  • 11000 7 Inch? Can someone please explain how to measure that on a feeler guage?

  • @alipbob I'm pretty sure he said 11 thousandths of an inch.

  • you got all the tools and knowledge for this man! i couldn't do this properly without all those tools!

  • i would never be able to do that you're too skilled

  • sooooo... what about electric guitars? :)

  • @kilipeti pretty much the same thing goes for electric guitars. adjust the truss rod, action at the bridge and the nut.

  • THat is a great video. Have you ever worked on ukuleles with buzz? On C, G & E strings, first fret (used in SO many chords!) thanks

  • Thanks!!

  • Great video, thank you. Restoring a 1970's strat and this info was very helpful.

  • you saved my life i thought i was never goin to get rid of fret buzz!!!!

  • this video is cool but this is to risky to do for beginers and solid players...

and i dont wont to ruin my guitar because of truss rod

ps. my 6 string buzz much and 5 a little any advice would be appreciated :)

  • now all i need is the workshop... hmm

  • awww...now i miss fret buzz guy. NOT! still want to kick the fucker in the nutts.

  • Ding Dong. "Who is it?" FRET BUZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!

  • Everytime the phone rings, I still hear "Fret Buzzzzzz!" Haha LOL

  • Is it difficult to replace frets. My guitar frets aren't even, so it lead to some frets buzz and mute!

  • thumbs up if you saw fret buzz guy at 01:29

  • @calpolisyummy subliminal messaging

  • Comment removed

  • Who would pay a pro to do all of that work on a cheap piece o' shit, Michael Kelly Nostalgia 15 CE guitar?

  • 3 things? I think not. Uneven frets are the worse that anything else.

  • @ctyuang most likely

  • Did you kill fret buzz guy?

  • is it possible it's just a high fret, i got a fender sonoran and it only buzzes on the 12th, 13th and 14th fret

  • what's the height between the 7th fret and the string again? how many inch? sorry i can't quite hear it.. english is my second language.

  • How did the guitar get so dicked up to start with? It looks like a nice model. Haveing to shave the nut and the bridge is pretty rad. Would temperature and humidity fuck it up that much? An accident?

  • Awesome Video, All I wish is that you guys use metric system in the videos or atleast tell how much 1/1000 of an inch is on video, its crazy, I can't get the measurements right....It drives me nuts.........No Offence to anyone

  • You don't know how to convert inches to metric? How old are you? They teach that in the 4th grade here. Multiply .001 x 25.4. You get .0254mm. Pretty easy, huh? .015 inches = .381mm

  • Thank you FPE for this clean version of the video :-)

  • what if it sounds like the buzz is coming from the bridge? in my case that is, it comes from the bridge :\ im not sure how to fix that any help would be gladly accepted thank you

  • @wishingstar7871 i hate that man with such a passion

  • WOW...how awesome of you to do this. I'm blown away. You could have easily said fuch off azzholes and I'm so glad you didn't cuz your very knowledgeable with a lot to share. Very humble and noble of you. A true man.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • Thanks Eric, I followed the steps and I have set up 3 of my guitars and one bass and it is awesome!

    Thank you so very much.

  • Thanks, good info and examples.

  • FRET BUZZZZZ!!!

  • i want to learn how to fix my guitar and stuff but i don't want to ruin my guitar :/

i think i just ruined it...

  • @smashingpoop I hear ya, buy a cheap one to learn to work on so you dont mess up an expensive one. You can get cheap Dean's for $99.00 usd brand new, they even have a tremolo so you can really get lost trying to tune a POS.

  • dude........that was a very good demonstration......thank you very much for that info....cheers....Darryl......

  • 6:40 haha..he said penatrate

  • Hahah.,he said nut

  • math people pls what is 11,000's of an inch? i have a feeler gauge that's measured in inches/mm ('',)

  • @keverinkarama google this: conversion table 1/1000 inch to mm

  • @michaeljjeffrey i got it already its 0.011 inches for those that still dont know.

  • 6:42 ......... is that??? THE FRET BUZZ MAN??!!

  • Just fixed the buzz on my guitar with this advice :)

  • Dude you're a master at fixing guitars. Thanks for the help.

  • Ok I don't get it when I watch the video with the fret buzz guy everyone wants to kill him but when I watch this video everyone misses him.

  • I'm probably in the minority here, but I prefer the fret buzz / dirty version.

