How did the guitar get so dicked up to start with? It looks like a nice model. Haveing to shave the nut and the bridge is pretty rad. Would temperature and humidity fuck it up that much? An accident?
Awesome Video, All I wish is that you guys use metric system in the videos or atleast tell how much 1/1000 of an inch is on video, its crazy, I can't get the measurements right....It drives me nuts.........No Offence to anyone
You don't know how to convert inches to metric? How old are you? They teach that in the 4th grade here. Multiply .001 x 25.4. You get .0254mm. Pretty easy, huh? .015 inches = .381mm
what if it sounds like the buzz is coming from the bridge? in my case that is, it comes from the bridge :\ im not sure how to fix that any help would be gladly accepted thank you
WOW...how awesome of you to do this. I'm blown away. You could have easily said fuch off azzholes and I'm so glad you didn't cuz your very knowledgeable with a lot to share. Very humble and noble of you. A true man.
@smashingpoop I hear ya, buy a cheap one to learn to work on so you dont mess up an expensive one. You can get cheap Dean's for $99.00 usd brand new, they even have a tremolo so you can really get lost trying to tune a POS.
pls can someone answer... I regret buying my shitty electric Harley Benton. So now I have a 1 cm gap between neck and strings when doing the 1st - 22nd fret. I know i need to adjust truss rod too... but im sooooo scared of doing it.. :( what if the neck blows away? I've heard some stuff about it.. pls some advice? also this old man at the store told me it needs 100 euro worth of repair :O.. is that possible? last resort (after asking other stores) is taking it to get repaired and paying :/
My guitar might need a truss rod re-alignment...but I'm not sure. Every fret on every string is good except the 1st e string, frets 11-13. Those frets make a buzzing sound regardless of tuning. So do I need to adjust the truss rod?
I can't believe it! This is the first guy I've seen on Youtube who actually knew how to pronounce "D'Addario." So, kudos for that. However, in listing the causes of fret-buzz, you really should have addressed fret issues (i.e. a high fret, flatted fret tops etc.) A funky fret or frets will make a guitar buzz (as David Taub might say) like a mother!
thanks ... very good stuff (thumbs up). suggest deleting the annoying video ... you don't need the distraction ... or better ... your viewers don't need the.distraction. LIke the capo trick ... a mensa solution.
I have an Am. Strat. Local shop added a touch of bend and now no fret buzz, except more at the body end of the neck. Is this a micro tilt problem now, or did he tweak it too much?

