  • Wonderful performance.

  • great version

  • one of the most beautiful and classiest women in american music. another stick-out performance for this great artist.

  • So nice to have a different visual image when enjoying this song.

  • Don't know if everybody realises, but Marylin was over 60 years ol in this clip, is she absolutely gorgeous or what?

  • @celticdollface Hi there. Sorry but this is incorrect. I have this concert...it was from around 1990/91....so that would put Ms. Marilyn in her late 40s in this clip.

  • marilyn sang "saving all my love for you" years before Whitney did, interesting to note.....marilyns version sounded more like doris day.

  • is it just me or does she resemble Whitney Houston in looks?

  • Wonderful, as usual for Marilyn McCoo; a beautiful, graceful, emotive performance. It was mostly faithful to the version from the stage show, and the changes were appropriate and not jarring.

Also, I notice that she did not audibly tank up on a big breath before that long climb on the word "shaaaaaaaaaaaame," unlike most singers. There are a few tricks to make a breath last all the way through a long phrase, and sound supported, but she sounded natural, strong and impressive. Great performance.

  • @GuinnevereB Well said! And, how impressive is the immaculate delivery of the text! Every word is crystal clear at no sacrifice to the melody. No easy task! She is wonderful.

  • marilyn does a great job on "warrior for the lord" and I notice it hasn't had but only a few hundreds views....so check it out as well everyone!

  • well done also very pleasant on the eyes

  • She did a good job on the song. Not great but good. One problem I have is not with her voice but with her outfit. Singing the song from Les Mis of a woman out in the world before turning to prostitution and death, done in sequins and stiletto's? NO! Takes so much away, Also, percussion was much to loud. Had it been played simply, it could have been so much more effectively. She has voice for it, but too fact and too loud a percussion and outift to die for, literally. Too bad.

  • Great, one of the best performances i have heard.

  • Bill Davis, you struck it rich with Marilyn..:)

  • Always a class act! Beautiful voice, beautiful face, simply BEAUTIFUL!!

I will love you always, Marilyn!

  • as a long time PBS fan, i can't believe i am just now seeing this performance. thank you for sharing - very much appreciated - from one M.McC fan to another.

  • ruthie henshall does this better

  • @kcphonics Maybe, but Marilyn can sing anything wonderfully. Ruthie could never!

  • Everything Marilyn sings is done with exceptional beauty, grace and quality. She is a true professional and amazing talent! Imagine if she had of walked out on BGT and delivered this.

  • Marilyn is definitely one beautiful & talented woman but no disrespect to her at all, frumpy Susan Boyle outsung her on this song when Boyle sung this on "Britains got talent." Of course Susan no competittion for Marilyin in the looks dept.

  • I love this video so much. I only hope that Marylin McCoo is aware of how much people enjoy that amazing performance. A perfect combination of schlock, glitz, showbiz, power, beauty and pure talent.

  • how come i havent heard of this lady b4??!!

  • she' pretty well retired. She sang with the 5th Dimention in the 60's and on Solid Gold in the 80's. She can sing anything better than anyone in my opinion! On Solid Gold she sang all the hits of the day and ussually better than the original artist.

  • A true treasure!

  • Way to low a register to give this song any impact. But, it's Marilyn McCoo and she can do no wrong. Brava!

  • This puts Susan Boyle to shame - just my opinion. SUSAN WHO?!?! (Sammy Davis' version of this on the 1989 MDA Telethon is the only one that is on par / surpasses this.)

  • Horrid orchestration but what a great VOICE!

  • A great version by the very talented and beautiful Marilyn.

  • God, that piano made it sound like a number from Cabaret. I was expecting the kit kat girls to come out screaming any moment. Awful.

  • Interesting, the first time I heard this song was when Marilyn hosted Solid Gold. That version was better because she didn't rush it like she seemed to do this version. Anyway I have always been a big fan.

  • Sorry i disagree i think this version is pish

  • OO this is amazing both Marilyn's And Susan Boyle's version too

  • Peerless. Flawless. She is theatrical perfection.

  • Marilyn has such a beautiful voice!

  • Really Wonderful! And, her attention to the lyrics is exemplary. Great voice, great singer.

  • Marilyn is one class act whata pure voice

  • She's a great singer, and her beautiful face tells the story with such sensitivity; what a talent!

  • Love Marilyn, always a spot on performer, always a classic beauty. What more can you say?

  • randy graff

  • ruthie henshall FTW

  • susan boyle

  • Incredible! This is even better than PattyLapone. So much more soulful and real.

  • yea marilyn...since the 12th deminsion has been the best

  • What a singer. What a woman. Been in love with her since I was twelve.

  • Oh I just love Marilyn!

  • A gorgeous performance by a class act!

It's as powerful as it is when it's performed in Les Miz.

    Thanks for posting.