  • FRED BUUZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:28 fretbuzz makes an appearance

  • AWWW.... the first one was better. I couldn't stop laughing at that guy

    FRET BUZZ!!!

  • FRET BUZZ!

  • Which way should I turn the truss rod if I have fret buzz on the bass E open, first, and second fret?

  • I found just filing down the first fret reduced a whole lot of buzzing, now I can do power chords better on my les paul copy.

  • I can't believe it! This is the first guy I've seen on Youtube who actually knew how to pronounce "D'Addario." So, kudos for that. However, in listing the causes of fret-buzz, you really should have addressed fret issues (i.e. a high fret, flatted fret tops etc.) A funky fret or frets will make a guitar buzz (as David Taub might say) like a mother!

  • does the guitar neck have its own wrench size or is it all the same and if it is what size iz the wrech?

  • LEAVE HIM THE FUCK ALONE, HES WORKING

  • this guy knows his shit

  • thanks ... very good stuff (thumbs up). suggest deleting the annoying video ... you don't need the distraction ... or better ... your viewers don't need the.distraction. LIke the capo trick ... a mensa solution.

  • very nice work, im in the middle of teaching myself about all the specs and using gauges and all that stuff. can be a little overwhelming lol.

  • Fantastic craftsman. Great video.

  • Why the fuck would you want to make that shouting version in the first place?

  • very good and clear explanation, thanks!

  • thanks man i had a fret buzz problem on my new ibanez all i had to do was losen the trus rod like you said and it fixed the problem

  • can you make a video for bass too?

  • I have an Am. Strat. Local shop added a touch of bend and now no fret buzz, except more at the body end of the neck. Is this a micro tilt problem now, or did he tweak it too much?

  • Srry 1:29 :P

  • Pause as soon as it hits 1:19 I WANA KILL THAT GUY!

  • the last chord he does sounds horrible

  • Really helpful video dude thanks.

  • The guy at the shop by my house was going to charge me $40 bucks for 5 minutes of work. Thank you so much!

  • pause at 1:28

  • @LouReedsBooks LOL subliminal !! lolol

  • FRET BUZZ!!!!

  • Now a version without the Annoying Phone!

  • Try to do the nut thing on a Floyd Rose guitar :D

  • Hay i have a new taylor 214 ce that dont sound much better then that. paid $800. when i go out to play a gig i put it on a stand and advertise that im playin a $199 Kona.

  • Eric,

First thanks for the non fret buzz version. I may want you to work on my acoustic guitar. I had this idiot in Nashville work on it and he didn't know shit from apple butter. Not bragging, but check my vids out so you know I know a little. Please respond and I'll give you details about the guitar I need worked on. Thanks

  • I could'nt even finish the other version. I almost punched the screen!

  • where can i get that 21,007 inch gauge?

  • @metallicafan2005 not 21 007 inch, its 21 thousandths OF an inch. lol

  • @mattdd05 thanks, i know it's not what you mean but i'm trying to tell you that it sound like that when you say it. for the those who does not the proper technical knowledge, they would have the same question. but of course, common sense dictates that u dont mean 21k inches. thanks anyway, the video is very informative. i almost ruined my les paul after watching it coz i decided to play with the truss rod. lol.

  • help please!

whenever i bend the G string while i'm playing, the string keeps rubbing against the fret, making the string go off tune. any tips?

  • for some reason even if my guitar is perfectly setup no fret buzz what so ever then i replace my astrings with peice o shit D'addario there's buzzing every where are D'addario's just naturally buzzy?

  • I always change one string at a time to keep tension on the neck.

  • If you're not a professional don't try to adjust your truss rod like him. Only turn it about a quarter turn at a time, you'll reduce the risk of stripping your rod and having to adjust multiple times.

  • is there any other way to get rid of fret buzz? i mean i dont really want to go and buy more strings. and i cant restring my guitar for crap

  • @Sinjid296 restringing just takes practice once youve done it a few times you'll get it. it may sound stupid - but youtube how to do it. you really get to learn how your instruments work

  • still sounds a little buzzy to me

  • BOB marley tee shirt!!!!! :D

  • on the other version, about 2 minutes in, there was a button that popped up that said "hate me?, click here for the edited version". XD

  • Eric is awesome he does my guitars and is very very reasonable in his prices. I will not go anywhere else. Alot of famous people go to him.

