Wells. State resources should go to enough wells in the region to pump/disperse enough subsurface water to extinguish coal fires. This is around the world a massive, stupid emission of CO2 greenhouse gas, 1., and 2. a wastage of carbon resources for 'no return' beyond the destruction of the environment.
its just to big a problem, i mean its been like 40 something years and they dident do shit. it would b well over a billion dollors to TRY and fix it. and u cant refine it because that land caves in a is to unstable u damn hippie liberal.
Couldn't it be, that there's actually way too much other cheap energy or coal, that trying to tap a fire already under the ground, just isn't feasible? How? Maybe a really long extension cord will do the trick?
Seems the affordable solution is to move on, and mine coal nearby or elsewhere, before it burns too.
Who's the hippie? I'm very conservative and very pro-life and pro-population
Cost-benefit consideration, tells us it's probably better to let below ground fires grow wild
you idiot hippies and liberals don't want coal burned for energy. this guy is in the bush/cheney lets use all the fossil fuels we can and screw the air and greenhouse gasses rule camp.. hippies and liberals want to run stuff off of urine and fart and hemp.. you fool this dude is a conservative not a hippie..
Hippie. giffe00 is right. y'all need to buy the land and plant your communes on it. Since when do hippies embrace the internet, anyway?? Get a good look at my ass corysmolly?
while, just responding to something we wrote a month ago.. way to stay current there zep.. and we all see your ass, its kind of hard to miss...might think of a good diet and some exercise.. and lay off the twinkies.. good luck...
they harnes the energy from it because the ground is unstable. they do see the point of building a energy harnessing plant somewhere where it mite fall into the ground. if youve ever been there you can see where the ground is subsiding, even so centralia kicks ass
Maybe they can find some place far enough away to put the building where it won't fall in, and then run pipes to it. But then subsidance of the ground breaks the pipes? And how hot is the fire anyway? Coal burns hot enough for blacksmithing? So put the pipes "near" the fire, then they are soon in the fire?
I don't hear of many volcanos tapped for energy, so if it was feasible, wouldn't somebody be doing it already? Too many better sources of energy it would appear
The Money Masters, Gigatons of cow and pig methane clean fuel are wasted, CH4 100x greenhouse effect of CO2(Global scamming to further tax and herd people off prime land eg Green_House_Conspiracy on video.google).

How could you capture that type of heat? The sulfur dioxide coming out of the burning coal would corrode any metal used extremely quickly. The area burning is also so vast that it cant be capped.
Well it is a good question whether that wasted energy could be tapped somehow. However, energy is all around us, and perhaps there are better sources of energy elsewhere?
It could also be that the underground fire fronts are advancing away from any installation to tap the energy, and also that the ground is shifting and unstable. And couldn't coal not yet burned nearby, or from elsewhere, be a more portable source of energy that can be taken away to where needed?
If they do harness that energy, I hope they put it on the grid and pass along the money saved or made onto the people that live and used to live in Centralia.
Maybe you should start asking, how many mines in America are burning..? You'll be surprised.

Free Energy is real and its here but the coverup is strong, if you are interested in a REAL free energy machine then
just go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and download the blueprints ,it is probably the ONLY working magnet
motor out there. Join the free energy revolution!!

I know this is like 6 months after your comment, but I just gotta say.
You're making fun of him for replying a month late, but you replied to his original comment 3 months later, so you're one to talk...

they never stop them.. they burn themselves out so capture the energy

It would probably not be cost-effective.

how do they capture it in iceland?
please sulfur dioxide was used as a refrigerent .. so how did they contain it.
you run pipes and cap it with insulation.
you just hate to think that there could be so much waste of energy.