Not bragging, but check my vids out so you know I know a little. Please respond and I'll give you details about the guitar I need worked on. Thanks
@mattdd05 thanks, i know it's not what you mean but i'm trying to tell you that it sound like that when you say it. for the those who does not the proper technical knowledge, they would have the same question. but of course, common sense dictates that u dont mean 21k inches. thanks anyway, the video is very informative. i almost ruined my les paul after watching it coz i decided to play with the truss rod. lol.
for some reason even if my guitar is perfectly setup no fret buzz what so ever then i replace my astrings with peice o shit D'addario there's buzzing every where are D'addario's just naturally buzzy?
If you're not a professional don't try to adjust your truss rod like him. Only turn it about a quarter turn at a time, you'll reduce the risk of stripping your rod and having to adjust multiple times.
@Sinjid296 restringing just takes practice once youve done it a few times you'll get it. it may sound stupid - but youtube how to do it. you really get to learn how your instruments work
I have fret buzz on my acoustic. It's very strong around the 1-3 frets. I've always had it, but I just got my guitar set up and now it's buzzing a lot more. They didn't change my strings which were light gauge, and the action is nice and low. Except now the low E string on the 3rd fret is buzzing like crazy. How can I fix this?
I first thought there wasn't enough curve in the neck, so I kept tightening it. But now that I realize, I have no space under 7th fret when I followed Eric's method.
.....Would that mean I have to loosen the truss rod (turn counter clockwise - left) in order to get some space under there? Oh and, one of my strings broke which is good because I heard getting higher gauge strings can help the buzz (I had lights, now I wanna buy mediums). Would this help at all?
is it possible to make all those measurements you made (the ones on how high the string is from the fret) with a ruler? maybe you could elaborate on what those measurements are. thanks in advance. help would be much appreciated.
Eric, let me come stay at your house for a year. I will work for food and shelter. Teach me everything you know. I can cook many comfort foods, and I'm tidy. Not afraid of hard work. Get back to me.
God, I wish I could find any guitar repair shop as professional as this one, or not, I have to fix my guitar on my own.Without a good tool set, it's a disaster !
Suggesting to people to make their own adjustments to the truss is a bit irresponsible. Truss rods are very delicate and can snap very easily, possibly causing the neck or the entire guitar to be worthless.
Also, I would never suggest using D'Addario strings on an acoustic. The quality on their acoustic strings is lackluster at best.
lol i`d never thought this vid would actually work, i bought a strat today and i was so excited and i forgot to check it out... so it basically came with a buzz, so i just did some stuff with the truss rod...
I got the same problem on my Dean Dime o Flame... and i don't wanna do this buy myself... and i don't wanna ruin my guitar.... uhmm how much does it cost to remove the fret buzz on my guitar.. please help
in most places im guessing 20 or 30 dollers but if it has a floyd rose probably like 15 or 20 more cause of all the work that is required to put strings in those things
i have a floyd rose bridge and i raised the action till i had no more buzz and i did not touch the intonation screw or truss rod but now i have a buzz problem on the last 2 open strings what do i do now
Next, Richard should write in "now how do I get rid of fret buzz if I dont have a professional guitar workshop with tools, like an industrial sized belt sander, at my disposal?"
Still Buzz on Low E String 5th fret if you hear it well. Not that simple if you only have a fret buzz in just one fret. Sometime needs filing of frets to get it right. Raising the strings might help but will effect playability and not recommended. Low end guitars manufacturers seems not to pay attention for fret alignment.
You'll need a feeler gauge to get an accurate reading...They are relatively cheap from just about any auto parts store, I bought mine for under 10 bucks
ok i have a bc rich mockingbird neck through that has recently got fret buzz on the 14 fret on both e strings.. its that bad of a buzz that you cant really here the note at all when playing the high E how do i get rid of it?! it driveing me mad
managed to fix it! after watching this vid i decided to have a little look at the guitar and spotted somthing i musta done when changeing the strings, the string saddle musta come of and i put it back on the wrong way round! once i changed that the buzz was gone...happy days!
Thank You!!! so much for getting rid of that fucken annoying Fret Buzz guy. Fuck that is annoying. I can now finally watch this video without hearing FRET BUZZ!!!
Thanks for getting rid of the idiotic 'fret buzz' character. I have no sense of humor (seriously - was born without anything like that) so I didn't think it was funny at all. Do doubt some Amerikans did. I learned a lot from your video. Like the capo tip - great. I would have probably wasted a set of strings, lost money, and eventually went bankrupt and had to close my shop. Now I will know not to do that. THANKS!
I still don't get the torsion bar? How do you tell by looking? When you loosen/tighten does the neck bow instantly; take awhile? I understand the concept; just never seen it work well. I big fan of cheap guitars $200 or less and working knowledge is a must.
bro, you should make video about how to set up double locking tremolo. pro-like! cuz i think a lot of people having problem with it. not just how to change strings etc. i having this problem, which when first time when i bought ibanez rg 2550ZR i still can do flicker action with the trremolo and the string feel so light, but after i change the string myself, i cant get the flick anymore, the tremolo action is not smooth as before, harder to pitch down/up.strings are slightly harder. please help!
Great, it is now possible to pay attention to the cool stuff without getting distracted by a ridiculously annoying, ear-piercing wail popping up every few seconds, whenever he was explaining some important thing =).
wow!!! so its actually so difficult to alter the action of a guitar! Maybe I should consider buying a new acoustic guitar, instead of servicing my cheap TGM acoustic.
I'm not quite sure, but I think all the bars are of different thickness and he just like, puts em in between and if it fits he knows it's that thick (or less)

you might need a fret job...
if its on the 14th the 15 fret is prolly too high or the 14th is too low
that or check and make sure there isnt a bow in one spot of the neck

Thank you for this video!

bro, you should make video about how to set up double locking tremolo. pro-like! cuz i think a lot of people having problem with it. not just how to change strings etc. i having this problem, which when first time when i bought ibanez rg 2550ZR i still can do flicker action with the trremolo and the string feel so light, but after i change the string myself, i cant get the flick anymore, the tremolo action is not smooth as before, harder to pitch down/up.strings are slightly harder. please help!

Great, it is now possible to pay attention to the cool stuff without getting distracted by a ridiculously annoying, ear-piercing wail popping up every few seconds, whenever he was explaining some important thing =).

werodave13 2 years ago 2
In the electric guitar you usually have an adjustable bridge which makes things a lot easier.

wow!!! so its actually so difficult to alter the action of a guitar! Maybe I should consider buying a new acoustic guitar, instead of servicing my cheap TGM acoustic.

hvnboi 2 years ago
I'm not quite sure, but I think all the bars are of different thickness and he just like, puts em in between and if it fits he knows it's that thick (or less)
