@PREZ150 yeah, Pancho Villa was a great fighter too. Would of been great to see both these great fighters at their best but Jimmy was well past his prime and came out of retirement to fight Pancho. Can't believe that Pancho died of a tooth infection. A very sad way to die. BOTH were great fighters. They are both remembered by true boxing fans after all the years. Respect to them both.
Wilde had been retired for 2 years 5 months by this fight. The footage on Youtube misses out the end of the 2nd round. The bell goes to end the round, Wilde drops his hands and turns to walk back to his corner, then Villa unleashes a huge punch. Wilde was knocked unconscious, the corner brought him round and sent him out for the 3rd. Wilde said afterwards that he couldn't remember rounds 3-7. Villa should have been disqualified - but wasn't. I like and admire Pancho - but NOT for this fight.
i love fighting when m in gradeschool.15 yrs ago.^_^ win or lose, i love to box..we box at the age of 8. boxing was trend. i dont know why. only realizing lately that pancho villa1920's was my neighbor in ilog, neg occidental Philippines, omg, didnt know this., all i know was former "actually" olympic1996 gold medalist boxer mansueto velasco(silver-bago city) & current WBO champ strawweights Ring #4 donnie nietes.wohoo.i live in the home of the champions. a small island, but its all about BOXING.
and Jimmy Wilde was hardly a giant was he elite pinoy, he weighed 100 pounds at best and still managed to knockout bantamweights with relative ease, it wasnt like Villa was fighting Jack Dempsey, so where does this giant killer stuff come from?
Jimmy Wilde was aged, well passed his best and fighting a brilliant young fighter in Villa, if it would've been a prime Jimmy, The Mighty Atom would've knocked him out no problem, Bert Sugar once said Jimmy Wilde is the only fighter who could challenge Sugar Ray's pound for pound status, and in 2003 The Ring had him no#2 p4p hardest hitter of all time, Joe Louis was no#1, Jimmy was absolutly brilliant to say the least, im a Welshman so excuse me if im a little biased lol
@KorsaSS some people say that Joe Calzaghe is the best UK boxer of all time. I think it was Jimmy Wilde. I cannot believe that a bunch of young thugs beat him up when he was an old man on a train station. He was 75 years old when they did that to him. He never really recovered from that. A terrible thing to do to a true legend of boxing. Jimmy Wilde - 137 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws and 8 no-decisions -100 wins by knockout. A great fighter!
sorry mr that comment was not for you its for those filipino hater bastard commentators on net i been to alot by readin videos like this one. they pissed me off sorry again if you i offended you was its a missunderstanding tyvm bye.pace
Filipino haters CANT accept the fact that pancho villa brutally beat their british ring fighter out cold. no excuses please what you see is what you get prime or none prime your fighters ass got pawn so badly. We filipinos are fighters we are small but we are giant killers and we earn our fucking respect. represent our fighters as we represent yours when we see one.till you beat filipinos best boxer then talk shit FOB Haters.stop pickin on little guys we should be congratulated for slaying GIANt
@elitepinoyz2009 wilde was not in his prime, he came out of retirement after 2 years, he retired cos he fell out of a ring fighting the great bantamweight pete herman and smashed his head on the concrete floor.
Both were great fighters but wilde in his prime would have won i feel. important to note pancho weighed 8 pounds more then wilde.
