The direct hit is horrible, and a ripoff.

Can take out any 125 hp class with one shot at close range, and can't do anything for shit against others.

It also has a horrible sound (probably the worst aspect).

Ideally you use it for single target nuking, splash damage from the rocket launcher is way better, and packs a punch directly anyways. The forte of a soldier is mainly the concept of "delayed" (travel time) splash damage. Direct hit removes that, but regardless depends on the playstyle. Who knows we might yet see a DH fragger sometime soon =]
