This is indeed an All time Great. Bruce Dern did his usual excellent performance in the opening Scene as the Beau who gets killed. You didn't need all the Blood and Gore that they show today! 10-stars! Thanks very much for posting!
This is one of my all-time faves. Second to What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. Found them when I was 12 in a box of VHS in the basement. Instant love. Bette Davis was a queen of the screen, wasn't she? Thanks for posting.
Lee's hand that was cut off was in fact real, according to the documentary they picked it up at a funeral parlor and filmed it in reverse. Also at 9:27 the actor wielding that cleaver must have actually had to cut the hand off with a pretty hard blow. at that time stamp look at the narrow chunk of wood taken out of the table from the cleaver's contact with it!
That cleaver murder must have been pretty damn graphic for '64 given how many graphic thrillers came out then, such as Strait-Jacket with Joan Crawford, also from '64.
@hjb103055 From what Ive read Bette was not to keen to have Victor in Baby Jane ,why I dont know! Whatever,he impressed her enough to play her father in HushHush-
@newrochellephoenix she didn't want her "leading man" to be a fattie. why she was so vain about it who knows especially considering the grotesque makeup she came up with for jane.
wonderful movie. apart from the performances by the two main stars, watch out for a blistering performance from agnes moorehead as the housekeeper. this is powerful stuff.
Victor Buono Looks old[early 20s]

Unfortunately Bette Davis's voice is too old to be a teenager's when she screams
"I could kill you!"

@SGCSW I'd have it no other way, though.

The chops are so clean, the murderer must have been a professional butcher.

It's good how the picture behind him is set there to mean he feels intimidated.

Victor Bruno es actuallmente mas joven de Bette Davis aqui.

Uno de los errores de esa película fue el vestuario en la fiesta en 1927. Todos los vestidos y peinados son de 1964, no de 1927!
