I've moved from XP directly to 7. After a year of using Windows 7, I think I'd still prefer Windows XP for it's simplicity and stability for my systems.

I like the new interface, widgets and all but the file system and memory management on Windows 7 is just horrendous.

You can't compare the two, it's like comparing a Bugatti veyron to a 1942 shit car, windows 7 is the best because it's new and better. Xp was popular in the 2000s you can't compare outdated technology to new tech.

For the post below mine XP is also 64bit, ie. XP 64bit edition.

For the post below the one that is below mine 64bit is more optimized then 32bit, ie. more stable and faster + its able to have up to 16 EB (EXA BYTE) of ram.

XP is much better. Here is what you loose with windows 7: most programs work too slow with windows 7, some dont even work. Windows 7 complicates mapping of your files where XP is much more user friendly. I work with 8 different computers on the daily basis and Love the XP and Hate the windows 7

if you were to buy a newer computer that has windows 7 and downgrade to xp, you should be really surprised at how much faster it will be. i know when i did that with my vista laptop that has 1gig of ram i was shocked at how much speed was gained. my bootime is literally like 20seconds now.

The comps you're testing on should be equal, this test doesn't show anything except one os is installed on a good comp and other is with fried psu.
