No matter how much we tell people that these dogs are 100% different from the average k-9, an need to be worked in such manners, they wont get it. Also MWD'S have an even more intense job then police k-9's. You have to be able to control when these MWD'S need to be loud or quiet for many reasons!

@JCojocaru Haha, I know. I've used them to aid in the training of barkers many times. They tried every bark collar they knew of. This dog could tolerate anything, even the strongest shock collars. She walked right through an activated invisible fence that was DEFINITELY activated! Some dogs just seem to have an immunity to that sort of stuff. I have been fortunate enough to have dogs who get the hint almost immediately, but American bred goldens aren't exactly known for their brains.

Who came up with the debarking idea? I've been in MWD and contract guard kennels plenty of times and, as loud as it gets, never has a single dog been de-barked. In fact, they usually like for the dogs to bark because that's one way they have of telling people "get back" that humans will listen do. The dog could be hoarse, or maybe it has an unusual bark. In the end, if the dog felt it was being maltreated, do you think those fangs would be aimed AWAY from the guy with the leash?

for even more idiots here, dogs CAN still barks out when pulling on the lead, just a little quieter. this dog isnt even pulling on the lead that hard in the first place because you can see the farthest the dog gets from the soldier holding it is about 5 inches

@mark442w30 the dog was standing on its own attempting to lunge at the camera man. plus why, when the dog was down back on all fours was still quiet barking? when my dog is in a choke hold collar, it still barks fine, I dont know where you get your info from or why you are in so much denial of the fact that the military removes their vocal cords as a whole, but you cant just SAY that you are a professional dog trainer and you know your stuff. choke holds do not suppress their barking

@samuriguy909 um yes they do over time they will damage cords if choked and you can clearly see the dog is being held up off the ground and over time that will do it . been training dogs for over 26 years work closley with vets been animal control officer for 15years and SGT K9 handler in USAR . I left the USAR IN OCT OF 08 WE NEVER TOOK THE CORD OUT also vets or should i say good vet wont remove them any more and my Mal was used in combat. so wise up lil boy. The dog is choking.

@samuriguy909 from:09 to:23 the dog was held up by the collar and his front paws didnt touch the ground . so if you do this over time it will damage the cords preventing him from barking. thus if you got thid Mal and he did this since and befor you got it thats why it might not bark. you should send the handler back to training because hes causing the dog harm. you dont choke a fucking dog i never used a choke collar on a dog the dog and handler needs more training. nice old ACU`s

If you do this to a dog over and over he will losse his bark untill the handler stops Hanging him or the dog stops pulling on the collar. you can hear the breathing of the dog that hes is being choked. God i love all these arm chair dog experts. oh by the way thats a chain CHOKE collar. not the word CHOKE!!!!!!!!!

Who came up with the debarking idea? I've been in MWD and contract guard kennels plenty of times and, as loud as it gets, never has a single dog been de-barked. In fact, they usually like for the dogs to bark because that's one way they have of telling people "get back" that humans will listen do. The dog could be hoarse, or maybe it has an unusual bark. In the end, if the dog felt it was being maltreated, do you think those fangs would be aimed AWAY from the guy with the leash?

And no, they don't remove military working dogs vocal chords...Why would that help anything? They use working dogs to find drugs, people, explosives, etc... I don't think his vocal cords have been removed, he is barking directly into the camera, and it probably just isn't high enough quality to be able to record the sound. I had the same problem with trying to record my dogs and wolfdog playing. My camera's capabilities weren't up to the job and it muted the audio. here, you can actually hear what sounds like an echo from the rest of the room. You can also hear the static with every bark, camera's sound disk is overloaded.
