  • Windows holds major portion of the computer "USER" market.

The internet is build and runs primarily on UNIX/ Linux. Now more so than ever your seeing PRODUCTION deployments of Ubuntu systems. In fact most appliances, storage units, switches, load balancers that go hand in hand with internet services run tailored versions of linux OS. Windows is not this flexible. Now a new occurrence in the office scene, is deploying the UNIX kernel based MAC OSX. Looks like windows is dying bro.

  • Well the Eagles Nest in Wysox , Pa reformatted my hard drive and installed

UBUNTU. IT was cheap. It works great.. No more bill gates..

You can try UBUNTU for free on your MS system if you have some free space.

  • @Springingboy

I shifted my voice to a lower frequency. The lights were from a back

    messager.

  • How many viruses are on a mac ?

  • To my knowledge, there is only 1 virus. And it's not even a real virus. It's an art virus that makes your desktop liquid like. But the only way to contract it is by actual physical contact. To learn more google "the Newton Virus". Also Macs are heavily guarded since they have more programmers than users and they tell the programmers to find glithes that may be vulnerable to viruses and then they send out an update. =]

  • 4 official viruses, but said to be as many as 63

  • tHanks for the info, but you have to admit, that there are more viruses for Microsoft.

  • of course, i have xp

  • Of course there are like 2 tons (yeah, tons!) of viruses for microsoft but that doesn't mean that mac never get viruses: they cercainly do, not just the newton virus wich is more of a joke hehe, nowadays I've seen an increase on people that use macs and many have told me they do get/have gotten viruses. Although it's not in the same proportions as windows does, it doesnt mean that mac viruses dont exist.

  • Yeah, I wrote this before I did my research. Macs do get a lot of viruses because, as you stated, as more people get macs, more hackers choose to hack Mac OS X since they see it as an opportunity since most Mac users don't have anti-virus software because they think that they can't viruses.

No software, maybe Ubuntu Linux, is safe from hackers and evil programmers.

  • Hmmm... Ubuntu Linux may be free from viruses for now, I mean, I dont think there will be a monumental increase of users for Ubuntu due to usability and the fact that Windows already holds a big portion of the computer market.

Having a free open source OS is good in terms that anyone can see vulnerabilities, perhaps fix them and spread the fix but is bad in the same way that anyone can see a vulnerability and take advantage of it (aka: make a virus or w/e) as the amount of Linux users grow.

  • I only know one, the Leap-A virus.

  • yeah I agree. Linux has only about 8 known viruses. This is mainly because of its un-user-friendlyness. But PCLinux may fuck it up. Ubuntu and Suse all the way!

  • 80 known viruses...sorry.

  • linux have only 50 viruses for it as i have heard but i LOVE it never i seen my computer so smoothly before linux is like THE BEST and its free

  • Dude. WTF!?

  • Yes I agree. Linux is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than VVind0w$.
