Alex Hutchings is definitely one of the finest and amazing guitarist I have heard and seen. You are right. His style is something I strive to attain. His influence on my guitar style now is to strive to play out of the ordinary groove. To try to create a technique that is not similar to anyone else or just the typical blues or hard rock and roll style boogie. It's definitely progressive fusion jazz rock and I like it a lot.
Its a crying shame people like him and govan arent anywhere.I m sure they love it but its gotta suck after awhile doing clinics for money cuse your record sales arent enough. Then you have someone like cc deville from poison who made shits loads of money and women thought he was the greatest guitarist in the world? How insane is that!!!!!!
@jittboy1 It's the genre. Nothing stops GG or AH from making pop recordings. But perhaps its not something they want or lack the aptitude for. Even a Steve Vai solo record's sale never compared with the number's generated by Whitesnake -- his pop outing. To fit in a creative group and create apt material for a particular audience is also a dimension of a professional musician's development.
@AmritsarAnarchist I do disagree to a point its easy to shred but to write hooks isnt. There arent many Eddie van halens or jimmy page s left that can write hooks that last for generations. But my biggest point was, its insane that guitarist like this lack respect in a bigger picture.GG and AH arent going to get the chance to join a band like Ozzy. But their shred chops are insane but thier rock band chops as far as writing skills?Well steve morse hasnt helped deep purple or moore ufo
@jittboy1 Well, it does seem that GG would be an overkill in a band, AH'd be fine. And it's plain conjecture whether even Blackmore would've been able to bail out Deep Purple right now. Guess we both agree that hook-writing is a field where both GG and AH remain unverified.
For once the audience has energy.
