  • No VOLUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

  • @Mr12bwith! Thank you for your comment! Yess, I was a tourist from Finland when I filmed this with a 8 mm camera.

    :-)

  • I remember London in 1968 as I was working as an office boy in Hendon NW4.

Earning £7.00 pounds a week,my Grandfather would give me 10 shillings and it would last me all the week.

    1)one packet of cigs

    2)one 45 record.

3)A trip to the west end on the tube.

    4)A film.

And i still had a few pennies left.

  • This video's a nice momento of a holiday...But, apart from the fashions and the shape of buses and cars, almost all of these locations are pretty much identical today....I would say that as a tourist destination, London's improved since then. Better food, More things to see for example, Docklands, Tate modern, and the parks remain as beautiful as ever...

  • The few black people seen here, look a class above the shower that roam and tarnish London streets today. What went wrong?

  • It really is great watching videos like this ..

My earliest memories of London .. dates back to '73 ..

My Father took me to the Cup Final between Leeds and Sunderland at Wembley ..

We had a day out in London .. and i had a great time :) ..

Regarding the Cup Final .. we lost 1-0thanks to Ian Porterfield :) .. Memories :):):)

  • How wonderful! I can remember London already back in the early 70's and it brings back such happy memories. It makes me sad to realise that I can't recognise most of those memories anymore - they are all beginning to seem like only a dream I had.

  • I hate the way that happens.

  • Fantastic footage, good to see. Would be even better overlaid with some fitting 60's music.

  • It's strange to think now what a happy place London was in 1968. I was working in a hospital in South London at the time but everywhere was like a holiday.

  • This is really great to see, many thanks, it brings back the good old days of sixties London wonderfully!

  • Many thanks for posting. Great to see some reality footage from the period.

  • yes, there is other footage from that period, but of course it's not reality footage like this.....more like un-reality footage. like the way tea is tea,but there is also un-tea tea as well. it's a great cuppa,un-tea tea.

  • Thanks for sharing this...I was born in London during July 1968 to Pakistani Immigrants and on my recent 40th searched for images of my birth City and your video more then delivered a superb almost nostalgic insight on life as my parents who loved London in those good ole days fondly remember. Thank You again. God Bless. Asad Siddiqi

  • how cool

  • Very enjoyable and rare colour footage.

  • England was such a great place in those days.

I grew up in Cambridge, but moved to the States in 1982.

  • I spent most of my life in Kensington and Chelsea. Thanks so much for sharing. Hyde Park has hardly changed. William

  • Really enjoyed this, as it offers a true picture of London during that very "happening" decade. I'll return again and again to see this.

  • Great footage of swinging London.

  • Thanks so much for putting this on - a rare but true insight into what London was really like at that time. Brilliant!
