Uhm flaming, you dont need to buy the Xbox HD DVD Player. You can use the system its self, it can play CDs, and xbox original games (most of them).

And PS3 has had hardware problems, they have caught fire, they have exploded, they have fried. Sony even said on their site that they noticed some first consoles did have major problems, and they are fixed now.

Also, just like the PS3, xbox consoles dont get the Red Ring of death as much now, unless its treated badly.