  • An awesome talent , and a truly great performer. Check out her Christmas album -- Marilyn McCoo could sing the phone book, and it would sound great.

  • Marilyn is an elegant singer with immense control and a wide range. She was better than so many of her contemporaries and deserevd much greater success as a solo artist.

  • WOW! She blew me away! Fantastic!

  • Easily one of the best pop singers ever. Her voice is so crystal clear, just like it was with the Fifth Dimension !!!

  • Amazing performance by the always incredible Marilyn McCoo; a truly gifted vocalist.

  • Beautifully done! Great voice, great control. She sang with such emotions. The only thing is the crappy music. Some parts sounded like a toy piano. What's up with that?!

  • Beautiful performance.

  • I remember marilyn singing back in the 70s, and by god she sounds as good today as she did back then. This is an awesome version of this song. She puts feeling into every line.

  • A SECRET so sneaky for Susan Boyle uses to make us cry. Just watch 140 Tubarc - Susan Boyle Secret Code for Weeping. Give me a feedback if you were smart enough to get it . . ..

  • Susan Broyle does a great job singing this song .. The difference with Marilyn is that she not only sings it she makes U FEEL it .. Thats what makes a GREAT performer & artist ..

  • Yes!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!!

  • I don't understand why there's a big fuzz with Susan Boyle. I mean yes she's good but why there's this person asking to copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here. Is this person trying to make Susan Boyle a God or somekind of Idol to worship or create a cult of some sorts out of Susan Boyle?

  • No, it's just funny. I never heard the song before Susan Boyle sang it, that's all. Now all us folks who had never heard the song before Susan Boyle did such a good singing it have to go and check it out so that we can find out why she did such a great job.

  • I can answer that. Susan Boyle introduced "I dreamed a dream" to the world like never before. Sure this song is from the late 80's but what Susan did in 1 night brought more people to the song than the last 20 years of it being on broadway.

  • Wow. I would never have pegged this for a Marilyn McCoo song, but this is one of the best renditions of it that I've heard so far. I am impressed.

And yes, of course all roads lead back to Susan Boyle. ;-)

  • She does a great job of it. I had never seen her sing such a theatrical number before.

  • That was a tough song to recover from... You could see she gave it everything.

  • Thanks for posting this. I always thought she was a great. This song really highlights her voice. Just enough vibrato, emotion, and depth. Love it, Marilyn! Thank you :)

  • One of the best version of this song. Really great!

  • This was beautiful. :) I came here to this video due to what I watched as Susan Boyle on Britain's Got Talent excerpt, and I was amazed at such a powerful voice with a great song like that. So I have looked at some other artists singing this song that wasn't a part of the Les Miserables troupe. Marilyn is the only other one who sang this song with a beautiful flair. I would not have visited here if it wasn't for Susan Boyle's performance. Great job Marilyn. I remember you from my youth.

  • Talk about underrated.... this is a magnificent performance and I am so grateful for it being posted on YouTube. Her looks, her stage presence, her dress, her hair, her face, her gestures, her voice and her singing were just fantastically wonderful. This is what performing is all about.

  • gayzertube...ICAM.

  • This is one of the best performances in her life and the boobs in the audience are just sitting there and not giving her a standing ovation! It must have been a casino. She is literally drained after the song because she put everything into it. Brava!!!! Marilyn!!!!!

  • Always a class act, and what a voice!

  • I have never seen this and Marilyn never ceases to amaze me with her talent!

  • I think I remember her singing this at some pageant .. Was done beautifully then too ...

  • many many thanks- I've been looking for this ever since it aired! I think this is it, but I think I remember her singing this at another time and place, later. True? not sure, do you have her singing this at a later date?

  • this is a recording sent to me, courtesy of another YouTube'r who likes Marilyn McCoo. I don't know of any other broadcasts of Marilyn singing this song, but she must have had it in her act for a number of years... do you have any recordings of MM to post?

  • thx for reply, I don't have any MM to post, as for this song, I seem to remember another performance, I remember a brighter stage, and different (more modern) hair style, I think, but could be wrong. Not easy trying to remember details of a performance I saw once that long ago!

  • I love her she sounded wonderful!

  • You, Are So RIGHT Here !!.Marilyn IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE AN AMAZING talent, no matter who tries to Stand tall....Love , PEACE & MORE Music ...

  • I think this song was from Miss Saigon. She is such a very classy and great singer. I used to watched her on solid gold while living in Hongkong during the 80's.

  • Comment removed

  • Marilyn can out sing anyone!

  • She is great but have you heard the [Les Miserables] 10th anniversary that is also here on youtube?

  • Yeaa. Thank you. I wonder what year this was?

  • This is the kind of song she should have sung more of in her post 5D career. Its wonderful and suits her voice and style. Thanks for sharing it.
