As someone who works regularly across the world I can honestly say the current main topic of conversation is not the recession, it's not climate change, it's not what's happening in the Middle East... it's the very real worry about the emerging rhetoric coming from the Christian Right. It's scary, really scary, how large swathes of the US are so poorly educated and are thus so easily and shamelessly manipulated in the name of religion. A Christian America will be a very sad loss to the world.

It seems like these people just need discipline and how to be taught how to act civil and moral. Are these people so bad they can't follow rules? Japan seems to be able to teach discipline without religion. I don't see why you couldn't just teach them that. If you have to make these people fearful of something to make them moral, how moral could they really be?