  • Freeet Buuuzzz lasted for 2 minutes? omg

    God bless the clean version

  • what a buitiful guitar... to bad that the owner cant take care of it.

  • phew, no lamer in this version

  • I have fret buzz on my acoustic. It's very strong around the 1-3 frets. I've always had it, but I just got my guitar set up and now it's buzzing a lot more. They didn't change my strings which were light gauge, and the action is nice and low. Except now the low E string on the 3rd fret is buzzing like crazy. How can I fix this?

I first thought there wasn't enough curve in the neck, so I kept tightening it. But now that I realize, I have no space under 7th fret when I followed Eric's method.

  • .....Would that mean I have to loosen the truss rod (turn counter clockwise - left) in order to get some space under there? Oh and, one of my strings broke which is good because I heard getting higher gauge strings can help the buzz (I had lights, now I wanna buy mediums). Would this help at all?

Any advice? Thank you in advance.

  • i wish they said fred buzz at the end like a billion times just to piss people off.

    XD

  • ITZ FRET BUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZ!!!!

  • Fuck it this shit sounds hard ill just pay someone to do the shit probably a cheaper way so i dont mess up my guitar

  • i got a little cheap acoustic but it gets the job done and no fret buzz thank fuckin god

  • I feel bad for you having to edit this video. FRET BUZZ! SHUT UP!

But I'm glad you had the brain to do it.

  • is it possible to make all those measurements you made (the ones on how high the string is from the fret) with a ruler? maybe you could elaborate on what those measurements are. thanks in advance. help would be much appreciated.

  • how much would a job like this cost?

  • Eric, let me come stay at your house for a year. I will work for food and shelter. Teach me everything you know. I can cook many comfort foods, and I'm tidy. Not afraid of hard work. Get back to me.

  • God, I wish I could find any guitar repair shop as professional as this one, or not, I have to fix my guitar on my own.Without a good tool set, it's a disaster !

  • Suggesting to people to make their own adjustments to the truss is a bit irresponsible. Truss rods are very delicate and can snap very easily, possibly causing the neck or the entire guitar to be worthless.

Also, I would never suggest using D'Addario strings on an acoustic. The quality on their acoustic strings is lackluster at best.

  • lol i`d never thought this vid would actually work, i bought a strat today and i was so excited and i forgot to check it out... so it basically came with a buzz, so i just did some stuff with the truss rod...

  • thanks - this video helped me get rid buzz that was in one spot

  • im not going to follow this instruction video because its sucks fret buzz sucks and i dotn care if theres a better version it sucks

  • that makes no sense, its a video to get RID of fret buzz?

  • he s guitar engineer , lol

  • First version was kinda dumb. Does that guy really think saying "Fret Buzz" over and over is funny?? Jeez.

  • great info, backGround 'music' is irritating as f@ck though..... turn that crap off!

but thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • I got the same problem on my Dean Dime o Flame... and i don't wanna do this buy myself... and i don't wanna ruin my guitar.... uhmm how much does it cost to remove the fret buzz on my guitar.. please help

  • in most places im guessing 20 or 30 dollers but if it has a floyd rose probably like 15 or 20 more cause of all the work that is required to put strings in those things

  • omg i thought it was fucking halarius how they hade to make another video because they hated him saying fret buzz xd!!!!!!!!!!! awsome vid

  • thanks man! this video saved me from paying 30 dollars to get somebody to fix it for me!

  • FRET BUZZ!!! lol

  • what about my actions are alittle to high after doing all that towards the brigde. would i have to sand the bridge saddle down?

  • obviously yes.

  • Fuck. I guess I'll have to take my guitar and have this done if the buzz doesn't go away.

  • The other version pissed me off!!!!!!

  • haha, this is awesome, dang man. this is really good. amazing video. good job guys, I'm a fan for life

  • Nice video man! Thanks!

  • Next, Richard should write in "now how do I get rid of fret buzz if I dont have a professional guitar workshop with tools, like an industrial sized belt sander, at my disposal?"

  • @thpsthree yeah i don't have any of that

  • @thpsthree You don't HAVE to have that. It's just easier.

  • i love the sound when you first put on acoustic strings especially for the first 2 hours or so I wonder why though?????

  • Still Buzz on Low E String 5th fret if you hear it well. Not that simple if you only have a fret buzz in just one fret. Sometime needs filing of frets to get it right. Raising the strings might help but will effect playability and not recommended. Low end guitars manufacturers seems not to pay attention for fret alignment.

