sorry for a late response. I found that it depends on the game. WMV looks cleaner but MP4 has a stronger color and contrast to it. of course this is assuming you are rendering with arcsoft
Actually 6mbps is needed for good 30 fps playback of HD, the PVR does 60 so you need 12mbps to cover the extra frames to hit good quality. anything more than 12 has little effect
this video is a year old and I use a new channel now, but believe me I learned video formats. I keep the full 59.94 fps and 12 mbps for editing so I have frames to stretch for a slow motion, but I always render 23.976 or 29.97 at 4.8 or 6 mbps for youtube
.
less frames = more data per frame in youtube compression.
@GamingWorks 13.5mbps is what the famous people use, guess why they're famous aye? and they render in 60fps, cuz even if youtuebe cant handle 60fps that good, its always better then 30fps.
@BenjamOnToastGood It records by default at 59.94 fps, which is the game's frame rate. The 30fps he is talking about is what he has rendered it at in Sony Vegas or whatever other editing program he used :)
I didnt have vegas back than. almsot a year ago wow. the PVR does 59.940 on everything except for 1080i. like halo for example is 30/29.97 but the PVR does 59.940 with duplicate frames.
MP4 renders faster and edits more clean. it's just that WMV has more filters on it, so you can slam a bunch of Contrast, Color, and whatever to enhance the quality where an MP4 shows up fuzzy from that
I quality tested like crazy
but this video is straight out of Arcsoft, no enhancements on it
@SgtBoomNasty
sorry for the confusion, this was the Arc Soft's WMV render, still recorded as an M2TS initially

I can either do AVC/AAC format (.mp4) in 59.94 fps, or I can render in wmv format (wm 11) and have the Internet/LAN on 6 M and fps set as 29.970.
What should I do?
Or should I use wmv and use 29.970 fps and change 6 M to 8 M?
Please help

@Dlimits yeah but..
if you upload a 60fps video to youtube
it wont look the best because youtube don't process the 60fps good
it is recommended to use 30fps WMV. with a 8 bit rate. or if you are going to make gameplay videos, lower it to 6 so the file size is not that big..
also it depends what computer you have.
what are your specs?

I was wondering, can you record with a higher fps than 30? Say, 59.94fps?
Thanks!

in 480p and 720p mode the PVR always does 59.940 fps, and in 1080i it does 29.97 fps. regardless of what the actual output is

how do you get your pvr to record straight into WMV??
gazgotskillz 2 years ago
it records in M2TS primary. it can record as a TS. as for MP4 it records only one corner of the screen.
The software that comes with the HD PVR can than render the M2TS video file into an MP4, MOV,WMV.
Those will be your options if you cant play M2TS videos in whatever editor you use, you need either Vegas 9 or Pinnacle Studio 12 to play an M2TS
Dlimits 2 years ago
i got a patch or summat so it records into mp4 for xbox, its just a hassle to convert it to WMV, especially as there is no way to trim mp4 files down

What program do you use for editing?
CseRoQ 2 years ago
Back then on this video, it was either Pinnacle or WindowsMovie. this was rendered in the ArcSoft and that comes with the PVR. Now i have Vegas
I did'nt notice any differnce in quality, this video was generating views better so i kept it and deleted the MP4 version of this

Search HD PVR. It's the only HD Recorder. now i dont have to play in SD to record. other HD videos for games are usually upscaled but not real HD
great that people dont need to click HD to see it super clear.
