completely pointless, it doesn;t matter ow fancy your poses are of how fast you are bullets are still faster not to mention the fact that an inexperienced gunman would be a lot more difficult to predict than an expert. AND you cant get a percentage above 100 stupid american gibberish.
@jasonssu15963 Not entirely, I heard he took at least one of the bullets. He reportedly said it was a stupid mistake that he made while striking a Gun-Kata pose.
its funny how most people disbelieve and disregard practical applications like gun katas, psi power's and to what mite be known as super human abilities. OPEN YOUR MINDS PEOPLE AND THROW OUT THE OLD BELIEF SYSTEM IT'S NOT REAL AND IT DOESN'T WORK.
If gun kata was seriously refined it could be used. With the same core principle of being able to take out your targets quickly and efficiently based on movement of others and were they will attack you at
GunKata looks REAAALLLY cool, but it has to be the only shooting technique that is used only under the circumstances that your pursuer(s) are epileptic drunken cyclopses.
Then I am stupid, because I cant see the disadvantage of the kata. It is not as resourcefull as shown in the movie, but I bet it is better than traditional shooting.
this is why lots of movie noobs think that equilibrium is like the matrix. okay, lets put neo up against a first class grammaton cleric, and see whos dead, and whos teabagging
Gun Kata isnt really like that but it does exist. It's basicly just using Martial Arts in conjunction with Firearms. It's real alright but that stuff about being able to not be injured and take out all oyur enemies in only a few seconds is definetly bull unless Jesus himself pops in front of oyu and tells you that you can do it for rhe rest of your life or whatever.
@MusicMan53100 lol this is general chat & it's not like ur comment was 20 pages back. the fact that you made that comment makes u gay & the subject more fun. lol
i don't see why people say this isn't an applicable style of fighting. it's taking what you have and adapting a fighting style around it, sounds possible to me.
and besides "Equilibrium" and "ultra Violet" are two PHENOMINALLY great movies. and that fact is owed to Gun Kata... and kurt wimmer, thank you kurt, for all the entertainment. it's like a john woo movie on steroids and speed! I LOVE IT!
I remember these numbers in another version of equilibrium, I don't know why exactly changed the scene talking about 120% of efectiveness (?) and 63% of other thing (?)
I agree the standards the gun katas place are impossibly high. but on a different note I can see them increasing your accuracy like they say. Through repition you would gain a slightly better sense of where you were aiming without actually concentrating down the sights. And hand to hand combat does translate into gun fighting. The Russian special forces do it and they are pretty good.
so many big explanations and scientific stuff you guys post. How bout just saying that its a kick ass look for some awsume shootouts. Doesnt have to be real, people like jedis not becaus eits real but ebcause they're cool.
Agree on the notion that the Analysis-of-thousands-of-gun-battles part & the part about training discipline is the Plausible section of the theory of Gun-kata. That's what makes this movie so much fun, because it has a believability factor.
However, I was merely pointing out that in real-life, this is highly, if not impossibly, unlikely. On military operations, soldiers are aided by specialized equipment & even satellite infrared help to determine enemy positions, & the Soldiers still get hit!
funny thing is there really is a gun martial art that this is based on. they just added the gun-kata name and description for the effect lol. some of the techniques used in the real deal though where used in the final fight with chubby there. lol
actuly if you pay atention they say theyve done that all there life and so would know nearly every battle plan and most people use the same plan as othe people so it is threticly posible and also some of the british army do things like what they do eg in the middle of a room and not get hit and its all about acrucy which is what they actult tought there (well the moves that enable you 2 fire both guns whith little sufice area beeing able to be shot
Mathematically, it's safe to say that is is not probable, given the exponentially large number of gun battle scenarios. It be twenty times more difficult than knowing every single possible play-out of a chess game,
Nothing is impossible. A person with pure dedication can practice this. With enough time and effort, he can achieve this said "impossible" act. Human reactions have reaction times, speed can always overcome this but not always. Speed with precision and proper action with deadly accuracy can prove the most toughest adversary in this situation. Proper training of course should always be observed and so does discipline.
Sigh....take a physics class and stop watching so much stylized violence in movies and cartoons, they;ll give you warped notions like "nothing is impossible".
Tactical prediction has been the foundation of many military endeavors since first time a guy picked up a rock, looked at his friend, and thought "if I throw it at him, would he be able to dodge it?". We still haven't really developed as way for accurate prediction, just best-guess principle. The thing is, it looks like gun-kata doesn't rely on guess work at all, the combatant just knows where to fire. True, the analysis-of-thousands-of-recorded-gunfights is the plausible part, but barely.
Actually, it's virtually impossible to do Gun-kata (i.e. run into a random room full of randomly arranged gunmen & hose them down with any kind of precision). Why? The simple fact is that you can't predict where a gunmen/opponent will be in a given spot. Not to mention the utter relativity of such things as Terrain and location lay out. I mean come on, try applying gun-kata in a jungle environment, you'll get a bullet in the head easy... Math is capable of doing a lot of things, but not that.
you're right, however it is possible. in this movie, however, the forgot the biggest factor, which is luck. it can work, but out in the field, it's hard to predict anything.
first of all i agree, with out paying attention to the movie it would seem retarded right?, but this movie is about the ability to sense said sense offenders. although i seriously doubt we will ever be able to hone our sensorys to such an atuned state, the ability to sense where others are in a room is not unheard of. this is why you see him fight in controled areas, a warrior picks his terrain is possible if he cannot he makes do with his skills, clerics are students of disipline obviously.
You'd think, with that information, they'd train their people to work around all that data so that none of the stuff that happened with the gun kata fights in the movie would've happened.
wow, everyone is just being negitive becouse its easier to think this cant be masterd lol? of course its possible, martial arts seems hard tell u master it.. this is somthing that would probely be easy for a martial arts fighter to master since this is how they fight, in all diffrent angles takeing on people surrounding them, but this time with a gun... u all are over dramatic on the negitivity
Maybe at close range some of the rudimentary poses would work, but it would still be quite unnecessary and overall impractical. It just looks beautiful when done in the movie, but that's all it is.

when it comes to guns, the rules of hand to hand combat don't apply.
This is called "gun-kata" in the movie, but it has martial arts hand to hand combat as its foundation (utilizing movement to get the most damage).
When you deal with snipers, shotguns, or greater numbers of armed opponents, no amount of positioning will save you in a gun fight.
