Nice plane for small stuff and short ranges, but cancel the project and buy c-17 Globemasters instead! Why? A400 M is too small (its 37 t max freight does not fit a fully equipped AFV Puma which weighs 43 t), it's too expensive (est. 190 mio. EUR per unit) and it's too late (first delivery set for 3/2013)! Globemaster fits 77 t, costs 140 mio EUR p.u. is also STOL-capable and readily available!
Turbo prop A400M with the need of only 800m long runway and ability to manouver in high G-forces is a good replacement for old C-130s, even US army wants A400Ms.
@BadTwin25 It's true. LAPES system is not implemented in A400M, because is cosidered so dangerous for aircraft deployer. All freidht must be unload by machines or human work.
Airbus version of the C-17 Globemaster. Props are not more efficient, only cheaper and have a fraction of Thrust. On the C-17, it is proven dust can be minimized as far as ingestion goes. HBTF are just as easily maitained.
Also, das Ding hat Propeller, weil die wesentlich unanfälliger für Dreck und Staub sind, als Turbinen. Ebenso bringen die für die gewünschte Geschwindigkeit Vorteile beim Verbrauch.
hehe thats what i was thinking but i didnt want to mention anything since i dont know the technical words... which will result in ppl thinking i think its a jet engine :/
fantastic airplane! In 1959 I rode from Greece to France on a very early model of C-130...noise you would not believe...they gave us pink gummy stuff to help drown out the noise...this looks like a winner so it will depend on who bribes who as to its success (just being realistic guys :)
G777GUN. I don't know the actual science involved bit, camera film speed & prop speed make it look as tho the props are hardly moving, when in actual fact they are going full belt.
That's down to very wide chord and LOTS of blades = lots of lifting/propulsive surface area, and yes high blade angle of attack. Very efficient blade aerofoils there :-)
Now a funny question. Who thinks that if the A400M was on a small amount of fuel and only has a pilot and co-pilot with no payload. Can do a type of near hovering position. / Would be interesting to see.
I wonder where i will find the specs of the airfoil for the props?

yup turbo-prop is most efficient in dust area...

is it true that you can not drop something in flight to the back?? i heart that the back dore is not good

Hey look, they left some duct tape of the rear stabilizer
elsie911 1 year ago 3
@elsie911 jajaja These "duck tape" are sensors to measure the flight environment.

This plane is in MAG and it does look alot like a C-17 with props. It would be nice to see these in the air.

@cortes1988 Raven ftw we also got the nh-90

0:51 to 1:58 its in runway for take off but that it's not take off why that?

Well finally Airbus makes their own military aircraft because its always Boeing making these kind of aircrafts.

Looks like a C-17 with Turbo-props! Good looking plane!!

First, we speak German.

Do U understand, or shall i translate?

Ahhhhh, I see! Thanks a bunch guys! :) I figured there had to be a valid reason for that... Much appreciated!

Forgive me, I don't know everything about aircraft, BUT...here in the year 2010, we're still using prop-drives??? Why???
Beautiful plane, tho...

WearWulf say: The turboprops are more efficient and more easy to maintenance in remote airfields, where the dust is the king...

Nice effect with the props xD

The props look funny when spinning. I love this aircraft.

What a jet like sound this prop makes :s listen to its sound at the begining. also reverse thrust at 1:14
AdrianNtart 2 years ago
@AdrianNtart
That´s because its a turboprop...basically a jet engine with props instead of fan blades.
; )

"... who bribes who ..."
Essentially correct . It's the same old story for all the military aircraft now, whichever country makes them :-(

The propellers look like they are hardly moving at all at full throttle. Some amazing prop design. 840 rpm full.
The blades look like they are pitched at a 30 or 40 degree angle. Strange and cool. Cant wait to see it fly tommorow!
