  • I've found it beneficial to have the banjo in tune.

  • I won't show this to my brother who sold a pre-civil war gibson on e-bay for "a song", as they say. He now regrets it. Your banjo and your pickin' sound great!

  • tighten that head up and move closer to the bridge its not a guitar

  • Some folks may enjoy the shrill bite of a tight head on an old arch top played close to the bridge (Ralph Stanley sure could crack windows with his) and that's fine with me. However, I prefer the tubby sound this banjo produces with a slightly looser head. Thanks for your comment.

  • @bullystick I agree, this is about the perfect sound for an archtop!

  • I agree. I was about to say the exact same thing when I saw this. The head on my banjo is really loose and I love how it sounds. I would much rather here that BIG FAT sound than a shrill or tinty sound like a tight head produces.

  • Man that thing is sweet!

  • Sounding beautiful man.How much did you buy it for? If you don't mind me asking ofcourse.

  • Some things just get better with age... That ol' Gibson is a true survivor! Thanks for sharing... Love those tunes ;)

  • Archtops are FABULOUS...and yours is superb!

Good luck and thanks for treating us to great pickin'!

  • Yeah..time to upgrade and get rid of that old thing! ( I'll take it ! )

Seriously though...your pulling a nice tone out of that archtop!

  • I appreciate your generosity to relieve me of the old banjo but I've grown very fond of its tone and response. Thanks for your comments.

  • Great talent! Very sweet sounding instrument, too!

  • Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Danged if that ain't some good pickin! Too bad you can't afford a nice new banjo to pick instead of that old clunker! Good job on the video.

  • clunker??????????/ It's a pre war gibson. Tell me yer kiddin right?

  • I am sure it was a joke.

  • the older the instrument, the better it is -_-
