The biggest secret behind Tom's sustain is in the pick ups. They are Seymour Duncan Metal Live Wires.

I use the same ones in my guitar and they RULE! The sustain never stops!

it's not EMG's, they're carvin's passive pickups with the active tone controls, you can tell from the switches and the pickups. He's probably got a compressor or something on. I may be wrong, but i'm 99% sure of the pickups.

Thanks heaps man, but whats funny is that I've been playing a different 8 note arpeggio, (16 notes in total when sweeping up and down) and the last 5 notes are almost exactly the same pattern apart from the final one which is just moved up 2 frets. Requires some stretching!
