Actually no. I meant trunks on the outside, a la superman. That's the part I found wierd too. But I noticed it during a match when they were doing a close-up of a rest hold. The stripes on the side of his legs didn't match up and it looked like it was trunks outside the leggings and singlet. I couldn't figure why that would be necessary?

BTW, Kane in 1998 still beat's Zach Ryder's half/half trunks anyday!
