  • is it safe to wire 2 type r's on 1ohm?

  • @ecko426 I cant remember at the top of my head, but if you have the dual 2ohm type r, Im pretty sure you can. I cant cause I have the dual 4 ohm model.

  • man thats pretty loud!! hw bigs ur enclosure?

  • @tnguyen1508

Its a sealed box, i forget the cubic ft. It was what the sub required, cant remember that either, lol. I think its 1.8.

  • For 2 Type R's on that amp, you should have went with 2 Dual 2 ohm subs, then you can run it at a final load of 2 ohm on the amp if you wire it in series. But since you got dual 4, you're running it on 4 ohm total in parallel, otherwise 1 ohm would mess up the amp. Running it at 4 ohms halfs the power, that's your problem.

  • @diablo2369 the pdx 1.000 is 1,000 at 2 or 4 ohm so it doesnt matter if u ran 2 ohm or 4 ohm subs, same power

  • hey i got 2 12" type r's runnin ona pdx also is 4 gauge wire to small?

  • @MrBenbejamin I dont think it is. At first I thought that the wire was the problem, but when I switched to 0 guage wire the bass was still dropping. Im now switching back and forth between the 2 subs and one sounds comletely different then the other. So the problem is either the amp or the sub. How many feet of wire do you need?

  • @camarosam yo mang , yu gat tha polarity rong on won of tha subz mang. dat y it duznt sayund gud wit too at wunc

  • i got 2 12" type r on a pdx also i got 4 gauge runing to them is that to small?

  • Hey do you have the dual 2 ohm subs? Or dual 4 ohm? i Got similar setup to yours ( 2 type R's dual voive coil 4 ohms and the v power alpine 1000w rms single channel amp) You know any way to put 2 ohm load on amp for max power?

  • They are dual 4 ohm. You have to change the wires around that are going to the back of the sub. Ill message you a link that will show you.

  • @bit123slapped u can wire the subs together for a 2 ohm load and that would be it cant wire em by themselfs u get a 4 ohm load and a 1 ohm

  • are these door speackers amped

  • yeah, type s in the front and type r in the rear. Powered by a pdx 4.100.

  • ya type r's are real copmmon, get the type x they better, but cost more :[

  • Did you have a car alarm?

  • Nope, Im going to be putting one on with my next settup.

  • what head unit is that?

  • alpine cda-9856, not sure if they make it anymore.

  • my bro had that radio unit and i think they dont make it anymore.

  • do these hit/louder than 2 12 inch kicker comp vr's

  • Yeah, much bigger magnet then on the kicker comp vr. Type Rs are proven, one of the best selling, if not the best selling sub out there.

  • nice volume pussy

  • man turn that shit up

  • Very cool system though!

  • playing rock on 2 12's is never good

  • ur a fag lol who buys subwoofers to blast metal musicc

  • i have two typr rs with a i farad capacitor and the mrp m1000 with 4g wire...1000watts calls for 4g your fine but get a capacitor and another battery

  • I have a cap, i could never figure out the problem. My system got stolen so Ill be doing a new setup, hopefully it this issue wont be with the next one.

  • It was probably your "Big Three". The main wires under your hood for distributing power and recharging the battery.

  • the name?

  • the song is by DJ Unk- 2 step

  • I think that 4 gauge wire is fine. You should get a larger battery or a big capacitor. I have 1 type x run off a MRP-M1.1000 and a 4 farad cap and a custom made box. my system is 137.8dbm

  • how many ohms is one of those subs?

  • I set them up for 2 ohms each.

  • try 0 gauge wire. 4 is the minimum and alpine recommends 2 gauge or lower. i've been told that when u use too small of power wire there's gonna be a voltage drop like Bsktbll895 previously stated. I just bought some 0 gauge wire but as soon as I hook it up I'll let you know

  • Ya thats what Im going to do next, let me know what happens.

  • i dont want to sound like an asshole,

but dude you're a fucking HOMO for even listening to this motherfucking song.

    god damn fool.

  • ya I know, but the beat is sick, not the lyrics.

  • que te haces el mafie pelotudo ignorante de mierda, anda al colegio antes de hacerte el loco porque te cojiste a tu hermana mientras tu vieja te miraba puto

  • If you spoke english I would know what your saying.

  • LMAO

  • oh ok i get it, the 3 electrical wires in the engine. but would my amp still go to protect if i had a capacitor? thanks a lot

  • check the ground wire from your amp, make sure you have 4 guage wire from the alternator, and a good ground for the battery. I dont really believe in this, cause i have a friend with the same setup as I do and his bass is insane, he only has 4ft of wire from the battery, and he left everything alone, I installed it for him.

  • whats a big 3?

  • So I should change my battery and wire then right?

  • Try upgrading the Big 3, its cheaper than a battery and is relatively easy to do

  • kool 5/5

  • i have a jetta so i would say about 15 feet, could be a little more or a little less, they say its 4 gauge but i doubt that, like you said they may say that its 4 gauge but it looks pretty small to me!! and sorry i made a mistake about the ohms, i plugged my sub at 8 ohms not 4.

    thanks a lot!

  • Ohms have a lot to do with the amount of voltage you are supplying the amp. The reason the amp goes into protect at high volume is because the amp couldnt draw enough power from your battery that it needed to output at that volume. When you have a voltage drop the ohm load to the amp will also drop. So if you had that type x wired for 2 ohms and the voltage spikes, it will present the PDX an ohm load lower than 2ohms to where it isnt stable, sending it into protect mode.

