Gun Kata isnt really like that but it does exist. It's basicly just using Martial Arts in conjunction with Firearms. It's real alright but that stuff about being able to not be injured and take out all oyur enemies in only a few seconds is definetly bull unless Jesus himself pops in front of oyu and tells you that you can do it for rhe rest of your life or whatever.

I agree the standards the gun katas place are impossibly high. but on a different note I can see them increasing your accuracy like they say. Through repition you would gain a slightly better sense of where you were aiming without actually concentrating down the sights. And hand to hand combat does translate into gun fighting. The Russian special forces do it and they are pretty good.

Agree on the notion that the Analysis-of-thousands-of-gun-b­attles part & the part about training discipline is the Plausible section of the theory of Gun-kata. That's what makes this movie so much fun, because it has a believability factor.

However, I was merely pointing out that in real-life, this is highly, if not impossibly, unlikely. On military operations, soldiers are aided by specialized equipment & even satellite infrared help to determine enemy positions, & the Soldiers still get hit!

Nothing is impossible. A person with pure dedication can practice this. With enough time and effort, he can achieve this said "impossible" act. Human reactions have reaction times, speed can always overcome this but not always. Speed with precision and proper action with deadly accuracy can prove the most toughest adversary in this situation. Proper training of course should always be observed and so does discipline.

This is called "gun-kata" in the movie, but it has martial arts hand to hand combat as its foundation (utilizing movement to get the most damage).

When you deal with snipers, shotguns, or greater numbers of armed opponents, no amount of positioning will save you in a gun fight.

Tactical prediction has been the foundation of many military endeavors since first time a guy picked up a rock, looked at his friend, and thought "if I throw it at him, would he be able to dodge it?". We still haven't really developed as way for accurate prediction, just best-guess principle. The thing is, it looks like gun-kata doesn't rely on guess work at all, the combatant just knows where to fire. True, the analysis-of-thousands-of-recor­ded-gunfights is the plausible part, but barely.

Actually, it's virtually impossible to do Gun-kata (i.e. run into a random room full of randomly arranged gunmen & hose them down with any kind of precision). Why? The simple fact is that you can't predict where a gunmen/opponent will be in a given spot. Not to mention the utter relativity of such things as Terrain and location lay out. I mean come on, try applying gun-kata in a jungle environment, you'll get a bullet in the head easy... Math is capable of doing a lot of things, but not that.

first of all i agree, with out paying attention to the movie it would seem retarded right?, but this movie is about the ability to sense said sense offenders. although i seriously doubt we will ever be able to hone our sensorys to such an atuned state, the ability to sense where others are in a room is not unheard of. this is why you see him fight in controled areas, a warrior picks his terrain is possible if he cannot he makes do with his skills, clerics are students of disipline obviously.

Kurt Wiemmer had an excellent idea when he thought of Gun Kata. Sadly, this style will only work in fiction, because you need someone really dope on Prozium drugs to be able to executed such kind of movements in a real-life gun fight. For those of us who had ever been in a real gun fight, you know this is true...
