I admit I had never listened to the Hindi tune until you mentioned it (from RD Burman for the movie Caravan). Checking the chronology, Caravan was released first, which isn't surprising, though I am a bit biased to this Balu's version for the rendition :)

I was watching sa re ga ma pa challenge 2009 recently and did notice some Telugu music compositions and started tracking some hindi songs, and not surprisingly i found some tom and jerry music in one song(yeh hai bombay meri jaan). this one though seems to be RD burman's original or is it?
