It's amazing yet tragic how quickly buses like these slip our memory. I can now rememeber these vividly around the streets of Leeds City Centre around a decade ago. West Riding Buses had a name that meant unity for everyone in West Yorkshire. Arriva does nothing but demonstrate globalisation and monopoly of the market, with its shoddy fleet of noisy, smoky, cheaply built yet expensive to run rubbish from the continent. I wish Leyland Atlanteans, Olympians, MCW Metrobuses etc could still be here.
Oh I dunno, think their have quite a nice fleet and have invested quite a bit in new buses over the past 2 years with more new buses due this month and next.
Have to agree with your comment about the old buses, would be nice to have them back. Would make West Yorkshire sound more interesting.
@spartan117ism : Last West Riding one or last ever? There's plenty out in preservation but mine is the only finished West Riding example. There is a Mk2 example in preservation but has yet to be repainted into the WR livery.
Your wish will be granted come next year. I own Leyland Lynx C920 FMP (mail me for a website showing it's progress etc if you're interested). It's in the process of being rebuilt as the body was badly corroded. It will be repainted into West Riding livery.
We had about 3 of the same bodied Lynx buses over her in Australia with what was South Trans before Veolia took them over. Nice bus but shocking body, rattles galore. I think our ones where cummins powered. More info can be found at busaustralia dot com website looking under fleetlist in the connex disposals area
