Actually, owls are some of the dumbest birds there are. Yes, they have superb vision and hearing, but that doesn't make them intelligent. Goshawks and eagles and ospreys are far cleverer than even the smartest owl. If you were to put a mouse in the cage of a captive bred owl, the chances are the owl wouldn't know what to do with it, much less eat it. And regarding them coming, they've been here some 7 million years!
