I like Ernie Haase's singing voice. You should type in Brian Free and Assurance Glory Road, and listen to those guys, I just recently heard it, Brian Hit's an amazingly high note on it.
Ernie is VERY overrated. Always has been. Danny Funderburke was a much better tenor. I love Mark Trammell & Roger Bennett. I miss Roger so much, even after 4 years.
MegaAspen, Apparently you have never heard former Cathedral pianists Danny Koker(1964-69) and Lorne Matthews (1971-73). They were better than Roger Bennett, by far.
@Jesusffreak777 Lorne was a good pianist. He kind of had a falling away in the late 70s and early 80s, but he came back to God, and he has a great testimony. I wish he would have stayed.
@erdtfan I agree with that. Did you ever see the song Redemption Draweth Nigh on You Tube with Ernie? This song give me goosebumps and the chills. I have the DVD Oh, My, Glory!, I have seen it many times.
No offense to anyone here but nobody ever did this song like the original version by the Kingsmen Quartet back on Big and Live. Johnny Parrack tore it up, not to mention Big Jim Hamil, Eldrige Fox and Ray Dean Reece. Best version ever.
I loved the Cathedrals but this one dosen't fit them.Singing Americans owned this song with Strickland & English on Live and Alive.Would've been 10x better with Glen & George.
Almost every reply is Ernie-focused, which is fine. I think he's a good tenor. However, the other guys aren't too shabby.....Mark Trammell was in my opinion, the best baritone the Cathedrals had. Same goes for Roger Bennett, the best.....
I think ernnie just used the cathedrals as a stepping stone. He sounded better when he was younger. He is still good though. - Just my opinion. Thanks for posting.
the cathedrals had a hard time keeping tenor singers, they went through quite a few. finally george had to get his daughter to marry ernie in order to keep a tenor singer. he had so many george thought he had a farm system supplying gospel music with excellent tenors. i guess alot of tenors used the cathedrals as stepping stones, but they didn't seem to mind.
Thanks for posting. It's wonderful to see these great video's. Ernie was so young here. What a voice and he has come so far with his own group. I just love watching his talent and what good christian men. George is always a joy to see.
yall are not being fair to Ernie, his voice was higher back then and that was like 20 years ago!

Great song. This is when I liked Ernie, before (IMO) he sold out to Gaither. Just not the same anymore, but like I said, thats just MY opinion.

I think Ernie sounds better here than he does today. Hope this doesen't sound mean but a Cathedral video without George and Glen is only fair.
