@MrTewl8te it has a large, powerful engine, and would burn out easily on the road. but this is wet grass. my toyota 82 will spin its 35" mud terrains in wet grass. even though the 4cyl cant push it past 55.
@WunderDoob actually it cant really go past 55 due to the low gearing it has. but i don't think that even with higher gearing the engine would be able to do it... well its not really meant to go fast anyways ;-) besides i don't feel sorry for it. after all it gets better care than most engines do. early oil changes, regular timing adjustments, large radiator, oil cooler, new air filters, i think that the engine is quite happy.
nice truck man.. i have been thinking of doing another s10 project. Theres something about a small truck with a 350 underr the hood that i like.. However, the older s10's are getting hard to find, so i'm thinking of perhaps going witha newer looking xtreme and dropping something in that. I can't believe there are so many idiots that think your trying to say that truck is stock. No one understands it takes little work to drop a v8 into a s10. Heck, it will bolt right up to a 4.3 tranny.
@Texassince1836 no a v8 will fit my dads buddy put 1 in that same truck but it was a 4 wheel drive but it has to be a small block 350 maybe 1 out of a 73 ss camaro will fit
@offroadingfreack97 all smallblocks are the same size outside, 262-400so if 1 smallblock will fit, they all will. The bore and stroke inside the motor change, but the outside dimmensions are always the same. The mounts changed from car to car sometimes....and a 383 is just a bored and stroked 350...
@Texassince1836 ya ik but im 13 and everyone tells me im super smart about cars like in order to make a 383 stoker you have to put a 400 crank in a 350
@offroadingfreack97 I'm 16 and I know all this stuff too...and you have to .030 overbore a 350 and grind out the main bearings to fit a 400 crank...thus making a 383 . And the rods have to be 400 rods, not 350 rods. A stroker converion isn't just drop a crank bolt a new one up, its a complete rebuild.
What's the math on that? I mean...the original bore and stroke value multiplied by .030 and added together, and where does the stroke come from? The machining, the different crank, or new rods? Are you running special pistons to clear the valves and plug afterwards? Where do you get the custom made pushrods? Do you have to advance the spark plug timing? How does the positrac on a plymouth work? Where do babies come from?
There was a few years that S10's came with a factory V8. It was a 350...but underpowered. Even the GMC Cyclone could out-do it. The V8 model was the "original" SS S10. Production wasn't for very long though.
@13jm31 they never did.. You drop a 350, 383, LS motor.. what v8 you want.. the nice thing about the older s10's, is they had one of the strongest frames. I had an 82 s10 with a 350 dropped into it.. miss it a lot.
to anyone who claims the s-10 or sonoma EVER came with a V8 you are utterly wrong! GM has ONLY EVER placed 2.2 gas I4, 2.5 gas I4, 2.8 gas V6, 2.8 Diesel, and 4.3 V6.. NEVER a V8 from factory.. Do research before you post and make yourselves sound like idiots... ANY V8 in a S10 was a SWAP! No 1987 Stallion @weldergrodd, no s10 SS with a 305 (it had a 4.3) and no Xtreme had a V8 EVER! I work in Detroit for GM and have since you were all in diapers and there has NEVER been a V8 shipped with one!
@2kawasaki22 You dumb sonofabitch I HAVE THE SUPER CHEVY MAGAZINE that talks about it.... Thats what Im going by, unlike all the KNOW-it-ALLS Mr. "I've worked at Detriot for BLAH BLAH years, and now I get on you-tube thinking Im the smartest fuk bag alive " , I've never seen one, BUT I've FUCKING read about it.... Just because you were a JANITOR for the motherfukers dont make you a GM GOD..... FUKN DUMBASS...... I'll tell you what Im gonna do. Im gonna find that mag and video that article...
@Tannre0 yep, bored .030 over to a 355 and stroked to a 400. Haha youd be surprised that many people dont know that considering the popularity of this engine
@taz275. Gm never made a 383...but all smallblocks have interchangable parts, a 383 is an overbored 350 with a crankshaft out of a 400 smallblock. You have to machine the main bearings for the crank out to stroke a 350 into a 383 because the mains were bigger on a 400
Hey there Mr. krunkkracker, Chevrolet did come out with a FACTORY V-8 S-10 in 1987 called a S-10 Stallion, but there were less than 100 of them built. After they decided they were too dangerous, Chevrolet recalled all of them back so they could be destroyed, thats when the GMC Cyclone and Typhoon was born..
@Badchevee1 Do your research there little yankee boy, I still have the Super Chevy Magazine where it talks about it, hell thats the only way I knew about it.. Nice malibu by the way, too bad daddy built it, not you....Let me know when you want an ol' southern boy to show you how SLOW it really is...
@weldergrodd So why dont you take a little video of that magazine as you flip page for page and show us all?!?!? And yea that Chevelle is nice, my father restored that thing like 15 years ago and sold it about 13 years ago and Still looks amazing. My fathers good friend Don owns it now. But you'd know that if you read a little. I dont know why brought it up anyway? I never claimed i owned it and its not a drag car its only a sunday cruiser for christ sakes. Go bark up another tree..
@weldergrodd No what i think you have there is a Super Chevy Magazine that featured a 1987 chevy S10 CONVERTED TO V8 and nicknamed " V8 STALLION "... Are you going to post it up or what? LMAO

@Texassince1836 rod choice depends on your piston choice. You can use 350 rods, just need pistons to accomodate them.

don't talk if you don't know about Xtreme
they have alot of performance goodies in the ( Xtreme - ZQ8 ) option package
more tight steering ratio
posi diff
third shock on the back axle (so no wheel hop)
bilstein shock
lowering 1"
bigger sway bars
16" aluminium wheel
I prefer the ZQ8 version because he is more sleeper ;)