  • hey, I wired one of my type Rs at 2 ohms to this amp, and the bass drops like 90% of the time, but when it doesnt it shuts off at high volumes, could that be prove that the amp isnt getting enough power?

  • having the same problem with a pdx-5, i'm suspecting a bad ground.

  • I was told that before, Im gonna move the ground wire and try that out, but now I got to wait cause I just blew my engine doin 145mph, lol.

  • What car were you driving?

  • 1993 cadillac sts

  • mmmm, very clean car..nice faceplate

  • The amp goes into protect cuz it cant draw enough power from your battery. What size fuse are you using? You should get a 150a ANL fuse for that amp.

  • it doesnt cut out all the way like in protect mode, its kind of like having the bass on 15 then turning it to 5, thats what it does. My system just got stolen so Im gonna start from the bottom up.

  • i had a problem like that once with my jl 500/1. Yurned out it was getting to hot so it would reduce power till it cooled down. My fault anyway for storing it underneath the sub box in a floor compartment. And i know the pdx can get hot so that could have been it. And sorry to hear your system got stolen. Hope your new one only gets betetr

  • Thanks man, picking up the new setup in a week or 2. Im starting from the ground up and hopefully resolve the problem I had.

  • I have a PDX-1.1000 amp running an alpine type x with 4 gauge wire and when I plug it in 2 ohm the amp with go into protect when i raise the volume and the sub stops playing . but when i plug it in 4 ohm everything is fine!! can someone help me out?

  • My type R does the same thing at 2 ohms but not 4. I have an alpine head unit and when i put it to volume 20, the amp will shut off. I have to do some research on it cause it should be able to handle it. Its 1000rms at 2 or 4 ohms, so I dont know why it does it, but as long as I dont put it that load it sounds real nice, better than 4 ohms. Ill find out then hit you up.

  • How many feet are you running the 4 guage wire from the battery to the amp?

  • ok i have the same subs as you dual 4 ohm with pdx 1.600 running to each what wire should i run to get full power and should i drop them down to 2 ohm

  • you have a amp for each sub? If you have an amp to each one then you can drop them to 2 ohm, but hook them up first at 4 so you can hear what they sound like, then drop them to 2 and hear the difference, it hits the lows way better. You have to tell me how many feet it is from your battery to where the amp is going to be, then I can tell you what thickness the wire should be.

  • ya im runnin 600 to each sub and it is about 7.5 feet and the amps are goin on the back of the box.....will 4 ohm still hit hard or what?

  • you must have a small car, lol, then you want 4 guage wire running from the battery to each amp, so your going to have 2, 4 guage wires, those will work perfect, make sure you buy kicker or monster cable, dont settle for the cheap stuff, cause their not as thick even though they say it is. I have 24 feet worth of wire, lol, thats why I have 0 guage.

  • ok sorry that was a guess it is actually about 10 or 11 feet to the amp to battery

  • and how do u drop em down to 2ohm

  • on the back of the sub, there is a looped wire, get 2 looped wires and connect positive with positive with one, and negative and negative with the other, there should have been instructions that came with the sub, look at those. And 4 ohms will hit hard, but at 2, the sound quality is alot better, and it hits the lows much better as well.

  • alright thanks ya im droppin it down to 2 ohm i want all the power i can get

  • it will sound nice, and you will have plenty of bass at low and high volumes, even at 11 feet, 4 guage will work perfect, thats to each amp. So your going to have 2 strands of 4 guage wire.

  • and also does a ported box make it louder

  • a ported box does make it louder, but sealed gives you a deeper bass. I use to have a ported box and it is a bit louder, but this issue I cant help you with, lol, it can go either way and still sound nice.

  • alright thanks doooood

  • u get deeper bass with a ported box not sealed.

  • No you dont, deeper is sealed, louder is ported. If you dont believe me, google it.

  • they have thickness in wires? oh boy...i should do a lot more research, i thought this would be easy ahha...how many watts would i need for the subs and should it be a monoblock?

  • The power wire runs from your battery to your amp, the thickness depends on how many feet it is from your battery to your amp, and also how many watts your amp is. You want around 500 rms power to each sub, If your going with a 2 ohm sub get 2 mono amps powering 500rms each. Do you know how many feet from your battery to where the amp is going to be?

  • oh because i want to buy a pair of 12s type r from ebay but the listings either show 4 ohm or there are 2 ohm type rs, which ones are better to get?

  • The 4ohm will last longer, and you can drop them to 2 ohms, like I did. The 2 ohm subs will hit harder and will have better sound quality, and you can drop those to 1 ohm. The reason why the 2 ohm sub may not last as the 4 ohm is because the 2 ohm sub reacts to every beat, it picks up sounds that you dont hear with the 4 ohm and hits it harder. So if I had to choose again, Ide go with the 2 ohm sub, make sure your wire is thick enough and that you have an amp that can power these.

  • are those the 2ohm or 4ohm subs?

  • their 4ohm, this video shows them running at 4, but I just dropped them to 2, which has way better sound quality and bass.

  • man my pdx1.1000 puts out 1200w rms (1256w rms) and 4 awg wire is the maximum these amps will accept, get a distribution block and run a 0 guage to under your rear seat then change to the 4 awg to the 2 amps

  • thats what im going to do, run 0 to the block then switch to 4 to the amps, gonna do it this weekend.

  • IS THAT AMP UNDERATED AT 1000

  • its runnin 1000rms, 500 to each sub.
