The Doxie has been around for a lot longer than that, between 1550-1850. They have been engineered (as in Man created them) as all purebred dogs are, being a mixture of various types of french & German terriers & hounds. They were created specifically to track badgers and to go into the badger's dens and kill them. You are right though that is what they are meant to look like LOL.
