She didn't actually sing - the singing voice was dubbed (according to IMDB) by Renee Armand, one of the co-writers of Michael Jackson's One Day in Your Life. Yeah I didn't know that either but I still love the song. Wonder why nobody has yet posted the actual film performance yet, although she doesn't sing it all in that I know.
I do agree with the others here... Carol Linley is such a pretty and pretty kitty. And what a surprise to hear she singing when I watched the poseidon adventure!
one of the best looking actresses ever and her acting was under appreciated. just wish she didn't pose for playboy. it underminds her acting and beautiful face. should leave the body to the imagination.
I watched the Poseidon Adventure so many times, I can recite the words to the entire movie. I Met Carol Lynley in 1976 in NYC. She was in a Play called Absurd Person Singular. I was Star-struck. My dad took lots of pictures of Me with Carol. I was a nerdy 12 year old girl who wanted to be an actress just like Carol. I gave her a letter asking her to write me back. She never did. I went back to the theatre 6 months later. I met Carol again. Gave her another letter. She never wrote.
Wonderful compilation of the lovely and incomparable Ms. Lynley as Nonnie, one of my favorite characters from the film. She will always be one of the lovliest women to have graced the silver screen.
what a beautiful girl. when i first say PE i remember how much she looked like my 8th grade teacher Mrs. Pisana. I wanted to do her too. i didn't know what that was, but it was most definitly a crush
people forget that Carol Lynley was a household name in the 60s and early 70s. I think I remember reading somewhere that she put raising her daughter first and she lost interest in Hollywood, but her fans never lost interest in Carol. She would have made a splendid addition to the Dynasty cast in the 80s. When I was a boy I though Carol Lynley was just incedible, and I loved her in The Posiden Adventure.
I like Joan Van Ark, but that would have been awesome for Carol to reunite with her audience by appearing on Dallas and then follow it up on Knots Landing! Thanks for the info.
This "Poseidon Adventure" was the best (not the remake)! All the actors - Hackman, Winters, Lynley, McDowell, Borgnine, Stevens, Buttons, et al were absolutely superb!!
i HAVE the REAL VERSION FROM THE MOVIE, the full song, great quality, recorded in a recording studio! go to my account (brandonthefreak) and click on the video called THE MORNING AFTER Carol Lynley
I bought the special(2 disc)edition "Poseidon Adventure" DVD and there is a segment about the song "Morning After" on the "features" disc. The songwriters(Al Kasha/Joel Hirchshhorn) state that Carol actually lip-sync'd to a singer named Rennee Armand. But I also read a rumor that both Rennee AND Carol's voices were blended in the final vocals for the film- would love to find out!
Just LOVE her! After first glimpsing her in Poseidon(1972), I began hunting out every other film she was in(Otto Priminger's The Cardinal,Return to Peyton Place,The Shuttered Room,Bunny Lake Is Missing). She seemed to be doomed later to B-Type drama/horror movies(like "The Elevator"), playing victims in the late '70's. Still, I found her(and still do) a beautiful woman. And I think McGoveren's "Morning After" is the best song Maureen ever actually recorded.

I've watched Poseidon 100 times because of Carol.

Maureen McGovern butchered this song, she oversang it. It was better as a softer ballad like in the movie.

Just a wonderful video of Carol from my favorite movie. Nobody else could play Nonnie so convincingly. Loved the video. :-) Mrs. Linarcos.
