someone must have a played a guitar, a bass guitar, some drums, some keys... Then it get mixed up... You can say that The Smiths (which I am not a fan of at all, I only know a few of their songs) are out of fashion, not out of date.