  • what if i dont have tool to check gap, how much is ELEVENTH THOUSAND INCH??

  • you can buy one from any motor factor they are called tappet gauges...about £2

  • You'll need a feeler gauge to get an accurate reading...They are relatively cheap from just about any auto parts store, I bought mine for under 10 bucks

  • thnx lol i got a second hand guitar yesdterdya had gues what fret buzz up to the 5th fret

  • im a fuken newbie im going to the shop :(

  • thank god a clean version with no fret buzz!!

  • ok i have a bc rich mockingbird neck through that has recently got fret buzz on the 14 fret on both e strings.. its that bad of a buzz that you cant really here the note at all when playing the high E how do i get rid of it?! it driveing me mad

  • what kind of bridge do you have?

  • managed to fix it! after watching this vid i decided to have a little look at the guitar and spotted somthing i musta done when changeing the strings, the string saddle musta come of and i put it back on the wrong way round! once i changed that the buzz was gone...happy days!

  • you might need a fret job...

if its on the 14th the 15 fret is prolly too high or the 14th is too low

that or check and make sure there isnt a bow in one spot of the neck

  • Thank You!!! so much for getting rid of that fucken annoying Fret Buzz guy. Fuck that is annoying. I can now finally watch this video without hearing FRET BUZZ!!!

  • Ahh. Relief.

  • Thanks for getting rid of the idiotic 'fret buzz' character. I have no sense of humor (seriously - was born without anything like that) so I didn't think it was funny at all. Do doubt some Amerikans did. I learned a lot from your video. Like the capo tip - great. I would have probably wasted a set of strings, lost money, and eventually went bankrupt and had to close my shop. Now I will know not to do that. THANKS!

  • FRET BUZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • thank GOD for no fret buzz guy. GODDAMN

  • omg thank you! i could not stand that annoying fret buzz guy!!!!!!

  • Good video, Thumbs up :)

  • I still don't get the torsion bar? How do you tell by looking? When you loosen/tighten does the neck bow instantly; take awhile? I understand the concept; just never seen it work well. I big fan of cheap guitars $200 or less and working knowledge is a must.

    Thank you for this video!

    Eric

  • bro, you should make video about how to set up double locking tremolo. pro-like! cuz i think a lot of people having problem with it. not just how to change strings etc. i having this problem, which when first time when i bought ibanez rg 2550ZR i still can do flicker action with the trremolo and the string feel so light, but after i change the string myself, i cant get the flick anymore, the tremolo action is not smooth as before, harder to pitch down/up.strings are slightly harder. please help!

  • Aww man i want your job!!

id love to fix guitars for a living :D

  • i cant believe it hahaha he uploaded a clean version xD the other version is funny as hell

  • Soo much better now

  • заибок

  • finally they release this!

  • i've been doing this since i was 12

  • good for you

  • Great, it is now possible to pay attention to the cool stuff without getting distracted by a ridiculously annoying, ear-piercing wail popping up every few seconds, whenever he was explaining some important thing =).

  • what about electric?

  • In the electric guitar you usually have an adjustable bridge which makes things a lot easier.

  • ahaha, old version was way better =) this is way too serios... FREEEET BUUUZZ !!!

  • great video

  • 6:44 laaal XD

  • wow!!! so its actually so difficult to alter the action of a guitar! Maybe I should consider buying a new acoustic guitar, instead of servicing my cheap TGM acoustic.

  • i like this, without the annoying shit!

  • I'm desperate to get a Pro like this where I live: Malaga, Spain! Anyone????

  • emm... If there is a video about bass guitar fret buzz ,add it !

  • i second that

  • crap, it's too complicated for me. do this kind of service available at regular guitar service shop?

  • Yes, well it is in my regular guitar shop so :)

    Just ask 'em I guess?

  • Bring back more FPE TV episodes or more guitar tech tips!

  • ima miss fret buzz :(

  • how do u use that measuring thing for the strings, i have one but i dont know how to use it

  • I'm not quite sure, but I think all the bars are of different thickness and he just like, puts em in between and if it fits he knows it's that thick (or less)

  • man. i wish i could get this guy to set up my electrics hella nicely.

  • This is the edited clip without Fret Buzz - whom you all hated!

    fpe tv!

  • tyvm
